  • "The road is the worst and no one told us about that."

Large pot hole filled with water so no idea how deep they were and we did scrap the bottom of our car on more than one occasion. Also a smell of damp in the bedrooms.

  • "We had a lovely time at the holiday home."

Based on a quiet site which we found to be a good base for alot of places we wanted to visit. The beds were very comfy and the blinds/curtains were great at keeping the light out. It was handy having night lights in the property for the kids to have on as I never think to pack these. The kitchen offered everything that we needed for the holiday in terms of utensils/plates/cups/glasses/pots/oven proof dishes etc far better than some we have been to in the past. I have mobility issues and use crutches, there is a slight slope from where you would park the car then a concrete step which was manageable for me. It was handy having the grab rail in the shower. The downside we found to the property was the cleanliness of the bathroom and the shower function (was either too hot or too cold) but this would not deter us from visiting again.

Thank you for the very positive comments you made about Broom Cottage. I’m sorry the bathroom cleanliness was not as it should be and I will mention it to my cleaner. Property Owner

  • "This was the 2nd."

stay with my Aunt. We love Broom Cottage which has a welcoming vibe. However, we were disappointed slightly this time by the standard of cleanliness. Little things like an old Tea Bag in the bottom of the Kitchen Bin, stains on the Tea Tray (Spoon Rest), Breadcrumbs on the Fridge Handle & in Bread-bin, a sweet was on the Bedroom (King/Double) Carpet, dead Moths were on Walls/Coving and a dirty cleaning Cloth was left (unwashed) in the Washing Machine. Just more attention to details was needed this time. The Shower Pull Cord Ceiling Holder was loose. What is a major issue though (and has nothing personally to do with the Owners) is the narrow road on the Site itself is absolutely full of Potholes to the extent we would not visit again if it got any worse as we would be concerned if I damaged my Car.

Kitchen and bathroom were fully equipped. Heating was required due to weather conditions but was easily managed and the property heated quickly. Location was quiet and peaceful but within easy travelling distance of resorts and attractions. Could even see the sea from the patio. Will definitely consider a return visit in the future.

  • "Lovely cottage in a very rural setting."

Cottage very comfortable, but own transport is essential. Going out at night on foot is not advised, as there is nowhere to walk to and no pavements. This site is ideal for couples with young children, or older people who do not venture out at night anyway. The Donkey Sanctuary nearby, is a fascinating place to visit and there are many interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. I would not recommend arriving at night , as there is no lighting whatsoever. The owners left us a bottle of wine and a box of fudge, which was a lovely gesture, and the cottage had everything required for our stay.

  • "The cottage is set in a lovely quiet holiday village, with lovely noises from the nearby donkey sanctuary heard on occasion."

It was nice to see the sea. We picked the cottage as it came with a garden, but the fence was unable to contain our 16 month old, so we didn't feel safe letting her out whilst we sat in the cottage to look on. The facilities were good in terms of appliances in the cottage. Shame there are no shops on site. The main bedroom was dusty and their was an old deodorant can on the floor when we arrived. The bathroom extractor fan really needs a clean, it is full of dirt and debris. The main concern was the disposable lighter, left on the TV stand, that our 16 month old found as we arrived and were unpacking. The cottage is in a good location and we were able to explore many parts of Devon during our stay.

It was lovely sitting outside surrounded by the peaceful park and a little peak of the sea. Nice seeing the donkeys as we passed each day. Great location for exploring the area. Cottage had all the personal touches with plenty of room. A nice touch leaving wine and fudge for our arrival. Would definitely recommend. X

The beds are very comfortable. The lane up to the site is very narrow but this did not cause us any problems. it means people go slower and are looking out for people which I think make it safer. We felt the let down was the grassed area out side the cottage. It was not mown very well or edged. There was a thistle growing on the edge of the patio. It would have been nice to have a couple of nice chairs and a small table on the patio as well as the wooden bench's, On a positive the patio did catch the sun nicely all day. We enjoyed our stay

The welcoming gifts were really appreciated and is reflective of the efforts the cottage owners make to ensure people have a positive experience whilst staying there. Unfortunately the road surface on the site is extremely poor in places and whilst it shouldn't spoil your holiday it simply isn't acceptable and needs addressing by the 'Stoneleigh Holiday Village' site owners.

  • "Great place!"

Didn't realise how close to the beach it was! Less than a mile to the sea if you walked down the cliff path, and Sidmouth beach (near Jacob's ladder) wasn't crowded with close parking and facilities. Hair dryers were also in the bedrooms, which I don't think was listed. Never had stayed in such a lovely place before with the family. Very quiet. Really great value when compared to other places. The numbering system in the 'village' was confusing, but oh well. Have booked again! Lovely to be greeted with a bottle of wine and card. The owners were also helpful when I messaged them about a couple of things. Also visited the National Trust Places A la Rounde and Killerton. Just a fab place to recharge my batteries ... and of course, the lovely weather really helped. Didn't want to come home!

The walls between this cottage and the attached neighbours are paper thin. If your neighbours are quiet or the cottage unoccupied then there is no problem, otherwise conversations can be heard quite clearly through the wall.

The owners had put a great deal of thought into their guests needs and comfort; fixtures, fittings and accessories were all very good quality and the property was extremely warm, comfortable and well maintained. The only negative point is the standard of the road through the holiday village to individual properties. The road is very heavily pitted with large pot holes which are impossible to avoid and for this reason alone, I would not return to the site.
