"Blue Harbour Cottage is a beautiful property with an easy walk to the harbour and city centre."
The cottage has everything needed, especially when it’s an extended stay and making meals is important. The bed was comfortable and I slept perfectly for 2 weeks. Everything was super clean too! Most important to note though, I have never had such amazing contact from a property owner. Peter, thank you for such wonderful communication in the lead up and during my stay. For this alone, I look forward to coming back in 2025 and would highly recommend Blue Harbour Cottage for a Torquay stay.
Thanks for your kind comments Jo, it's always good to know that our efforts are appreciated. You are of course welcome to stay again as a most considerate guest. Peter Property Owner

"We had a great stay at the cottage, location was great."
Steps to cottage were steep so would consider this if mobility is a issue. Communication was great with owner.
-
"Location amazing, cottage spotlessly clean and very comfortable, bed linen and towels good quality- we didn’t like the sofa in as much as it’s a bit too low down to sit on comfortably but that’s more a personal choice than a criticism- we really couldn’t fault the Cottage at all - just lovely."
Dear Lindsey Thank you for your appreciative comments. The sofa, although a good quality leather covered affair, has been found to be uncomfortable by some guests and so is about to be retired in favour of something more contemporary. Do come back and stay again. Best regards Peter Property Owner

"The cottage certainly does not look like picture advertised."
.Needs a lick of paint..Looks very tired. As per comments in visitor book sofa / settee has seen better days.Overall nice cottage just used as base to sleep in .The small area outside not really usable seat & table rusty and needs weeding and planting tidied up.
-
"This cottage was stunning, exactly like the pictures."
Everything was supplied that you could possibly think of. Beds were extremely comfortable and a lovely welcome gift of milk, Prosecco and fudge. Thank you so much.

"Beautiful cottage and fantastic location i would highly recommend"
Thanks Daniel. I do my best! Property Owner

"Absolutely amazing and really close to harbour and shops perfect"
-
"Lovely cottage well kitted out and comfortable."
Due to bad knees a proper hand rail going up and down stairs would of been useful . it's difficult to hold on to a dado rail. Parking not the best there is a municipal car park 250 yards away But getting a space when you have been out for the day is not easy, you will find the odd one after 8-30 / 9pm . but it is either 4 hours of 24 hours at £10.10p per night you can get a 4 or 8 day pass which is cheaper, but there is no guarantee of a parking spot.

"Blue Harbour met almost all our expectations."
...The position was superb really quiet but within 5 minutes walk to the front. Buses provide an excellent way to get around Torbay. The cottage heating system was easy to operate....the TV was a challenge but we mastered it. Everything was to hand in the cottage and the extras provided by our host were appreciated. Only one criticism the stairs...they are steep and really do require a handrail of some kind. All in all a lovely break
Hi Terry I’m pleased that you had a good time in Torquay. I agree that the stairs are steep, that’s in the description on Sykes website. There are handrails on both sides of the stairs, not the sticky out type there simply isn’t a place for them, and anti slip pads on the stairs themselves for extra safety. Your comments are helpful for prospective guests to decide if the property will suit their need so thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

"We loved our stay at your beautiful cottage and we are already thinking of booking again next year."
We loved the location and cosy feel to the cottage. It had all the amenities we like to see in a cottage. The shower was a particular highlight. The cottage is close to bus stops and the train station is about 25 mins away so great to get around the local area. We barely used our car. We felt we could pop out to walk around the harbour in the evening very easily which we enjoyed. Close to a lovely pub (Hole in the Wall) which we used for a lovely first night meal. The cottage is also in walking distance of the town and shops. We appreciated the welcome gifts especially after such a long drive as we could make a cuppa straight away. For us the only suggestion we would make would be to have thicker curtains or to have blinds in the bedrooms. Obviously this is personal preference but we all (my husband and I and our 8 year old) prefer darker rooms to sleep in.
Dear Wendy. I’m so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Thank you for leaving it so tidy, you are 5 star guests. I’ll think about the blinds idea, the curtains are pretty and cottagy but I can see that they are also rather translucent. Looking forward to your next visit! Peter Property Owner

"Loved Blue Harbour Cottage."
The cottage is in a great location and parking was convenient enough. We had everything we needed and more at the cottage. Instructions left for heating, tv, cooker, recycling etc. Welcomed with milk, fudge and Prosecco! How fab is that! The cottage is delightful, very cosy, bed really comfortable, shower great and because I'm from a hard water area I enjoyed having really soft shiny hair for a week

"Absolutely gorgeous “home from home”!"
Everything you could ask for was provided by Peter, indeed above and beyond with the added extra gifts of welcome Bubbles, Fudge and Milk ☺️ Ideally situate for restaurants, harbour, travel for buses and trains. What more could we ask for……nothing! Thank you Peter
Hi Tracy, Stephen and Oliver. So pleased to know that you had a good time in Torbay and I have to say that you are 5 star guests, you left the cottage in immaculate condition. Warmest regards. Peter Property Owner

"We had an amazing 2 weeks at Blue Harbour cottage."
The cottage had everything you could need for a comfortable stay, with plenty of utensils and crockery. The owner also left us a lovely welcome gift which was a love special touch that we enjoyed. The owner was extremely attentive to ensure we had the best stay with regular communication to ensure we had everything we needed. The cottage is in a great position with Torquay Harbour a short stroll away so the cottage was handy for the town but far enough away to be tranquil and quiet. If I had to give a negative it would only be maybe purchasing a new sofa it was comfy for a short period but then I gives you backache. However this is a very small problem and did not affect our enjoyment on holiday. We had an amazing time thank you Peter would definately recommend.
-
"A little gem tucked away a stones throw from the harbour."
Lovely welcome bottle of fizz and fudge! Arrived in the dark and it was cosy and warm. Would recommend! Thank you.
-
"Reading other reviews before staying saying its not like the photos or issues with the stairs."
Loved the beautiful cosy quiet cottage, looks like the photos. With the grip strips on the stairs there's no issues. I'm heavily pregnant. I have no faults to the place or the area. We really enjoyed our stay. Everything there you need, plenty of information in the welcome packs. Walk away from everything. I would definitely go again.

"Had a lovely 2 week holiday,at the cottage."
Very clean and pretty furnishings One problem no proper hand rail to go upstairs if your disabled . Court yard safe and very good for dogs. Really enjoyed our stay .. Owner very helpful Mr and Mrs Harris

"We had a lovely week in Blue Harbour Cottage."
It was exactly as described, fully equipped with everything we needed. Lovely 'Olde Worlde' decoration and very clean and well cared for . It was about 5 minutes walk to Torquay seafront but nice and quietly tucked away. We didn't hear any noise from the restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone, especially with dogs.
Thank you Janet! You were 5 star guests leaving the cottage so clean and tidy. I hope the dogs found Freddie’s guide useful. Please come back again. Property Owner

"A quaint cottage nicely decorated in a good location close to the Marina and town centre."
Dear Clive. Thanks for the compliment, you were 5 star guests too! I hope you’ll come again. Property Owner

"Great little cottage close to the harbour, pubs, shops, restaurants and beaches."
Can't think of anything we needed that want there and the beds were too comfortable! Information left by the owner was great, particularly for dog owners. Car park very close. Only negatives which are very small and more to do with us rather than the property is it is very tucked away so when you are in the cottage you are very closed in with no view. Also if you take a dog please note the shared courtyard and gate which accesses the road. This is used by two holiday cottages and a flat above the restaurant. Not everyone is too careful about closing gates. Main gate from courtyard has a spring closer so your pooch should be safe but just be careful. All in all an excellent stay and would highly recommend.
-
"A beautiful cottage lovely and quite eter the owner left us tea coffee etc which was a beautiful welcome the cottage is a real cottage feeling and it’s close to the harbour and shopping loved every minute."
Bed really comfortable everything perfect stay
So pleased that you were happy with my little gem! Property Owner

"The stairs in cottage not very safe but I have been told that has been seen ..."
The stairs in cottage not very safe but I have been told that has been seen tithings could do with a little bit of tlc We didn’t last long there because my wife slipped on the stairs but it had all mod cons Shower in a weird position to far to wall
Dear James Of course I was extremely sorry to hear about your wife's fall but I have to take issue with your comment that the stairs are not safe. It is a well constructed wooden staircase, fairly steep as is usual in a traditional cottage. The wood is painted with purpose made floor paint and is not polished during cleaning as this would make the surface slippery. As an additional precaution I have now installed high friction strips on the edge of each tread to further reduce the possibility of accidental tripping or slipping. The cottage is regularly maintained and improved with such items as a new high efficiency gas central heating/hot water system, new washer/dryer, new dishwasher, refurbished bathroom, high quality flame effect "log burner" heater in the lounge, modern internet TV and high speed broadband to give but a few examples. At this stage in the season it will be showing some signs of wear and tear as guests move in and out inevitably leaving traces such as chipped paintwork in their wake. Rest assured that during the "off season", which is very short at this busy property, lots of touching up and maintenance jobs are undertaken. I want my guests to be delighted by their experience in Torquay and I'm really sorry it didn't work out well for you. I hope that you appreciate that I have taken your comments seriously and acted positively on them. Property Owner

"A very enjoyable stay coupled with a fantastic week of hot weather."
The cottage is very much as described and has all you would need for a comfortable holiday. It should be noted though that the parking wardens are very strict, there is a car park round the corner in Meadfoot Road , and it will cost you £50 for a 8 day permit ( this can then be used at any non pay on exit car parks in Torbay) ...don't hang around unloading too long ! Also , the stairs up to the cottage would be challenging for the less than mobile, and that would be the same for the stairs inside leading up to the toilet and bedrooms inside the cottage . There is a dehumidifier in the kitchen, I was amazed at how much water this actually takes out of the air, and I emptied it every day to keep it functioning , there are instructions on the wall ( easy to do ) I've seen other reviews saying there was a smell from the neighbouring Orange Tree restaurant ....well we never smelt a thing and never heard anything either, so that was never an issue. It's a lovely cottage , well situated, and there's a short cut down steps to the harbour area. Finally , thank you to the owner for equipping the place so well, the bed is super comfy, and thank you for the fudge and bubbles that was a really nice touch, We would 100% stay here again . Best regards...Karen
Dear Karen. Thank you for your appreciative comments and also for pointing out that our stairs could be an issue for folk with reduced mobility. You’d be warmly welcomed back. Peter Property Owner

"A few points about the cottage and it's cleanliness: The cooker wasn't clean on our arrival; this had splats of grease on the hob area and the splash back was quite caked with grease as though this has rarely been cleaned, along with the wooden parts on the wall at the side of the cooker also very greasy."
I actually wiped the cooker down before we left leaving it to a better standard than it was when we arrived. The roof of the microwave had splats of food on it, again I wiped this out before leaving, where it was left to a better standard than when we arrived. The whole property appears generally dusty like it needs a thorough deep clean. The cushion covers in the lounge had loads of black hairs on them, this made me feel grubby. I had to take them all outside to clean all the 'dog type hairs' off them. Further to this the bedspread on the main bed also had black hairs on this, although the other bedding was clean this was not. I questioned if this actually gets washed after each guest which I assume not when I saw it. Along with this were the 2 matching pillows to the bedspread that again had black hairs on it and clearly hadn't been freshly washed. The throw on the single bed also looked grubby, it had a brown ish mark on this, and generally looked like it needed washing, again dog type hairs were observed on this. I'm sure the housekeeper noticed I put all of the above items in the 'wash pile' upon leaving to 'hint' they needed washing as it would appear they definitely hadn't been prior to us attending. If you'd like to address these points with the housekeeper as it would seem he/she appears quite particular on how the property is left although the points raised appear very minor. When a property is 'lived in' for a week it is bound to need some cleaning but it seems the very basic work is undertaken by your housekeeping services. Not happy
This guest was politely asked to explain the reason for signs of disrespectful behaviour towards the property and has chosen to take offence and submit a poor review. The review is the complete opposite of the comments left in the visitors book and I include these below verbatim. Midweek review: 1st impression was wow I love it. I love the location, just nicely away from the crowds but close enough too. The quaint little cottage is like home from home. the only thing I would change is the sofa. Them pieces of wood stuck in your back when you lay down aint very comfy. Everything else is spot on. So, it's the end of our lovely little holiday by the sea, its been tremendous, spectacular, superb!! Babbacombe beach is dog friendly, toilets + cafe there and there's a£2 pay car park right next to the beach!! Just a few things I would recommend for the cottage. Blackout curtains, new sofa, that's it. I personally loved the lovely smells of food coming from the Orange Tree, hmmm, lovely!! thank you Peter your place is awesome. "We had a lovely stay at Blue Harbour cottage, lots of walking and exploring."
The bed was amazing, we slept soundly. Enjoyed the nearby restaurants and loved the ambience of ‘the hole in the wall’. Not a complaint at all, just a personal comment that the tv was too small for my husband to see as he has glaucoma and cataracts, we had brought some dvds, I know it’s old school!, but we hate reality tv and soaps!! But even if we could have played them he couldn’t see the small tv screen. No real problem, we weren’t on holiday to watch tv after all. Had a lovely break and the cottage is fabulous. Thank you.
Hi Karen. So glad that you enjoyed your stay in Torquay. I understand your husband’s difficulties, the TV is the biggest practical for the room and is a smart internet connected model that has hundreds of channels and access to things like Netflix and the catch-up channels so there’s plenty of choice. Do come again sometime. Property Owner

"Great little cottage tucked away from the main hustle and bustle."
Peter the owner was very helpful. If you have any mobility issues, this isn't the cottage for you and be aware that parking is chargeable.
Dear Sarah. Thanks for your feedback, glad you had a good time. You are right to point out that old and quirky normally equates to steeper steps and stairs. This is mentioned in the Sykes description but no harm in making sure that folk with mobility issues are made aware. Parking in the town centre is an issue but the weekly permit does allow parking in all of the Torbay car parks so it’s quite good value. Best regards. Peter Property Owner

"My friend and I had a lovely holiday at Blue Harbour Cottage."
The cottage has all amenities and is very cosy. The owner is on hand if you need help. It is really close to the Harbour and main bus stops. We were travelling by local transport which is easy and cheap if you buy the daily ticket. There are lots of restaurants, a co-op and tesco express in the town for food supplies. Our dog was welcomed in the local pubs and restaurants. The pub just down the alley from the cottage( I've forgotten the name , I think the Cole Hole but.. is a great place for food and atmosphere) Visit, you will have a great time.

"We had a lovely time at this beautiful little cottage, it was just perfect."
We had everything we needed close by. We are hoping to return again soon! I have already recommended this cottage to my family and friends

"Very comfortable stay, lovely cottage and perfect location."
Would definitely recommend.
Dear Viv and Andrew. Thanks for the compliments, you are star guests please come again! Property Owner

"The cottage is in an excellent location for the harbour (within very close walking distance), has excellent facilities in the cottage itself, and the two bedrooms are beautiful and very comfortable."
The bathroom is also very well fitted, with a great bath and shower. There are cafes, restaurants and a Co-op within a short walk. What you miss out on view (as traditional cottages, they are closely packed front to back), you certainly make up for in convenience. If you do need to drive, then you don't need to go far for a whole host of beaches and other attractions such as Kents Cavern and the Model Village. Ilsham in particular is a lovely village very close by that has some useful shops, nice playground and a wonderful deli/cafe! In the cottage, there are a couple of places in kitchen and bathroom that will benefit from the 'off-season' refresh in decor, and being such an old cottage we recommend you keep the humidifier running in the kitchen as the owner helpfully suggests - it does the job wonderfully!
Dear Juliet. Thanks for your positive feedback. You've certainly spotted all the advantages of the location and I am trying to make the accommodation as comfortable as possible within the constraints of a quirky old cottage. There are indeed some bumps and scrapes to be attended too but nothing that interferes with your holiday. The cottage is pretty much booked up all year so finding a slot in the winter season isn't always that easy! Do come again, you'd be most welcome. Property Owner

"Sofa a little uncomfortable garden chairs very uncomfortable ,stair handrails not very practical ."
Overall a excellent location, all necessary kitchen facilities would recommend and a competitive e price, ps tv Complicated . Many more pros than cons. Book you wont be disappointed

"I like to think my reviews are balanced and offer constructive criticism so here goes."
Let’s start with the positives. The location is absolutely spot on, five minutes walk to the harbour, shops, pubs and cafes everything is in easy reach. The shower and bath are wonderful and so is the bed in the main bedroom. I can’t comment on the second bed as we didn’t use it. The cottage has everything and possibly more than you will need. Now the not so good. You will need to consider the cost of parking when you are budgeting as no street parking. This cost is an extra £45 for eight days but that does include most of the car parks up and down the coast. The cottage itself is nothing like the photos (hence the title of my review). It is in desperate need of a compete overall. The wooden painted floors must have looked good at one point but now just look a little grimy. The stairs are the same so don’t walk about in socks on them as my wife slipped twice. If you have mobility issues the stairs are not good. The settee in the lounge is old and uncomfortable and looks dirty and so do the cushions (see photos) in fact the whole cottage feels a little dirty not unclean just a little attention to detail needed. The outside court yard could do with a tidy up, the old rusty garden furniture has seen better days and is uncomfortable. The courtyard is also the access for next door cottage so you have people walking past you at random intervals-not for me sorry I like my privacy and this meant we spent less time out there. The cottage also sits behind a restaurant and you can smell the food cooking which is not really the most relaxing thing. The photo of the cottage led me to believe that it was in a prominent seafront position which it is not but I should have researched this for more. The entrance hall, the bathroom floor and drainer have been done in this strange pebbles and grout and again it might have looked good once but now just looks dirty. The cottage is old so there is a bit of a damp smell which is understandable however the diffusers and candles all over the house are empty and just collecting dust so why not either fill them up or get rid. That brings me to other things that need removing. In the cupboards there is food from previous guests (I’m presuming). We found half a jar of lemon curd, sachets of dips from takeaway’s, opened mayonnaise and jars of spices opened and the list goes on. Now I am not going to eat this as for one I don’t know when it was opened let alone by who so just bin it. There is plenty of cleaning products which is great but I know that you should not be writing on sprays that it’s ‘anti bacterial spray’ this is surely against COSHH regulations. Let’s finish on a positive. The weather was fantastic and at home we usually have a fan but the cottage didn’t have any. We contacted Peter the owner who promptly provided us with two desk fans which were very welcome. Would we go again no but don’t let me stop you. Two stars are for location, bed and shower.
Dear Nicola Thanks for your constructive feedback. It's always good to have "strange eyes" look at a property and I will take note and action on several of your points such as the stuff left in the food cupboards and the diffusers. The cottage is indeed an old property that is part of its charm. The air in Torquay is damp and that's why I have a dehumidifier running in the kitchen, I think that you had turned it off for some reason. Properties in such a central location here don't have parking and you're right to say that this is an additional cost but as you can use all the carparks in the whole bay area you would probably pay just as much for parking away from the cottage on day trips. The courtyard shared access is mentioned in the cottage description and whilst not ideal is common in the very centre of the town and at least you are sharing with other holiday guests staying in the next door cottage. The house was decorated with the beams and pebble flooring by the previous owner who is a talented artist. Most people find the pebbles quirky and attractive but being grey pebbles in grey grout I can see that this is not a universal opinion. During the season the paintwork gets knocked about a bit by guests, some less careful than others, and I have to wait until I get a clear period in the winter to get the paint pot out. The cottage is pretty much booked up all year so I have to pick my time to do maintenance work. There is an ongoing programme of upgrading and I have replaced the boiler/heating system, living room stove and refitted the bathroom in the last couple of years. This will continue as needs suggest and funds allow. I assure you and all my guests that the cottage is thoroughly cleaned after each guest by a professional housekeeper who has high standards. Nothing is grimy at the start of a holiday. I'll look into refreshing the outside photo and I have remodelled the patio area and repainted the house front. I don't think it looks all that different and certainly isn't meant to deceive. Finally, I always encourage guests to contact me immediately they have an issue as I only live a few minutes from the cottage and am more thank happy to come and see what can be done to resolve the matter such as I did with your request for fans. "Beautiful property that was perfect for our week stay in Torquay!"
Very comfortable and everything we needed - it really was a home from home! Great location with only a couple of minute walk down to the harbour, and some really great restaurants and bars nearby. A great base to explore the beaches and surrounding areas!
-
"A lovely Comfy Cottage , well equipped , very comfy bed with lovely fresh bedding ."
Great location to the harbour . Dog friendly , Lots of good takeaways close by , the Cottage sits behind the Orange tree restaurant which we would have loved to try , but unable to as we had the dog with us . Good hosts who communicated well , also some nice touches of fresh milk etc for your first cuppa and a nice bottle of chilled Prosecco in the fridge . We would return
Thanks for your appreciative comments. May I compliment you on the care you took of the little cottage? You are more than welcome to return! Property Owner
-
"This is a lovely cottage, very well located for restaurants etc."
The owner had provided everything we needed and left a very thoughtful welcome gift of prosecco and fudge, plus milk and tea/coffee. Beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, The bed was super comfy too!
-
"We very much enjoyed our stay at Blue Harbour Cottage, the location was excellent, facilities were great and the bed was very comfy indeed."
-
"Fantastic location with a superb pub within 2 minutes walk make this property a real gem."
Great space for 3 guests but the stairs may prove difficult for those with reduced mobility. The kitchen is fully stocked with white goods and all crockery and cutlery is in good condition and plentiful. Heating system is great, ensuring a cozy temperature even in the harshest winter. Torquay Harbour is easily within a 5 minute walk with dozens of pubs, restaurants and shops to suit all tastes. Excellent communications from the owner made for a very easy process throughout. Be aware that a 7 day stay will require an 8 day parking permit which costs £42. However this allows access to many other Torbay Council run car parks in the area, so it isn’t too bad value. The nearest car park to the property is a very short walk away. Would certainly stay again.
-
"Really enjoyed our 4 night stay at Blue Harbour."
The cottage was warm welcoming and comfortable and a great location for easy access to the harbour shops restaurants etc. Would definitely stay here again
-
"Absolutely fantastic cottage."
Lovely decor, quiet, comfortable but so close to the Marina, bars and restaurants. Would highly recommend.
-
"We had a wonderful weeks holiday at this lovely cottage, very centrally located and set back from the roadside up a pathway with several steps."
The cottage is very well maintained and has all the amenities required for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. We found the owner to be very helpful, getting back quickly with answers to our questions and great advice, especially walks for our little dog. Thank you Peter, we would love to return again in the future. Steve, Julia and Ted.
-
"Delightful cottage, well equipped and great attention to detail."
Brilliant location, really enjoyed our stay.
-
"First thoughts were that it was a cosy comfortable cottage with everything that we needed for a weeks holiday plus a bottle of Prosecco, fudge and milk to welcome us."
The lounge was relaxing with an electric fire that was lovely in the evening and the kitchen was well equipped. The bed was really comfortable and there were lots of space for our clothes, the bathroom was a good size and the shower amazing. The little courtyard at the front was a bonus and we sat out having a brew on a few occasions. One of the main things that really surprised us was how quiet it was especially at night as it was behind the restaurant on the busy road. There is not a car parking space but there is one not far away, this was not a problem for us. There are lots of restaurants pubs cafes and takeaways nearby and it’s easy to hop on a bus which is also nearby. We had a wonderful holiday and a lot of it was due to the excellent accommodation provided by Peter. Thank you
-
"What a brilliant cottage."
The location was second to none. The owner has been very thoughtful in providing all that was required (and more) in a cottage setting. Placed just behind The Orange Tree Restaurant, it is a great place to be and also close to the best pub in town - Hole in the Wall. Nothing was too much for the owner. Will return. Well done
-
"Had a lovely stay at Blue Harbour."
It is so close to everything but still quiet. The bed is really comfy and the dog was made to feel very welcome.
-
"It was a lovely cottage with great attention to detail."
Location is brilliant, so easy to walk to harbour and town. Cottage is really lovely
-
"We had a fabulous stay at Blue Harbour Cottage this week and were lucky to catch the start of the mini heatwave towards the end of our stay - no better place to be than on the beaches of Devon!"
We loved the fact that the cottage was slightly set back from the main drag so felt like a peaceful haven but within easy walking distance of central Torquay. Everything was provided and it was lovely to return to each day. The advice about buying a weekly parking permit was spot on, it made it easy to explore the whole Torbay area. I recommend Torre Abbey Sands for swimming too!
-
"The cottage had everything that we needed."
It wasn't as big as we expected but it was ample. The description about the stairs is correct and there are stairs in the cottage too that are quite steep. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is very good. There is everything needed in the cottage.
-
"The cottage was lovely."
Did not like area. Had to use car alot to visit places like Totnes, Dartmouth etc. My car got damaged in car park, so will never book again without parking. Advertising somewhere as dog friendly just because they take dogs for us is not enough. Beeches were not dog friendly. No space for her just a small yard and small park area near by. We are used to lots of areas to walk. Torquay was very, very busy. Full of drinkers. Like a Skegness in the south. The Harbour is nice. Only holiday where I was wanting to come home.
-
"Great cottage, very close to the town centre."
Everything needed was there including a lovely welcome gift. The cottage was lovely and clean and we would return.
-
"Lovely cottage in great location with everything you needed."
Would definitely use again.
-
"Great comfortable cottage, had everything we needed and great location for exploring Torbay"
-
"We had a wonderful time at Blue Harbour Cottage."
Everything you need to feel comfortable is there. The location of the cottage is perfect for the harbour, the parks, the town and the beaches. There are new contemporary pubs and restaurants as well as the oldest pub in Torquay right on your doorstep. Torquay is also a perfect base for the beautiful walks and sights of Dartmoor and the river Dart, especially if you bring your dog. You can visit quiet beaches with a picnic, paddle board, snorkle, kayak and swim. The choice is yours how active you wish to be.
-
"My family had a great time, it’s very cosy and close to the harbour and sea front."
Will definitely book again at some point!

"One of our best X-mas ever!"
Perfect cottage, - nice, warm, super clean. Our host was the most generous host we ever had - and we had a lot of hots in our life. When we arrived we found wonderful x-mass decoration already, a cake and a bottle of Champagne. The whole time we were in contact with our host and he gave us lots of infos about the region and what to do. We had a great time! Thanks Peter!
-
"A most beautiful and quaint cottage."
Decorated with a lot of TLC and equiped with everything you need and more! Close to fantastic places to explore, surrounded by very nice pubs, restaurants and shopping facilities. Public parking nearby. Well, what more to say what other might not have said yet? What to say to people who are looking at this property? YES, book it. You won't regret it. It is a home from home!!!
-
"I would like to say that our stay at Blue Harbour Cottage was great , Very relaxing and the cottage was fantastic."
Mr Cox was very thoughtful in many ways.
-
"The cottage does not look anything like the photos it needs some tlc."
The outside requires some serious sprucing up, the garden furniture is all rusty and tatty and the so called garden is just a bed of dead plants and weeds.
-
"The cottage was lovely, very traditional and keeping in with the surrounding properties."
The stairs are a little steep so perhaps not the best if you are unsteady on your feet or not very able bodied.
-
"Great cottage fantastic location not a problem for us but there are some steep ..."
Great cottage fantastic location not a problem for us but there are some steep steps up to the cottage this could cause a problem for a older person would definitely use again owner was very helpful left a bottle of prosecco for use nice touch
-
"Lovely cottage, central to all amenities in Torquay but situated in a quiet spot away from the noise of traffic."
Good access to internet. Very clean, well equipped and dog friendly. There are steps leading up to the cottage and very steep wooden stairs to upper floor, which may be a problem for some. There is a short walk to the nearest car park in Meadfoot Road and to a grassy area in Torwood Gardens for exercising a dog. We had a superb holiday and the cottage made a homely and comfortable base for our day trips to all the various beauty spots in and around Torbay and Dartmoor.

"Photo of the property is totally misleading!"
This cottage is located at the back of a restaurant! When the restaurant is active the vent from the kitchen pumps cooking smells into the outside space, this also means you can't open a window if you are indoors☹️ The cottage itself is nice and very quirky, however the curtains are paper thin and don't contain enough fabric so be prepared for some extremely early mornings.

"Cottage was beautiful and right in the centre of all amenities."
Very clean and the beds were so comfy and the prosecco and fudge was a lovely gesture. Will definitely be back

"Property was clean and had everything needed."
Bed was very comfortable.

"My dog Henry and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the sweet Blue Harbour Cottage, which was well located - walks could start straight from the cottage arriving at the South West Coast Path in a few minutes or good public transportation could be taken from a bus stop a few minutes’ walk away."
The cottage had everything one could need for a week by the coast, including a log burner which was handy in December. The cottage is set back from Parkhill Road, which made it very quiet. The host was available to answer any questions and even allowed us a later than usual check out given our train was in the afternoon and even offered to bring more logs as I didn’t have a car to transport them. I would definitely recommend Blue Harbour Cottage!

"We had a lovely holiday."
The cottage is lovely and ideally situated close to amenities. The steps to the property may be an issue for some people, I would have struggled with our pushchair had my husband not been with me. Just something to bear in mind. The cottage itself is very true to the pictures on the website. Very shabby chic and beautiful. It welcomes pets which is nice, although we didn’t take ours in the end. The neighbours have access through the garden to their property, but this wasn’t an issue as we were out most days. The landlord went above and beyond: leaving milk in the fridge (along with a bottle of bubbly), texting to let us know that the property was ready; letting us know of any issues left behind by the previous holidaymakers and telling us not to rush to leave as no one else was booked in that day. Thank you so much, we will be booking again in the future.

"We had a great time, the cottage is walking distance to everything."
It had everything we needed except the towels. One small thin towel per person wasn't enough. We ended up buying a couple towels. It was very clean inside. Outside could do with a bit of a tidy. The cottage is not disable friendly. If you have bad knees or other difficulties getting around I wouldn't recommend this cottage, it has steep stairs leading to the cottage and inside the cottage. The wood fire was fantastic and the bed was warm and cozy. You can't park in front on the street. The public car park is around the corner not far from the cottage. You have to go on line to purchase a parking permit. We paid £35 for 6 days which wasn't a big deal, but would think about it in the future. The cottage has everything you need for your stay. It doesn't catch the sun during the day so if you enjoy a coffee in the morning sun this isn't for you. Thank you Blue Harbour Cottage for your hospitality. The champagne and clotted cream fudge was a nice touch.

"The cottage was in a great location 2 minutes walk from the town."
It was everything we needed for a base to explore Torquay and surrounding areas. The owner of the cottage was lovely. He had already gifted us a bottle of wine ,then on finding out it was my birthday and wedding anniversary got us another bottle and some tasty fudge. Great holiday . Look forward to returning.

"The owner was extremely helpful, freindly and considerate, by leaving milk tea, coffee and prossecco on arrival."
The cottage was very well maintained and comfortable I would not hesitate in recommending this quaint fishermans cottage to others. The location was also good for access to the harbour and amenities.

"Lovely cottage everything you could want or need, great location."
Owner went out hi s way to check we were ok or if we needed anything which we really appreciated. Would definitely go back again we had a fantastic week.

"Disappointing."
..Had no garden.shared entrance.no privacy. The sofa was as uncomfortable as the Victorian sleeping bench for the poor.We were forever banging ourselves on the hidden planks of wood in it.scruffy entrance ,dead leaves / shrubs.mouldy sitting left in front. We left after 4 days as the shared entrance was forever being left open.Had we stayed would of lost our dog on the road outside. The property is above the kitchens of the restaurant so all evenings had cooking smells/dishes clanking till late.Woken most mornings by seagulls on opposite roof at 4.30 as one neigboour regular feeds them.Could not relax the whole time. However the cottage is decorated lovely.

"A very lovely cottage has every thing you need for your stay owner left tea ,coffee, milk for when you arrive and a very nice bottle of fizz ,made you feel very welcome , also left lots of information on places and things to do on your holiday everywhere we went the people where very helpful and friendly ."

"Lovely character filled cottage."
Lots of attention to detail inside. The best double bed we've ever slept on in any holiday home! It is nicely off the main busy front too. It would have been a higher score but the only things that weren't perfect was the walkthrough garden (although the neighbour was very pleasant); and loading and unloading can be problematic as the traffic warden is very keen. Thank you for a lovely break.

"I was a really nice cottage in a great location but the garden was not secure as another family had right of way through it and this meant I could not leave my dog alone there while I did things in the house."
The house also had pop corn in the some of the rooms which the dog loved but we did not appreciate and although the 35 pounds for parking was clearly mentioned on the description we had searched for cottages with parking and had not realized the extra cost until after we had booked.. I would recommend this cottage for couples without young children or dogs.

"Perfect little cottage in a convenient location."
Easy to explore Torquay on foot. Felt comfortable having our dog with us. Felt so welcome we would definitely stay again.
-
"This cottage might not be suitable for people with mobility issues as the access is via an uneven path and steps which is unlit at night."
The cottage is comfortable and nicely furnished though. It is close to the harbour and shops with plenty of places to eat nearby. Because of the location of the cottage behind a restaurant there's no view to speak of if you like that kind of thing.
-
"Lovely, homely,comfortable cottage."
Everything you needed to hand.Very good location, only 5 mins walk into Torquay town. Would stay there again.
-
"As we walked up to the cottage the hand rail was loose, and we got into the cottage the stairs were wooden and very steep i was so worried about falling and had to go one step at a time, and almost slipped from the bathroom stairs."
although the sofa looked very nice at first glance, it was so low even the table was higher, if you are have dexterity problems this is not good, i sat most of the time on a dinning room chair. as the sofa was very hard to get up from. no clothes airier. DVD player would have been nice, (we had to go out and buy one) outside the garden area needed attention.
-
"Amazing location, comfy beds, absolutely everything you need in this cottage."
missing it already.
-
"Cottage was very nice and adequately equipped with all you would need."
-
"I would have liked a more comfortable settee in the property that we stayed but in general I was quite happy with the accommodation."
-
"The Cottage has access via an alley way and the view of the cottage is from the alley way."
The cottage had nice modern features and beds were clean and comfortable but the floors were not clean when we arrived (dog hair under sofa and under rug and rug not hoovered properly). It was a good central location however parking was difficult (although did manage to find on road free parking for entire stay 10 minutes walk away). The sofa in the living room was not comfortable and had a hard, hidden, wooden post in the middle of the seats which all of us hurt ourselves on at some point during the holiday. Overall small cottage in good, central location but improvements to seating and floor cleaning would have been desirable.
-
"Beautiful cottage, decorated to a high standard, quiet location but easy to get to the harbour, contained all mod cons for a home from home experience."
Perfect relaxing holiday - will go back.
