"This property was in a really good position on the edge of Watchet, very close to the sea."
It was however suffering from end of season blues. It was a bit grubby, a bit shabby and down at heal. That said we would return and the dog had a great time.
Thank you for your feedback. I’m really glad you enjoyed your holiday but obviously sad you felt the cottage needed a freshen up. Now this has been brought to our attention, we will be going through the property to make sure everything is looking it’s best. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage with lots of character, situated very close to the village centre and a stones throw from the beach."
-
"This is a lovely well equipped spacious and comfortable cottage with everything you need."
Fully enclosed garden suitable for the dogs. We managed to park our large Kuga on the drive without too much trouble. Set in the heart of Watchet but is a surprisingly quiet cottage. 2 mins walk to lots of nice eateries and shops. The icing on the cake is directly opposite the property is a slipway onto a year round dog friendly beach. Navigate a few stones and there’s a lovely sandy stretch ideal for the dogs to have a good run. The owners are nice people who are local and on hand if needed. Would definitely recommend this place.

"We had a fantastic break for 1 week in this comfortable, cosy, well-equipped cottage."
It was spotlessly clean with a lovely garden that was safe for our little dog. Communication with the owner was excellent. The parking space was much appreciated and the location is ideal for exploring the town and further afield. In Watchet, we enjoyed Pebbles for a welcoming drink and The Star for a good Sunday Lunch. The Spice Merchant, Indian Restaurant, and Take Away are exceptional. Dunster and its castle made for a great day out as did a driving tour of Exmoor. Would also recommend Porlock Weir where you can buy Oysters from Porlock Bay Oysters. Overall a fantastic few days in a lovely cottage, we would definitely. recommend
-
"Delightful property, very comfortable and cosy."
Extremely well equipped and ideally situated for local shops, restaurants and pubs. The garden is so safe and secure for dogs and lovely to spend time in on a sunny day. Beach, which is also dog friendly literally a stones throw away. Couldn’t fault it.
-
"Green gates is a delightful cottage."
The accommodation was spacious and well furnished. We loved the dining room with the exposed brick and beams. The kitchen was well equipped, yet still felt quaint, the cooker was excellent. Loved the sea views. We also appreciated the secure garden, which our dog enjoyed. Close to the town and pubs, also great for touring. Would definitely recommend.
-
"Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable in an excellent location."
Really enjoyed our stay.
-
"We had a lovely stay, a very comfortable well equipped cottage in a great position."
Very cosy with a great garden for the dogs. Watchet is a lovely town and North Devon is easily reachable. We would definitely return.
-
"Lovely Cottage."
Well equipped. Everything you need for a relaxing stay. Perfect location. Just a stones throw from the beach. Warm and cosy. Could not fault the cottage at all.
-
"What a wonderful property in a great location."
Everything was immaculate and included everything you could have wanted (and more). The owner provided an abundance of information relating to both the property and local area. The garden was completely enclosed so great for our four legged companion. Watchet has everything you could need and is an ideal base to explore Somerset and North Devon. We will definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"Lovely house, literally 50 yards to the beach (across the road)."
Great garden, especially for the dog. It's a bit quirky inside (which isn't a bad thing at all) but absolutely easy to navigate and spacious. Bedrooms are very nice, the shower room and shower/bathroom are very useful too. You're literally 150 yards from the centre of Watchet's seafront/harbour - but the house is quiet and you're not disturbed. The only thing to note is I drive a Peugeot 307...and I wouldn't really want to try and park anything bigger in the space at the front of the property - but the description does make that clear and there are alternative parking places very near to the house. Most importantly - Tim was an absolute star both before and during our stay - he really is a lovely guy who did everything he could to make us feel welcome and gave us some great local tips too. Dream owner. We really liked our stay and would heartily recommend Greengates to you.
Thanks so much for your kind review and for staying at Greengates. It was such a pleasure to have you visit. We so glad you enjoyed your holiday. We hope you might return in the future. Property Owner
-
"We had a lovely stay, perfect location for us and our two dogs."
Great access to the beach. Secure enclosed garden for us and dogs. Cosy living room with open fire, great for evenings after a long walk on the beach. Would happily stay again and recommend.
-
"Greengates is a lovely cottage idealy placed to enjoy all the facilities that Watchet has to offer."
The cottage it's self was immaculately clean with a welcoming feel to it. We all had a fantastic time including George the dog who really enjoyed the enclosed garden and the fact that the beach was literally a stones throw away.
-
"We had a lovely comfortable stay at Greengates."
The visitor information was excellent. Great communication with Tim, the owner, who lived locally.
-
"A spacious cottage in an excellent location."
Facilities excellent, fully equipped kitchen and beautiful bathroom. Beds very comfy. Fully enclosed garden and very dog friendly. Amazing views. The owner has really thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
-
"What a lovely cottage."
We had a great stay and got the weather. Off road parking is always a good thing. Thanks
-
"A very comfortable, well-equipped house with lovely decor."
Sea view from master bedroom. Small enclosed garden was great for the dog, and the rocky beach was just across the road. Two minute walk into Watchet Centre with the harbour, cafes, shops, etc. Only space for one small car at the property but additional cars can be parked on the road or in the nearby public car parks (£25 for a week).
-
"We love this cottage booked again for next year"
Thank you so much for staying recently and booking with us again at Greengates for next year. It’s always such a pleasure to have you. Property Owner
-
"The property met all our needs and was well located near shops and pubs."
For some people parking the car into the small drive in front of the garage could be a problem though I found it ok. Finding free roadside parking was a problem for a second or third car and all day parking for 6 days would add £30 to the cost.
-
"Greengates is a lovely house in a great location, the mature garden is beautiful and not overlooked even though there are other houses around it."
The facilities are perfect and so handy to have a downstairs loo. Our only slight issue was the quality/comfort of the beds/mattresses and the sofas but this is very much personal choice.
Dear Guest I am delighted that you enjoyed your holiday at Greengates. We’re sorry you felt the quality and comfort of the beds weren’t to your own personal taste. This is not a complaint we have had before, as you say it’s a personal preference, but in light of your comments we will do a complete run through of all bedding and furniture to make sure everything is comfortable. Kind regards Tim and Lisa Property Owner

"Great break in a lovely location!"
-
"For February/March the cottage was warm and comfortable and included all the facilities needed for a great holiday."
Right next to the sea as the guide suggests and everything Watchet itself has to offer, right on the doorstep. A great base for all kinds of activities.
Thanks so much for your lovely feedback and we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay at Greengates. We hope you might return again in the future. Kind regards Tim and Lisa Property Owner

"The house is spacious, very clean, warm and cosy."
The communication regarding the key lock, arrival times and damage to garden fencing due to Storm Eunice was excellent. The parking is very tricky as the drive is short and hard to manoeuvre into. We opted to pay for public parking just down the road instead. The boiler and water pressure pump are ridiculously noisy even at night. Overall a lovely house, well equipped and great to be so close to the sea!
Thank you for staying with us and for your kind feedback. The on site parking easily fits a 4 x 4 or estate car but there’s pay and display car park only a minutes walk if needed. As you say it’s very close to all the local amenities and the sea which is a great bonus. Boiler is new and regularly serviced but was on wrong settings. I just had our plumber check it after your comment. All sorted. Thanks again for staying with us at Greengates. Property Owner
-
"Scrupeously (not sure of the spelling) clean and well equiped."
Smashing large gas cooker, comfy bed,and good multiple bathroom facilities. Off street parking and enclosed lawnned garden. Delightful harbour and sea view. Local shops within easy walking distance. What more would you want?
Such a lovely and glowing review. We’re always striving to make the cottage comfortable, welcoming and beautifully clean. Our housekeeper who lives opposite does a wonderful job. The parking and enclosed garden directly opposite the sea is a real bonus in this area. Great for family groups and those with pets. Property Owner

"The house was very well equipped, we cooked a full Sunday roast with no issues."
The bedrooms were really comfy and both showers impressive. The boiler was very noisy in the double bedroom but I'm a light sleeper. The location in Watchet was perfect, 2 min walk to the beach or shops and pubs. The only issue was the parking, there was no free parking anywhere for our second car and only 1 free space in the pay and display but it being new year probably didn't help. Would definitely recommend
-
"The house was beautifully decorated and cleaned, the Xmas decorations were lovely."
Great selection of games/dvd’s etc. Cosy and warm. Could possibly have done with a small welcome pack as have had in other properties and the pillows whilst plenty weren’t great but not a deal breaker. Have booked it again so that says it all! Thank you
Thanks so much for staying at Greengates. Really glad you enjoyed your time with us and have booked for next year. We will look at improving the couple of things you mentioned for your next stay. Wishing you a lovely Christmas and New Years. Tim and Lisa Property Owner

"We had a fantastic experience as a result of the most important aspects of a holiday all coming together perfectly; excellent accommodation, great company and a location that made us feel welcomed and was very friendly."
Well done to the owners of Greengates, as the cottage itself is beautifully presented, very comfortable and superbly equipped. We would highly recommend it for both its location within the village and its facilities.
Thanks so much for staying at Greengates. We’re so glad you enjoyed the cottage, its location and found Watchet’s friendly atmosphere. We hope you return in the future. Property Owner
-
"Well equipped, clean and very cosy cottage well positioned in town, walking distance to all amenities."
The limited off road parking may be an issue for some but it wasn't for us. We would happily return.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay at Greengates. We hope you return in the future. Property Owner
-
"Lovely spacious cottage , location perfect, lovely garden, already booked again."
Thanks so much for your kind comments. We hope you have another lovely holiday when you return next year. Property Owner
-
"Beautiful cottage in an ideal position for us."
Dog and children thoroughly enjoyed the pebbly beach opposite as well as the fully enclosed garden. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was fully and thoughtfully equipped. Compliments to whoever cleaned the cottage for us as it was immaculate. Well worth waiting for as this stay had been postponed from Easter 2020 due to Covid restrictions.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. We do strive to provide a very clean, comfortable and relaxing place to stay. So glad you felt it exceeded your expectations. As you say it’s very good with the enclosed garden for kids and dogs. Wishing you all the best. Property Owner
-
"We loved the house and especially because the weather was so good we were able to use the garden a lot and what made it extra special was that the garden is fully enclosed and safe for our 2 dogs."
It was wonderful to walk down the slip-way to the beach opposite on an evening and to watch the sun set over the water - very special. We loved Dunster Beach and we went to the Blue Anchor beach a lot for walkies which is only a 5 minute drive away. We would definitely like to return.
Thanks for your comments. So glad Greengates exceeded your expectations. We really hope you will return for another visit soon. Wishing you all the best. Property Owner
-
"Fantastic cottage."
Watchet is such a lovely friendly place close to lots of things to do. Greengates is well equipped, the rooms are generous in size and the owners have thought of everything. It has a lovely garden to relax in and the garden is 100% secure for your dogs.....Teddy loved mooching around and we could relax knowing he was safe. Dont miss the Wednesday Market, also held on Sunday once a month, its a must. The pubs are mostly dog friendly. Pebbles doesn't serve food but you can take chips or a take away in and they supply a plate etc.....bonus!! Another added bonus of the beach across the road. We had a fantastic week and hope to revisit soon. Thank you to the owners for providing such a lovely holiday cottage. Christine Brian and Teddy the Shih Tzu xx

"The accommodation was perfect, spacious yet warm and cosy with very comfortable beds."
Had everything provided that you would need for self catering accommodation. Lovely well kept private garden with barbecue for use by guests and outdoor seating. Secure so that pets were safe. Close proximity to the village yet still quiet. Can't fault it and would recommend to friends and family. The fact that its booked up all the time speaks for itself.
-
"Fabulous cottage, very spacious, very clean, great location."
Literally everything on your doorstep. Lovely pubs and plenty of takeaways. Shame the steam railway wasn’t open (Covid) but still found plenty to do. The only thing we didn’t research was the mud on the beach! Brilliant rock pools but not so good for our Labrador, well she absolutely loved it but wasn’t much fun for us cleaning her when we got back. Luckily there is an outside hosepipe.. If I’m really being picky a tumble dryer would have been good but we did manage ok with the airer. Would we return? Yes definitely
-
"Lovely cottage with the icing on the cake which was the entrance to the beach right opposite."
-
"Wonderful location in such a lovely friendly English fishing village."
After Lockdown we made a family bubble is safety enjoying the scenery and valuable family time together. The West Pool was our favourite destination every evening for our two week stay.
-
"Well positioned, dog friendly cottage."
Clean and very warm and cosy for our February break in a lot of gales and rain. Watchet is a harbour rather than beach town but found people there extremely friendly and welcoming. Reasonable selection of shops, cafes and pubs and only 20 minutes from Minehead with beaches and Burkin’s for children.
-
"Great Location!"
and a lovely home from home
-
"Lovely place but disappointed by the over grown garden ."
Also ther s a small drom from lounge into kitchen not clearly mayed and a disdabled person may fall. Other wise a good place.
-
"Lovely cottage with lovely garden, perfect position with lovely views out to sea at the front,at the rear of the property you have views over Watchet and the surrounding countryside."
Ideal base for touring the area, lovely views of Watchet and the harbour from Splash Point short strole away. The kids loved the steam railway on the doorstep with the trips along the coast to Minehead. All in all a perfect holiday for families with pets, with Watchet being an extremely dog friendly place.
-
"Green Gates Cottage is exceptional."
All the comforts you could require. Spotlessly clean, and very well equipped. Watchet village is really friendly and welcoming, with good variety of pubs / eating places / shops, and excellent links to surrounding area.
-
"The 0nly thing foiund trouble withwere the steps to the gardenwhich were to steep for older preople."
Iam 87 yeatrs oldand used yhe sofabed which was very comfortable.brilliant stay..
-
"Fantastic cottage for a family break."
It was very well equipped and comfortable. The garden was very safe for children and dogs. The owner Mr Benson was very helpful before we went. Parking is limited but this was not a problem to us. The large family car fitted in the drive and the local car park was safe and very close. It was not expensive for a weekly rate of £25 for convenience and peace of mind. The location of the cottage is superb, directly opposite the rocky beach. We even had the best February weather for years which made this perfect. However, had it been cold the heating was efficient and generous. Thanks once again for another superb cottage. We hope to revisit Watchet sometime as we still have lots on our to-do list.
-
"It was our 2nd visit to Greengates, we went this time last year."
It is close to 6 eating and drinking places. Watchet is on a Heritage Railway line and in summer months regular steam trains run. Greengates has everything for a family holiday or adult holiday. It's clean, comfortable beds and lounge furnishings and a well appointed kitchen. Might go again next year.
-
"The cottage was comfortable and spacious, the kitchen had everything you would need and more."
There was hand soap in all the toilets and bathroom's which was a nice touch. The garden was was nice and private and well enclosed which is good when you have a dog with you. Watchet it self is beautiful with a pretty harbour and plenty of cafe's and pubs and takeaways. The walking in Exmoor was brilliant leading to lovely cafe's and unspoilt villages. Would definitely stay in this cottage again.

"Best equipped cottage ever"
-
"The cottage was lovely especially found at such short notice due to snow the previous week."
In a perfect position for all local amenities.
-
"The owner contacted me in advance and provided really helpful information which I used to plan our short break."
The cottage was lovely even nicer than we anticipated and it was so warm and cozy during a very cold spell. It was easy to walk down into Watchet and the locals were very friendly. Great short break
