  • "We booked Chy Lowenna last minute, the day before arrival, due to planned holiday being cancelled."

We arrived to a very clean and ultimately comfy holiday home, with a supply of sweets, biccies and flowers on the table. The chalet was surprisingly warm and the facilities good, although we didn't know about the immersion heater for washing up for a couple of days! As a family of 5, I do like a washing machine, but we packed accordingly. The site is very quiet and the road up to it very narrow which can be alarming for some. Close to Liskeard for the essentials.

Glad you found the home warm, very clean and comfy. The holiday site is in a lovely, tranquil Cornish valley, which does come with rural lanes. But is only 2 miles from the bustling town of Liskeard. Which has public transport links via bus or train to places such as the historic harbour town of Looe and The Famous City of Plymouth. • "A well loved and presented bungalow."

We found the beds comfortable and linen lovely and clean. A well equipped property with all required items to make a pleasant stay. Could not work out how to make the fridge warmer as it was too cold for fresh food and the shower did not seem to be easily adjustable. During heavy rain there was a leak above kitchen sink window. Great location with lots of walks on the doorstep, set in a pretty valley. Not too far from the beaches with a variety of attractions nearby.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday and found the property clean and well equipped. If guests have any queries regarding our property during their stay, we urge them to please phone us. We are always very happy to help. The fridge temperature is adjustable by pressing the button inside the fridge at the top. The green light with numbers above indicates the fridge temperature 2, 4 and 6 degrees Celsius (6 being the warmest). Thank you for bringing the kitchen window leak to our attention. We will have that investigated. We will also check the shower. Many thanks for holidaying with us, Best wishes, Trystan & Julie Property Owner

  • "Chy Lowenna is clean, comfortable and well presented."

It is stocked with all the essentials you need for your holiday. It’s in a great location just a short drive from lots of lovely little towns and beaches. We had a great stay there. The travel cot provided was great for my baby and she slept really well in it. The only thing that would improve it even more in my opinion would be the option of having a high chair too.

We are really glad you enjoyed your holiday and found the property clean and well equipped. We do have a high chair available on request as well as the cot. We have now asked our agent to include this in the property listing. Many thanks for bringing it to our attention. Very best wishes. Trystan & Julie. Property Owner

Julie met us and showed us everything we needed, she was so lovely and welcoming, nothing was a problem. The bungalow was so comfortable and well equipped, beautifully clean a real home from home. Lovely quiet park but everyone seemed very friendly. Great dog walks just up the lane, always a lovely way to round our days off after exploring wonderful Cornwall.

Thank you for your feedback. Our priority is always to make sure our guests feel as though it is a home from home. So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Trystan and Julie. Property Owner

Thank you for the flowers and cake lovely touch. Quite area. No internet but that was nice for us a week with no sitting watching our phones. Would recommend

  • "From the outset, Julie and Trystan, our hosts, couldn’t have been better."

Helpful and very friendly. On arrival, we found Chy Lowenna to be spotlessly clean, really immaculate. Well furnished and with all of the equipment we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable indeed and the linen and towels, like the property itself, were super clean and fresh. The park is very quiet. We return regularly because of this. It’s in a beautiful spot in the middle of the countryside but with easy access to the coast and Liskeard for your shopping. There are some lovely walks around the lanes and of course we paid for our son to fish on the lake across the lane. The lake is very beautiful and peaceful. A lovely place to relax. We could not fault Chy Lowenna or our hosts. Flowers and treats on arrival were a surprise and really made it even more special. Thank you so much again Julie and Trystan, we’ll be back!

Hi Alison, Thank you for your kind words. We always make sure our property is spotlessly clean for our guests and are always happy to help in any way we can. • "A wonderful stay."

The cottage is comfortable and homely. The site is very quiet except for the glorious ‘dawn chorus’ every morning. Our host, Julie was very friendly and helpful. The cottage had everything we needed, it was very well maintained and warm. The beds were particularly comfortable, the shower electric so instant and hot. The setting is perfect for a peaceful stay. Just be aware that, with most of Cornwall it seems, there is no internet connection, and very little mobile phone coverage. I would recommend this cottage to “get away from it all”.

So pleased you enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the cosy cottage feel. Best wishes, Trystan & Julie Property Owner

The bungalow was extremely clean and comfortably catered for our party of 3 adults (one with mobility issues) and a 13 year old. The location of the bungalow is ideal, based on a very small, quiet, but picturesque site. It is also ideally positioned to explore the area on the east coast (Looe, Polperro, Charlestown, Falmouth, Mevagissey etc), as well as the west coast (Padstow, Tintagel, Port Issac etc). Perfect accommodation and location to enjoy the very best of this wonderful County.

The property, located on a well-established holiday park and owned by an experienced, helpful and friendly couple, was spotless on arrival. The bungalow did exactly what it said on the tin. It was a great base to explore Devon/Cornwall and it was a great place to relax at the end of the day. We would definitely return to this property, later this year (if available) or next year.

  • "We did not expect wifi as I emailed in advance about its availability and was told 'no'."

However, we did expect a G3 signal. Also, the brochure in the actual cottage explained how we could connect to wifi and got our hopes up: but then that information proved to be inaccurate and applicable only to certain cottages on the site (so the brochure should really not be placed in this particular cottage). This was a last-minute booking because the previous booking, made via Tripadvisor (who, by the way, I won't be using again as they provided misleading information) fell through as it transpired we were not allowed to bring our dog. This one was advertised as dog-friendly and that was very good, with many other dog owners and a nearby wood for walking the dog. It would be useful to have an enclosed garden so that the back-door could be kept open for air circulation and so that the dog can run about outside without a leash. I was also a bit worried about the cottage having fitted wall-to-wall carpet as a dog can get muddy. However, the carpet is quite heavy-duty so it was OK but I would prefer a washable floor. The experience was a bit like travelling back in time to the 1970s; the architecture seemed 1970s (possibly 1950s?) with the quaint pound-coin electricity meeting providing extra period flavour. I guess back then it was also considered fine to have one bathroom shared between six people; today's expectations are a bit higher but we knew this when we booked. Due to covid, the games and DVDs were removed (although an email a week before travel told us there would be games and DVDs - it would be a good idea not to include that in the email) and the Village Inn was closed (a pity!).

3G Mobile Signal: We are sorry you had poor phone reception. Unfortunately, we have no control over the positioning of mobile phone masts in Cornwall. Wifi: Apologies for the lack of Wi-Fi. Yes, there has been an issue on site with Wi-Fi because the site owners are upgrading. However the info in the property did state that Wi-Fi was not guaranteed. We do say ‘No Wifi’ on our property info with Sykes which as you say, you were aware of. Enclosed gardens: It is an open plan site and as such unfortunately enclosed gardens are not permitted. But as you stated there are lovely rural walks and Rosecraddoc Woods adjacent to the site where dogs can be exercised freely. Wall to wall carpets: As you stated, the carpet is extremely heavy duty and more than adequate to cope with dirty dog paws In our experience, dog owners are very responsible and wipe any dirt from their dogs before entering the property. We have had no problems with dog owners during our 6 year ownership of the property. You, as a dog owner were also extremely respectful of the property. Thank you for that. One Bathroom: As you said, you realised the property had only one bathroom before booking as it is clearly stated on the property info with Sykes. In your particular case there were only three people So one bathroom was probably not an issue anyway. Non-essential items such as cushions, blankets, Games and DVDs were removed as advised by our agent for our guest’s safety due to the possibility of Covid transmission. Interior architecture: Our property is advertised as a ‘Cosy Cornish Cottage’. All rooms are clearly visible on Sykes Website prior to booking. We are sorry you found it to be old fashioned and not to your liking. I can only suggest you take more time to study the interior décor before booking your next holiday property. The ‘quaint pound-coin meter’ exists because not all of our guests have electricity included in the price. You were sensible and booked through Sykes Cottages which includes your electricity. Thank you for holidaying in our property and for rating it 100% for cleanliness. Cleanliness is very important to us, especially at this time. Our main priority is to keep our guests safe.
