"We were very late booking this holiday but I had been looking at the web site to identify suitable properties."
I had discounted this one because it wasn't rural or near the beach. There was not much left as I booked two days before going. It was perfect as we found Bridport to be a super place with lovely shops and cafes etc. Great bus links so we caught the bus towards Lyme Regis and had a beautiful walk back Perfect for walking and thank you there was an OS map in the house. I hate navigating from my phone. Much prefer a proper map for visual detail and representation. Super location. We certainly experienced Thomas Hardy country. We'd really like to go back some day. It ticked my main box which is excellent cleanliness, well equipped and comfortable without being cluttered.

About the location
BRIDPORT
Lyme Regis 10 miles; West Bay 2 miles.
The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles. A superb base for exploring wonderful West Dorset.
