  • "What a gem of a property!"

So quiet, homely and has every amenity you require. Great location to explore this beautiful part of the world. Local town was lovely and within walking distance. Only issue we had was getting onto the road off the driveway, as mentioned on previous reviews. Definitely requires signage and mirrors to aid exiting driveway. But this wouldn’t stop me from returning time and time again.

  • "Another lovely stay at Silver Crooks such a lovely warm inviting home with the added bonus of the hot tub unfortunately due to NO fault of the owners the hot tub had a fault and even though Kath was away on holiday herself she went above and beyond to get the matter sorted as quickly as possible."

Kath is such a lovely person and always happy to help and support you if needed. Look forward to returning again soon.

Excellent location for exploring Devon and Cornwall. It was lovely meeting Kath (the owner) she was so easy to approach and friendly she made us feel very Welcome. We look forward to returning in the future

  • "We stayed in the property twice this year (February & October) and find it an ideal location for easy access to North Devon & Cornwall."

The house is clean enough throughout and the only downside is the bedding (duvet and pillows) are a tad cheap but other than that i'd recommend the house for larger groups. As other reviews have mentioned exiting the drive is a bit dodgy as both directions have blind bends close to the exit (and some people do drive far too fast) so a mirror opposite would help The big plus is the hot tub overlooking the field which was amazing, especially as we got perfect weather to enjoy it.

  • "We had a lovely stay, a huge old house with lots of character, everything you need for your stay is included."

Super clean, comfy beds -idyllic location close to Bude- with the added bonus of a beautiful hot tub over looking the fields. Had a week of bliss and chance to unwind- would love to come back. Thank you so much to owner Kath. Highly recommend.

  • "The property was clean, well equipped and comfortable."

The hot tub was a lovely extra and the reason we booked the property. There were fresh flowers in lots of the rooms downstairs and a sachet of cappuccino and a biscuit x4. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean. The owner popped in to say hello the morning after our arrival and lives just across the field at the back. Silver Crooks could be so much better. The upstairs shower was little more than a dribble and the downstairs only a little better. The bed in the master bedroom despite being comfortable, was really creaky. We had quite disturbed sleep and left a day early. When it rained the water leaked through the conservatory roof and we were often mopping and trying to catch it in the mop bucket. The kickboard under the dishwasher came off on our toes every time the dishwasher door was opened. Cars move very fast on the road outside so we had to use the car to get into the village as there was no footpath and the route across the fields was too muddy to use. The property itself is full of old vintage charm. It would have been nice if the welcome features included a small basket of local produce, some milk or tea. A first basket of logs or a fire being set up in the grate in case it was needed would have been a nice touch. The cupboards were totally bare, not even a pinch of salt and pepper could be found so you will need to bring EVERYTHING with you.

  • "We had the most amazing 5 day stay at Silver Crooks."

The house is very well equipped and everything was spotless. The bedding and towels were really soft and smelled wonderful. Kath was a great and really communicative and friendly, letting us know that if we needed anything at all then to just ask. The highlight for us was the hot tub and bbq area. The house is such a good size so plenty of room to spread out and relax. We will most certainly look at coming back again.

The area was great to travel to and from to different places in Devon and was nice and peaceful in the evenings. The owner, who we where lucky to meet was lovely and we where made to feel very welcome. The hot tub was great after a long day of site seeing to relax and admire the beautiful views. Silver Crooks will definitely be on our to stay again list. It's a beautiful home, with plenty of room for a large family to live in comfortably

  • "Fantastic home from home, very clean and well kept gardens with all you need to hand and Kath very friendly on our arrival."

Amazing views from the hot tub and a very peaceful relaxing stay. Only two small things, showers are not very powerful maybe the pressure in the area isn’t very good and as on a slight bend and on a down gradient the drive is not the best on exiting, maybe some mirrors on the adjacent hedge would help. But only little things and did not effect our stay in the least.

  • "The house was lovely and easily accommodated 5 adults and 2 dogs."

The hot tub and patio area were a great addition, although could of done with a gate. Only very small details knocked the score down such as the shower upstairs wasn’t very powerful but did stay hot and there wasn’t any information of rubbish disposal so had to buy bin-bags and leave them in the garage. But like I say, only very small details as the rest of the house and grounds where lovely.

  • "What a beautiful house, just what we needed in all ways, the dog had a field to run in, we all had a hot tub with a gorgeous view to laze about it."

Plenty of room to sit and relax in the house and conservatory. Ample room for our cars. Silent location, yet near enough to walk into Holsworthy, avoiding the main (not busy) road. Would have been nice to have a pack of playing cards, or a few games that we could have used, although if we’d have asked, I’m sure Kath the owner would have been more than happy to help us out. Communication with Kath was also amazing, any questions were answered quickly while we were at the property, as well as before we arrived. I would definitely consider staying again. Thank you.

Host was very friendly and easy to contact. For me the shower could do with a little more pressure and coming out of the drive could use a mirror help see what is coming on the road. Brilliant home from home.

The owner kath is a nice lady and very helpful and understanding. Its a great place to chill out the hot tub very relaxing its away from the rat race and the speed of life.Just be careful of the road cars and other vehicles come past very fast at times could do with a set of gates at the top of the ramp especially if you have young children playing on bikes etc. Other than that we will BE BACK .Kind regards Dave and family.

  • "The house was beautifully furnished and appointed."

Everthing perfectly clean. A real home from home. Kath was the friendliest, most welcoming of people, nothing was too much trouble for her. Coffee and biscuits were available on arrival and beautifully scented, fresh flowers graced the dining room table. Just outside the back door, there's a massive double garage to accommodate your own cars although it limits views. Well kept, open garden to front of house overlooking a lane. 360 degree countryside views from upstairs are wonderful. A great base to get around North Devon and North Cornwall or just to relax in. Thank you.
