Lovely position, looking over the sea, lovely & warm on our arrival, even a welcome gift of milk, eggs & biscuits, highly recomended

"Lovely position, clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage."
Friendly, helpful owners. It's our second visit and we plan to return.

"Excellent property."
Good location. Exactly as described. Very comfortable, particularly the beds. Walking in to Burton Bradstock requires a walk down the field opposite as there is no footpath immediately outside the property. Hosts Jenny and Ernie on hand but unobtrusive. Super views of sea and coast from the property. A bigger fridge would be good by not sure kitchen has the space for it. Great location for exploring further. excellent bus service to e.g. Lyme Regis or Weymouth. Would certainly use again.

"A warm welcome from Ernie and Jenny."
Very comfortable and clean, and lovely view down to see, with beautiful sunsets as well ! Thank you for the delicious eggs and biscuits! A slight comment about the steps - no problem for a 76 year old, but our 80 year old guest with mobility problems found the slope difficult That excepted, the annexe had everything that we needed and Ernie and Jenny are very helpful hosts.

"The Doves was a beautiful place to spend our holiday and I must say that the listing on the site does not do the actual property justice."
The view from the cottage is beautiful and it was spotlessly clean throughout, with comfortable beds. Yes the facilities are a little basic, the kitchen is small but practical and has everything you could need. The owners were on hand if needed and were very welcoming, but left us to get on with our visit, with reassurance they were around if needed. There are plenty of shops nearby in Bridport and the location of the cottage was just perfect for venturing East or West up the coast to local beaches etc. The Wi-Fi wasn’t great in the downstairs bedroom but that didn’t cause any big issues. The upstairs bedroom was light and airy and very comfortable. The property is on a busy coast road so there is inevitably noise, but this quietened down during the evening and was no problem for sleeping. The gardens were immaculately looked after and beautiful to look at. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and thank you for a wonderful break!

"We have just had a brilliant 3 week holiday in this superb cottage."
It was everything we could have wished for. It is spacious, clean and well equipped with magnificent panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast. Close to many interesting places to visit. The owners are such lovely people and made us feel welcomed. We certainly hope to return.

"Lovely views in good position for visiting places around."
Very comfortable equipped with everything you need. Very nice owners, on hand but not obtrusive.Very restful holiday.

"Upon arrival the downstairs toilet had been used, by presumably the cleaner, and it was left in a dirty state."
The window had been left open and there was a large puddle of water on the floor. There was no mop in the property. This was not a good start. Also there was no blind in the downstairs toilet and all the doors were glass doors, so the light shone through, which is no good in a bedroom. Most of the crockery was dirty, the pans and frying pans, so I had to wash them before I could use them. The fridge is far too small for a self catering holiday. My parents' fridge in their touring caravan is bigger. The place is in a good location and has gorgeous views, but I don't think it's worth the money and the times to check in and out make it even less value for money. You can't check in until 5pm and have to be out by 10am, so in essence you lose a day. You are literally paying for a night's stay.
-
"The cottage was great, only criticism is the late check in of 5pm on the day of arrival- you are paying for this day yet you can’t check in until early evening."

"Just a lovely cottage in an excellent location"

"Excellent location for sea."
10 min walk to beach. Friendly and non-intrusive landlords. Peaceful and private. The house layout though, not great. Ensuite bathrooms only are a problem for whomever goes to bed last. Which bathroim are you to use without waking somebody up?! Never a good idea. Kitchen is absolutely tiny... 2 people can't function in there at same time. Sitting in the lounge is rather uncomfortable. Open plan master bedroom upstairs, mezzanine floor, directly from lounge, no door means any lounge sounds are in the bedroom. So if you want to sleep in, forget about it. The noisy road is 15m from the door. It's on the road. We loved our holiday but spent little time in cottage.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property, which precisely suited our requirements."
It was spotlessly clean. Everything was as described and the feel of the property was even better. The views of the coast and countryside were breathtaking. The walk to beach was very pleasant. Thanks to the owners for the warm welcome, milk and biscuits etc. We had no complaints to make at all.

"The location of the Doves was perfect for touring around this area of Dorset, it was clean and well equipped and the view over the rolling hills and down to the sea was lovely, we did find the noise from the road during the day especially the motorbikes was loud when sitting outside, however it was quiet at night, but this would be the reason we would not return again."
-
"We had a wonderful week at the Doves, a lovely little (actually very spacious) annex with the most amazing views and a very pretty garden, which my boys loved."
The owners were very friendly and available if you needed them but not intrusive, they let my boys put up the football goal so they could play out in the garden. If I had one minor suggestion it would be the fridge could be a bit bigger but we managed fine and otherwise its a well equipped comfortable annex.

"Very comfortable, lovely views, very nice, helpful owners."
ideal situation for places around.Altogether a lovely relaxing stay.
-
"It was great being so close to the sea - being able to see it from the windows and walk to it so easily was brilliant."
-
"Y biggest problem was with the wi-fi, which I rely on for news and information of surrounding area, etc."
The wi-fi, when working, had a download speed of 0.2mbs. This despite there being a booster in the dining area. When it did work, my antivirus software told me that it was not secure. My other bugbear was the fridge/freezer. Whoever decided to put a counter-top fridge/freezer on the floor? Not only was it tiny, but for two 72 years olds and an 82 year old it was almost impossible to get down to find anything. We felt that the mezzanine floor was not particularly private. And the toaster 'popped' after approximately 10 seconds, despite being on the longest setting.
-
"May be worth mentioning that there is a considerable amount of traffic noise as located on coast road especially at weekend."
Also it does state that it is attached to owners property but wasn't expecting double glass doors....couldn't see through but could certainly hear them quite clearly. Did take a bit of getting used to. We did love the view though and the owners were very nice and we were blessed with very good weather

"The Doves was an excellent location for our holiday, the views were wonderful."
The cottage was cosy and warm, and ideal for 4 people. The only concern was lack of hot water in the the upper en-suite. However would stay again and recommend to friends.
-
"Friendly host without being too imposing (next door)."
Milk, cookies and teabags/coffee in the cottage on our arrival which was a nice touch. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda and taking in the sea view. Lovely location, we walked to the local beach across the field each night. Hive beach was great too with a fantastic cafe. Nice and close to Lyme Regis and Charmouth.
-
"We had a really enjoyable week here with our 8 year old son, despite mixed weather."
The views from the house are amazing and the coastal path walk in either direction is fabulous. We found the beds comfortable. The kitchen was a bit cramped for us as we like cooking a lot but all in all we had a great holiday.
-
"An enjoyable week in a beautiful part of Dorset."
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The cottage was very clean and met our expectation. Although it didn’t bother us I wouldn’t think it would be suitable for small children. I would also advise anyone wishing to eat in one of the very good pubs in the village to book an evening meal in advance.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at The Doves, it had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, especially loved the veranda where you can sit and take in the amazing views."
-
"Our stay at the Doves was mixed ,set in a nice location with excellent views."
This is my honest opinion of important issues. Very limited parking. No room for visitors,4 guests in one car !! OK for a small family.Needs to be made clear in the feature section of advert. Not suitable for elderly or Disabled access. Not an issue for myself & wife. No wine glasses. Beds are Doubles 4’6 and not comfortable. Separating the accommodation from the owners part of the building is a pair of French doors that have been blacked out. Noise you can hear the TV from owners Adjoining part of the building. Central Heating is controlled by the owners and was very mixed.Just an electric fire in the lounge. No extract fans in bathrooms. It is located in a beautiful part of Dorset with plenty of places to visit.
-
"Wonderful terrace where you could sit out and see the bay."
Lots of lovely places to visit close at hand. Great beaches and good walks. Friendly hosts made us feel welcome.
-
"Please check the cleaners are following covid 19 cleaning instructions."
No handwipes or gel in the property.
-
"Pros: very competitive pricing."
Great location for fit walkers. Some superb eateries and stunning views within a 15-30 min walk. Again- the views were gorgeous especially in the evening. One word- SUNSETS! Accommodation was very clean, fully functional and thoughtfully appointed (although we had to buy a knife for cooking, which we left behind.) Lovely views and the sounds of actual doves. Cons: a bit of road noise and a rather fast road to pull out onto. Ideally driving instructions would put the name of the main house rather than The Doves- however I recognised the house from the photos. Would recommend interior privacy drapes on the french doors separating the Doves from the main house. It was unsettling to not have control over that, especially right next to our bedroom. They would also provide more sound insulation. It wasn’t loud, but you could just hear the TV at night and that made it feel a little too close. The only other issue we had was that the double bed was just a tad too small and too soft, and to be honest we didn’t sleep well at all because of it. Admittedly we are used to a bigger bed. All in all though, this worked well for a family of four who did a fair amount of cooking and some laundry. It was very clean, very quaint, very “Dorset” with unique features and beautiful views. The owners seemed friendly yet gave us our space. I’d go again for a weekend in a heartbeat.

"Jenny and Ernie were friendly and helpful, the views from the patio and gardens were amazing, the sun was on the raised patio area from morning until sunset so we could eat out any time of the day."
The description did not mention the dishwasher which was an added benefit as we visited during the pandemic. The property was well placed for visiting all the beach resorts. We had our well behaved 4 year old Granddaughter with us and Jenny said is was perfectly Ok for her to play in the garden, in fact we were out most of the time so we only took a walk around the garden, she loved the Doves and all the birds in the aviary. I was rather concerned that she might disturb the owners when playing in doors, but when I spoke to Ernie about this he said jokingly that he made more noise. We had previously stayed in a property nearer the beach which avoided having to cross the busy main road to go for a walk, but the setting and facilities of the Doves made this the favourite.
-
"Perfect location even though the weather was quite bad on some days we had a fantastic time with lovely views on your door step."
The owners of The Doves are very friendly and welcoming too.
-
"Very relaxing, spacious and comfortable accommodation, with beautiful views of the sea and surrounding countryside."
-
"The Doves is in a great position for walking coastal paths and visiting resorts and beaches"
-
"Lovely cottage with fantastic views."
Jenny and Ernie were lovely hosts, checking in with us at the beginning of the stay, answering questions from our daughters about the guinea fowl and doves and checking at the end of the break that all was fine, apart from that they have us plenty of space and were always friendly and helpful when asked.
-
"Lovely walks around the area and view from the house of the sea is amazing"
-
"Apart from the rain and wind."
.. We found the area delightful with many things to see and do. Cottage well equipped and comfortable and hosts available when required. Thoroughly recommended. There was a small problem when we arrived and the house key bent, which then broke in the lock. A quick call to Dream Cottages sorted it out. Very efficient and thoughtful. Good service.

"We had a good week in Burton Bradstock, the weather was kind and the cottage is well situated with excellent views."
However, we do have to make some comments in regard to your listing and description (some in our opinion very important) Kitchen - it is rather tiny and dysfunctional with a large fridge freezer on the opposite wall to the sink leaving a space no more than 24 inches – not enough room for more than 1 person in the kitchen at a time. For 4 adults there really weren’t enough large saucepans and we don’t believe that 4 mugs and 3 cups and saucers and a teapot for 3 mugs is adequate, especially with the use of a dishwasher. We couldn’t find glasses that would suit an aperitive or morning fruit juice unless you count the 3 coke glasses Your description clearly states that the property is an annexe. This fails to mention that the owner’s property is separated by a pair of internal glazed doors. It doesn’t give one adequate privacy, and the fact that this is not mentioned is misleading at best. Your description states there is an upstairs bedroom which is in fact a mezzanine room with open access to the lounge area leaving no adequate privacy for the occupants, and your description is again misleading Finally, we read in a review somewhere that the owners were friendly and approachable. This was not our experience. We did not receive the courtesy of a call to see if everything was OK, and the 2 times we saw the lady of the house in the garden it was really just a brief ‘hello’. Not good enough in our opinion if you are renting your property and live in the adjoining accommodation. In the circumstance our belief is that the rental cost is not value for money.
