  • "I would not recommend this property."

We stayed there for a week in March and found that we were asked to comply with numerous trivial demands. For example, we were required not to let our dog urinate in the garden unless we sluiced it down afterwards. Also, we were supplied with stained sheets which were blamed on us afterwards and threatened with a cleaning bill. We left the property in good condition but were accused of leaving dirty sheets and towels (this was just through normal use).

Dear professor Gregory Atkins, in response to your complaint I would like to respond : firstly, our cottage is for everyone to enjoy, especially families with young children, so it is paramount that all areas are kept clean and are hygienic this includes the patio and grass areas, we don’t feel it is unreasonable for owners to clean up after their dogs, other requests for example : putting your rubbish out for collection, washing your dishes, emptying your ash from the fire etc are reasonable requests that are also requested by other Sykes owners. With reference to the bedding / linen, I can understand how embarrassing it must be have been to have left your mess for my housekeeper to remove, the stained and soiled bedding / towels has had to be intensely laundered to remove the stains / bodily fluids or what ever was on them ? people do have accidents, some people are incontinent, but it would have been polite to let us know so we could have pre warned our housekeeper. We are not in the habit of accusing anyone, however, when we are presented with numerous photos from our housekeeper we have no choice but to inform Sykes who have copies of all the photos for your reference. We would not recommend you to any Sykes owners Property Owner
