"We have just spent a week here with 2 dogs and had a lovely break - the Barn has everything you need to make it feel like home and not just a holiday let - the views are stunning and there’s a lovely dog friendly local pub the Bradworthy Inn within walking distance or 3 mins in the car."
The Barn is perfectly situated for exploring Devon and Cornwall - the games room is a bonus especially when raining - nice welcome hamper with treats for us and the dogs which was a nice touch - would highly recommend staying here if you want peace and quiet - the stars in the night sky are beautiful and saw a couple of shooting stars and had the pleasure of an owl visiting us the first morning which was amazing to see and photograph - have stayed in various places in Devon over the years and for us it was just perfect
Thank you for your lovely feedback. The owl has been very busy recently, so glad you got to see it. Hopefully welcome you back to visit again soon. Property Owner

"Hidden gem, secluded in the beautiful countryside, fabulous views, peace and quiet, comfortable and clean accommodation, all mod cons."

"The presentation of the property is not as advertised."
Our holiday was due to end on Saturday 7th September but we vacated the property on Monday 2nd September. On arrival we were greeted to a host of black flies throughout the property. The lawned area at the back of the property was ankle deep in grass with fecaes left from a previous occupant. Grass was growing through the paved areas. All the flower beds and plant pots were dead. A liquid was seeping through the path. The back field was impassable and overgrown to chest high. The brochure said to enjoy the 16acres belonging to the property but this was impossible. There was an overall feeling of neglect.
We're obviously really disappointed and sorry to hear of this experience - I arrived on the Mon 2nd (the day you left) to cut the grass in the rain... It has been an unbearably wet summer for trying to maintain the gardens and thought we were winning the battle. My three previous visits prior to your arrival were all rain affected - just really sorry to hear it impacted your enjoyment of Waterland to this extent. Property Owner

"We had a lovely stay at Waterloo Old Barn."
The Barn was well equipped, comfortable and plenty of room for 6 adults. The views to the rear of the Barn are beautiful, particularly loved the two adult swings in the garden. A great place for a family holiday, would definitely stay again.

"The property was gorgeous and exactly as described and pictured."
It’s located in a quiet and serene countryside setting, half an hour drive away from the beach. The garden was perfect for our dog and the games room provided endless entertainment for the whole family. We also had a chance to meet the owner who was lovely and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this barn for anyone planning a holiday.

"We had a lovely stay at Waterland Old Barn."
The owner was friendly and very helpful. Such a peaceful location. Very close to the Devon/Cornwall border.

"What a wonderful Barn, it’s all very well decorated and very comfortable."
Loved the ceiling lights which look like stars, what a lovely tough. The crockery, utensils and pans etc were all top end products. The garden patio and furniture including the swings were excellent, we had fun on the swings. When we had a day of rain, we played pool and darts in the The Play Room it was so much fun. The views from the Barn were amazing. The information in the property where to eat etc was super and very helpful. We had the best time. We have an American car with lowered suspension, so some of the neighbouring roads were challenging and scrapped the bottom of our car, but if you have a normal vehicle with normal suspension, then your car would be absolutely fine. Loved loved loved it. Xxx

"Such a beautiful property."
Still looks exactly as the photos describe, immaculately clean. We arrived to a generous welcome hamper, milk in the fridge and some beautiful flowers which was such a lovely touch. Not listed on the property facilities but there is also a washing machine (might be worth updating the listing as could put people off). Surrounding location is very pretty and all you can hear as the sun comes up is the birds. The kids loved the games room and my youngest enjoyed the abundance of games and puzzles. Huge collection of DVDs if the weather isn’t on your side. The recommendations in the welcome book are well worth a visit. We went to Westward Ho! Sandymouth, Clovelly, Bude - all these beaches offer something different and magical. Make sure you check tide times! The vet in the village (just 4 mins away) is very helpful, our youngest pup cut her paws due to scrambling over rocks (bloody spaniels) so it was really handy to just call up and pop down and get them checked. The local spa has essentials and the staff are lovely. We had a very minor blip during our stay where on our last full day the boiler lost pressure so we were without hot water and heating for the day but the log burning fire solved the heating issue and I spoke to Giles who resolved the hot water by late afternoon and all was well. It’s a lovely cottage, beautiful location, with lovely responsive hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"This barn should definitely have a 5 star rating, we stayed 25th-29th April ..."
This barn should definitely have a 5 star rating, we stayed 25th-29th April 2024, very clean and cosy, everything you needed in the kitchen and more, some lovely little extras (milk, teabags and biscuits), the dogs loved it and so lovely to have a secure garden we could let them out in, the boys (men) had hours of fun in the games room, a really lovely break had by all even if it was typical English weather
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased you had a wonderful time! Such a shame about the weather, we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

"When we arrived we noticed that the property wasn’t very clean."
There is mould in the down stairs bedroom, cobwebs, the skirting boards were dirty and had not been cleaned. On the back of the bedroom doors it says fire door keep closed and they don’t close shut. I opened the dishwasher and the smell that came from there was so bad i was nearly sick. The crockery wasn’t very clean where it must of been put through the dishwasher it had left it all feeling all dirty like specks on. So we had to wash things up before we used them. When we arrived home i did complain about the above and was told I should of complained when i was there for the owner to rectify the problems. I wasn’t happy with the reply i got as we payed for the Holiday to get away and relax i we didn’t want people coming in to rectify what should of been done before we arrived. I did take photos to backup my evidence but Sykescottages said they were not going to offer any compensation as i should of complained when i was there. I will never go through sykescottages.co.uk again as they expected me to complain when i was there for it to be rectified when it should if been done before our arrival. There was more that I complained about but it seems that it’s all my fault as I didn’t report it when i was there.

It had lovely views of the countryside and was a nice place to stay for a relaxing and peaceful break. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay.
