  • "Wonderful property."

Clean with comfortable bed and great shower. Beautiful views and well positioned for shop, pub and walks. A couple of suggestions: Entrance lets it down slightly with recycling bins and dirty mat but once inside it’s such a lovely property. Needs its car parking space labelled as parking for 5 properties. Overall, great place to stay and would book again.

  • "Another lovely stay at this property."

It does not disappoint. Great bungalow, great location. Very clean. As I mentioned before (and suggested by others) I think that another single lounge chair be provided. This is a 4 person let with only comfortable chairs for 3.

  • "Really pleased with the apartment."

It is well presented, the kitchen is excellent. Location was perfect for us. Enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Minor point which may be my error - the battery for the vacuum didn’t seem to charge so I couldn’t clean floors before we left. I did leave a note for housekeepers.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay and would come back."

The property was spacious, well equipped and the beds were very comfortable, the location was very good in being in close proximity to the beach and the local shop. We enjoyed the sunny outside seating area. The EV charger was a major plus for us as there is very little public charging anywhere nearby. Some feedback about things we found slightly annoying were the keysafe we found difficult to operate, and the lounge patio door when locked was difficult to remove the key. Also, we felt the TV would be better positioned opposite the sofa and lower down for comfortable viewing. As others have said there is only comfortable seating for 3 in the lounge which wasn't an issue for us but might be for 4 people.

  • "Main problem - vital to all dog owners this property is NOT SUITABLE for them as is not "dogproof"."

I saw a revue and interpreted this term to mean dog could dig a way out under a fence which I knew our old dog would never do so I booked in confidence. What a mistake!! All the dog has to do is to walk round cottage, one side, or up/&down steps the other side, to the front of the whole property (big house adjacent to cott.), and follow drive -not a long one- out onto the busy road. A holiday for dog-owners is not one at all where owner has to take dog on lead every time it wants to go into garden. Just think about that. We don't even have to do that at home!!!? If I sound cross I jolly well am! I don't feel as if I've had a holiday at all. Bridget and Andrew Penwarden

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you were not able to control your dog. We also have a dog and use the property frequently without any issues. I accept that not all dogs are as well behaved as ours but the listing only says that pets are allowed and pet friendly which it is, not dog proof. We love the house and the village and only really let it so that others can enjoy it when we are not there. I understand that you will have been disappointed but on future trips it might be an idea to double check the security of the garden before booking so that disappointment can be avoided? I am more than happy to chat this further should you wish. Property Owner

  • "As repeat visitors, we knew what to expect and, the cottage is beautiful, with lovely high spec kitchen and bathrooms."

We had a lovely break. As constructive criticism, we were disappointed to find that the double glazing in both sets of patio doors, and much more noticeably in the lounge window, appeared "foggy" and needs replacing. This was the case last year but we put it down to the property not quite being finished, as it was a new let. Also, the lounge sash window is incredibly stiff to push up, and I couldn't manage it at all. The front door sticks and you have to push it really hard, after turning the handle, to get in. As the weather was very warm, a fan would have been appreciated.

MAIN SHOWER HEAD IN REAR BEDROOM DID NOT WORK ALL THE TIME WE WERE THERE, NOT MUCH STORAGE SPACE AND BEING SMALL I COULD NOT REACH HANGING SPACES AT ALL. LOUNGE IS NOT REALLY ADEQUATE FOR MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE, TV FAR TOO HIGH AND NO RADIO. PATIO AREA FURNITURE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE FOR MORE THAN A QUICK MEAL. NO SHADE AT ALL WHEN IT WAS HOT.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Hideaway cottage."

It is extremely well cleaned and comfortable. The living room has a cozy sofa that was really useful when the weather changed during the weekend. It has great facilities, including a top notch kitchen and Sonos sound system. It also has a lovely garden where we did barbecue and enjoyed some sunshine.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at the Hideaway a perfect location for a relaxing time."

The cottage was very clean lovely bed linen, and a comfortable bed, excellent bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped, we would have liked a coffee machine and more mugs, some china mugs perhaps…. We were slightly disappointed with the sitting room not enough comfy seating certainly not for four people thankfully there were just us two. . The biggest disappointment was the outdoor facilities the terrace is shabby and the furniture tired and not for lounging. We were greeted with pot plants dead as dodo which were moved as no amount of watering would have helped. The owner should look at the terrace of flat number 1 to see what should be done.. We loved the pub, the hotel restaurant next door but one, and the superb beaches nearby. Thurlestone a delightful village we hope to return.

  • "We absolutely loved The Hideaway!"

It was a fabulous place to stay in a fantastic location. We love this corner of South Devon & have definitely found a new go-to - we will absolutely stay here again! The house was spotless when we arrived, super clean & the house overall was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was brilliant - really well equipped with everything you might need, & we loved the shared garden at the back. I only gave 4/5 for comfort, only because the lounge doesn't quite have enough seating for a family of 4 to relax & sit comfortably. We were only really home in the evenings anyway, so it wasn't a huge issue, but an additional comfy chair in the lounge would be useful. This absolutely wouldn't stop us staying in future, however. Thank you for having us & what a lovely property to be able to call home for a week!

Tastefully furnished with all facilities to a high standard. Gorgeous garden which our pooch loved. Good location for sightseeing the local area. Only issue was the kitchen extractor not working, so the smoke alarms went off when using the grill.

  • "This is a lovely, well equipped bungalow in a fantastic setting."

Plenty of free off-road parking (a huge bonus in Thurlestone). Very clean on arrival. Two large bedrooms with king sized beds that are very comfortable. Kitchen is a good size and has everything that one would want while on holiday. I would recommend the owner consider having another easy chair in the lounge especially if four persons are staying. My only real criticism is that the toilet paper is very poor quality and only one roll per bathroom (the rolls are not very long !). I would be more than happy to stay here again. The location is ideal being almost next door to the Village Inn and only a short walk to the beaches and coast path.

But it is not good if you have mobility scooter as the gravelled drive makes the scooter wheels dig in also there are many narrow roads in the area so a small car would be advisable .Many nice places to visit but be warned of the roads.

  • "The kitchen is unfinished."

No tiles on the wall, just plywood and exposed electric cables. The dishwasher was not installed properly and a drawer front fell off. These were both speedily repaired by the great Coastal Cottages repair man but it shouldn’t have been necessary to call him out if the kitchen had been finished. The dishwasher issue had been raised by previous guests so why hadn’t it been fixed? The tv has no coax cable which means internet programs only. There isn’t enough seating for 4 people in the living room. It’s a great location and nice cottage let down by lack of attention to detail and responding to previous comments and issues.

  • "The property was very clean, and in excellent condition."

However a down point was the fact that the dishwasher was not properly installed and certainly requires to be fixed securely to its surrounding before someone gets injured or the machine gets damaged. Clearer and more detailed instructions are required regarding the recycling procedures of the household waste. We had to enquire information from our neighbours to make sure we were doing the right thing and conforming to the local authority's rules.

  • "We felt privileged to be the first to take The Hideaway as a holiday let."

My husband and I had a lovely week there (the weather was excellent for April). The property is in an excellent location for walks to the coastal path, and with a pub and hotel (that both do superb food) just a short walk away. There is also a very handy shop nearby for essentials. The Hideaway was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed, and we would happily stay there again.
