  • "A quiet, cosy, and well-furnished retreat, which acted as a convenient base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding coastal areas, and, Quantock Hills."

The road leading to the property was a bit steep to drive up. As it is a no-through road, very few vehicles passed by the house, we saw more dog-walkers or joggers if anything. Which also meant it was extremely quiet there, both day and night. We liked that there was secure parking guaranteed due to a gravel courtyard directly outside the house. The house was as in the photos, yet the living room area with a soft sofa was pleasantly updated with two comfortable white armchairs, instead of the IKEA chair, and a wood and glass coffee table. A comfortable modern house with its small cottage garden, it was certainly large enough to accommodate our family of three. The underfloor heating made the whole of the downstairs feel cosy and toasty. Beds were good, although the larger room with one double bed was, to us, a more supportive mattress, than those in the other bedroom. Whilst we did encounter one issue, we flagged it quickly and it was promptly assessed and dealt with by owner, Phyllis, of next door. She was available, very friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with. We appreciated the thoughtful and tasty welcome pack of homemade scones and jam, and, clotted cream. From the house, we had short walks to Watchet harbour, hunted for fossils at local beaches, boarded at Watchet for magical Steam Railway journeys, and enjoyed days out at Dunster beach and Castle, Minehead, and other area attractions. It was a nice house, and, we had a relaxing stay.

  • "Lovely cottage, very clean, cosy and warm in a very quiet location with nice welcome pack that was appreciated."

All the facilities required to make it a home from home stay with plenty of places to visit nearby and good dog walks on your doorstep. We had a brilliant stay and apart from a rather steep walk back from town for oldies cannot recommend it enough.

  • "The property itself was fabulous, the hostess Phylis was very welcoming, providing a lovely starter pack of milk, butter, cream, homemade jam and scones."

Cleanliness was spot on. Our only disappointment were the mattresses, in one of the bedrooms there was a single and double bed. They were very lumpy and you could actually feel the springs on the double one. The other bedroom with just a double bed was ok. The property is situated at the top of a steep hill, which would perhaps limit some people from walking to and from the town. I think this should be mentioned in the description.

  • "A lovely, clean and well kept property that was the perfect base for exploring Watchet and the surrounding area."

The homemade scones, jam and cream on arrival were the perfect welcome after a summer Saturday on the M5. Some great dog walks on the doorstep, avoiding the roads. It was Summertime week in town while we were there so there was a lot going on, with craft and market stalls every day, live music, and outdoor cinema on the Quay on one evening. We enjoyed walking by the harbour at night and being able to take our fish and chips into the local bars, and enjoying the live music and local ciders. A very relaxing week.

The premises is lovely and light with all the comforts of home and fantastic views. A lovely thoughtful treat on arrival of fresh homemade scones, jam and cream. Perfectly placed for walks with the dog in the countryside in one direction and a five minute walk into the picturesque harbour in town of Watchet and the fantastic Pebbles Tavern. It’s only a short drive to Exmoor to the West and the Quantock Hills to the East and all they have to offer. Definitely coming back.

The cottage is a great base to enjoy the area, We did not use the car all week as there is enough within walking distance to have kept us occupied all week, found many walks with our dog, the steam train station a short walk away and also the lovely harbour. For anyone that enjoys a drink there is a cider and ale bar that will let you buy fish and chips from the chippy next door and eat it whilst drinking one of there many ciders in the bar. • "Such a lovely cottage the owners made out of this building."

Two spacious bedrooms upstairs with large windows and lots of light - even sea view from the master. Ample storage in the chests of drawers and wardrobe to store the clothes. There is also an additional wardrobe on the top of the stairs in the eves. Kitchen has everything you need with microwave, toaster, cafetiere and even dog bowls. Instant coffee, sugar and tea bags were provided and the cream tea on arrival (scones, butter, clotted cream, home made plum jam and milk) were such a lovely gesture! The whole ground floor is tiled with underfloor heating which is great after the muddy walks we had given we arrived a day after storm Eunice hit and we encountered the aftermath with lots of rain on Sunday. There are walks right behind the house leading to fields for quick dog walks nearby. Town centre and the fossil beach are 5-15 minutes walk away (depending where you go) and two co-op and a Spar are in easy walking distance. WiFi does work if you use the booster and access through the TPLink network, we had good download speed at 9MB so no issue for browsing to check nearby attraction opening times etc. The bathroom is very big with walk in shower. It would be lovely to have some shelves in the little alcove in there. Towels were provided and warmed by the towel heater. The patio/garden area is half stone tiles half pebbles and great to quickly let the dog out in the morning, it is fenced too. Unfortunately, our dog found the one space in the corner where the wall has no additional high fence and he jumped in the road a few times which is literally behind this wall, the wall is not low though, he is fairly big it seems :-). The owners said they are looking into adding fence there too though. A dog bed and biscuits were also provided. The owners and their little dog are lovely and very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend this cottage!
