  • "The bungalow had lovely grass, trees & shrubs around it."

    Not as private as indicated in photos. WiFi was good. The place was damp and the musty smell was obvious. The door was very difficult to open and close, damp again? We had to request towels and toilet paper.

  • "The cottage was in a very peaceful location and was comfortable and well equipped."

    The downside of the cottage for us was that it needed a deep clean as it smelt musty on entering the cottage. The bed framework on the king size bed could do with a good clean. The other problem for us being a mature couple was the lack of direct access from the car to the cottage for unloading and loading the car.

    Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you found our property to be peaceful, comfortable, and well equipped. On immediate inspection, nowhere in The Blue House was identified as being dirty, usually after cleaning, there could be a faint odour of polish. The bed framework mentioned, is a carved rococco style bed, which is painted white with shabby chic highlights, quite the up-market finish, and not at all dusty. As you parked outside of Jasmine you were closer than the normal parking area, which had no steps or uneven surfaces. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was perfect for our relaxing week's stay in Devon."

    It is comfortable, well-equipped and clean, and the surrounding grounds are very peaceful. It was a surprise to see deer wandering around the grounds too. It was good to meet Diane on arrival too. Whilst it is a rural location it is only a few minutes away from the main road so the towns and beaches of Dawlish and Teignmouth are just a short drive away, and the rest of the Torbay coast is easily reachable.

  • "Such a lovely little property."

    A benefit of the no-pets policy meant that a) I didn't have to take antihistamines and b) wildlife in the local forest areas was more diverse. The sounds of the birds in the trees made the stay really special. Owner always available and very helpful.

Five individual cottages set within 18 acres of private woodland and gardens close to the beautiful hamlet of Mamhead in an unspoilt corner of South Devon and amidst rolling countryside and stunning woodland areas. Tucked below the beautiful Haldon Forest; a haven for walkers, cyclists and wildlife the cottages at Magnolia Gardens offer wonderful rural retreats yet are easily accessible form the A380 which connects Exeter and Torquay. Ideally suited to groups of friends or families, this accommodation caters to a variety of group needs, there's no better choice for your escape to Devon. All of the cottages offer a homely and traditional interior, with woodburning stoves in three of the cottage offering an added warmth in the winter months, while their private gardens offer the perfect spot for alfresco dining and social gatherings in the summer, with all of 18 acres of beautiful grounds to explore too! DAWLISH

Teignmouth 3 miles; Exeter 13.4 miles; Exmouth 19.7 miles

A charming seaside town set on the southern coast. The town of Dawlish offers all of the facilities for day-to-day living including a pleasant variety of shops, restaurants and cafés and a small cinema. Dawlish is famous for its Black Swans that live with other wildfowl on the Dawlish Water that runs through the central town park down to the sea, at night in the summer it is beautifully lit by strings of coloured lights. Dawlish comes with a wonderful, sandy beach with a crazy golf course also nearby, it is the perfect place for a family holiday. Up the coast is Dawlish Warren that can be reached by car or train or, for those energetic types, a walk along the sea wall. Further afield, Dawlish mainline station offers access to Exeter, Exmouth, Torquay, Paignton or even Plymouth, trains are plentiful.
