  • "We have stayed at this property a few times and it never disappoints."

It’s a lovely spacious apartment set in a block with other similar apartments. It’s on the first floor ( there is a lift) and has stunning views out to sea and along the coast. There is a communal outdoor swimming pool which we can’t comment on as we stayed in November and of course it was closed. I would imagine in the summer it’s very popular. It’s a well appointed apartment with everything you need. When we arrived it was a little chilly. The radiators can be adjusted via an app on the phone provided. This was easy to do and it was soon cosy. We had a small issue when we were there but this soon amicably resolved. Getting to the apartment does involve some very narrow Devon lanes. If you are cautious you are fine but be prepared for reversing etc. All in all a lovely stay and we will certainly return in the future.

  • "We have just stayed at 7 Ocean’s Edge three times now and would happily go again."

However, we did have initial problems as the duvets in the bedrooms are duck feathers, and one of us has an allergy to feathers. We rang Sykes and after some resistance we were sent, admittedly after their hours, a synthetic duvet. Unfortunately it was for a double bed, not a king size, so we had to ask Sykes again. We were given a flat refusal for a king size synthetic duvet and only after complaining were we sent a large flat sheet. This, combined with the smaller duvet and a throw cover enabled us to sleep relatively comfortably. During our stay we were a bit concerned with the cleanliness in one or two places. One bed cover had dirty marks on it and a toilet brush was badly soiled with excrement. We did our best to keep the apartment clean, but had been left virtually nothing in the way of cleaning fluids. It is also mentionable that the staircase up to the first floor had large amounts of sandy soil on it throughout our stay. We can forward photos if needed. This all sounds as though we did not enjoy our stay, which is not the case. The apartment is beautifully situated and well equipped. We just think that you should be aware of these things.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay; however we are disappointed to read that you were unhappy with our service. We were unaware before your arrival that there was a party member allergic to feathers, this is something that is usually asked before your arrival. We replaced the duvet with a synthetic one as soon as you called after hours. We are also sad to read you had a few cleanliness issues. Please know that if you have let us know we would have rectified these bits immediately. We have carried out an inspection of the property and can report all has been remedied. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at 7 Oceans Edge before."

Extremely clean, comfortable and welcoming. We did have a little plumbing problem, which was resolved with no fuss with the help of coast & country staff and the property owner. Small observation…..Having the sofa facing the window instead of sitting with back against the widow would certainly allow guests to better enjoy that beautiful view without having to strain your neck to look. I’m sure the furniture could be rearranged as such. There is a lovely outdoor pool, I’m sure the apartment owners pay a hefty service charges for maintenance of the grounds etc. it’s a real shame the pool had not been cleaned, ( looked like for some time). I appreciate weather, near to beach etc, such things as dead flies etc cannot be helped, but lots of sludge/ sand in the pool, the cleanliness of pool lets the quality of stay down. We have not let this put us off, we have already booked again for another stay. A usable pool would have been the icing on the cake though!

we are so glad you enjoy your time at Oceans Edge, the pool isn't opened until later in May but we do take your point that more regular pool cleaning would improve appearance, sadly it was cleaned just as you were leaving. The views are incredible from the apartment and we do think we have the furniture arranged in the best way to allow enjoyment of the whole property including the dining area. glad to have you back later in the year! Wow what a view - we stayed with 4 adults and two young children and the apartment was perfect. Modern, clean, well appointed with lots of bathrooms. The location is perfect, with plenty of parking and a 2 minute walk to the beach. Can't recommend enough. Kids loved the warm pool too.

  • "Such a beautiful property, with panoramic sea views."

it’s a real shame we were looking out over a messy pool area. Cover not on properly & blowing about all week in the windy weather. Hose pipes, and cleaning equipment left out. Otherwise a fabulous stay, no control over the weather! But thankfully an extremely comfortable property, very clean & well equipped. It felt very welcoming and homely, with tasteful decoration throughout. On the downside…. The apartment was reached via a small country lane, which was a challenging route, dealing with oncoming cars. There are some passing places, but reversing, pulling over, and passing tested driving skills. There maybe another route, although once there, we did not venture out via roads again, until going home. The electrics lights in the apartment, at times had a mind of there own, flashing on and off, perhaps due to dimmers using the wrong type of energy efficient bulbs maybe? There is a delightful little cafe near the beach, but otherwise no pubs, restaurants, or shops nearby, so make sure you have the supplies needed. Around a 20 minute walk into Hope Cove ( mostly flat SW coastal path) which was perfect for lunch, but dinner would mean walking back in the dark at this time of year. (November) We seemed to be the only guests staying as very late in the season, so the owners of other apartments were taking the opportunity to improve their properties, with men workmen, kitchen fitters, and gardeners as some work being done to maintain the hedges etc. in the height of the season, anyone around the pool area would be able to see into this apartment, I’m not sure how comfortable I would have been with that. On the whole we had a wonderful stay, a much needed break away.

Everything handled smoothly. Top marks to Sykes. 7 Ocean’s Edge is a lovely place to stay in. Very peaceful, beautifully equipped and with great views. Our only very minor concern was that the settees were not that comfortable to sit on in the evening. However, we would happily stay there again.

And views and sunsets to die for, We had a wonderful week.. Only complaint was the key box which was very difficult to open. Very pleased that there were plenty of visitor car spaces, as there were 3 double bedrooms, lots of families would need more than one parking space.

so pleased you found the property to your liking. there are visitor spaces available to ensure more than 1 car can be comfortably accommodated for the property Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic time in Devon and were lucky with the weather."

The holiday flat was fantastic and enjoyed by all the family. There is a slight ant problem if any fruit is lest on the nest of tables but not major and does not detract from the overall style, class and comfort of the apartment. It would be better on the Sykes website to make it clearer that the pool is not available in early May. I am sorry I did not fill in the visitors book but forgot check out time was 10.00 am and ran out of time.

So glad you enjoyed your time at our Apartment. We have never experienced any issues with ants at all during the many times we have lived at our holiday home, the property is professionally cleaned each changeover and no reports of any issues with Ants. We will ask Sykes to update the pool opening dates, hope you will return. Property Owner

  • "The holiday apartment was beautifully presented and the views were spectacular."

The “road” into Thurlestone sands is extremely narrow so care needs to be taken. We would not hesitate to book again if only the price hadn’t been hiked so much for next year despite already being increased substantially this year from last. For that reason we are unlikely to book through Sykes again.
