  • "We really enjoyed our stay at West Ridge - a really beautiful, characterful property which was very well equipped for a self-catering holiday."

As the weather was good we really enjoyed the immaculate garden and our daughter loved the well-stocked games cupboard. The house was perfectly placed for the beach and also for local bus routes (to Christchurch, Mudeford and Poole). Although we knew there was not an en suite bathroom we did notice there was one adjacent to the master bedroom and wondered why this was not in use. It would have been useful for our group of six in warm weather! But apart from this we were very happy with the property and would revisit. (Some very minor points - we weren't aware of the need for food recycling and so had to buy compostable bags; a bigger kitchen bin would be helpful, plus larger frying pan and wooden spoon).

  • "A very comfortable stay at West Ridge with the family."

Weather was spectacular. Did think a few bins around would have been useful and also a couple of wooden spoons. The house was amazing and the garden great as it was really sunny and hot and there were shady areas

  • "This is a good property with outstanding features."

The house is ideally located being just a short walk to Boscombe beach as well as an easy walk, or short drive, into both Boscombe and Bournemouth. There is good, easily accessible, off road parking. The rooms are spacious, with tasteful period furnishings and extremely comfortable beds. Each of the three bedrooms has good storage space, although the master bedroom would benefit from having bedside tables. There is just one bathroom available, however, this was not a problem for a party of five adults, particularly as there are wash-basins in two of the bedrooms. Having USB charging sockets on most of the power socket points is a real bonus. The quiet, well-maintained garden is outstanding to sit-in at any time of the day. All rooms were cleaned and maintained to a high standard. Whilst the kitchen is very well-equipped, this coupled with too many locked cupboards, resulted in there being very little free space to store food items. It's a property that we highly recommend and hope to return to in future.

  • "Beautiful property and garden, in an excellent location."

Only improvement we would suggest is a larger screen TV, which would enable subtitles to be read more easily by those with hearing difficulties. We had a really lovely week and felt sorry to leave at the end of our stay.

Some items such as oven gloves had been overlooked by the cleaners, but the owner kindly brought us the supplies we needed.

Hard to find fault but if it would help you ,too much in the way of cutlery and cups plates etc. The house has huge garden ,opposite a park, short walk from sea. Near railway station. Lots of parking . As i say difficult to fault . Brian.

  • "The house and garden were fantastic and it's position close to the beach and the cliff top pathway is ideal."

There's a lot to do and Bournemouth has so much to offer and is very well looked after and we had a great week. Our only slight disappointment was the lack of thought that seemed to have gone into providing for holidaymakers. In many similar properties you are provided with a booklet of information about how to operate equipment etc - using the cooker was far from straightforward, details of local shops, supermarkets, facilities, restaurants, takeaways, places to visit, what to do etc. Also, some of the basic things, like salt and pepper for example, weren't provided and it was odd having many of the most accessible cupboards in the kitchen locked. The bin in the kitchen was woefully inadequate for such a large property. Having lots of very nice ornaments on show does help to enhance the general ambience of the property but if you have young children it can be a source of anxiety. Some warning of all the locked rooms and cupboards would also have been polite we feel. Rather than a holiday home, it felt a bit like a private house that we were intruding upon. With a little bit more thought it could easily have been a 5 star rating.

  • "This was an exceptionally well located and well maintained property."

The accommodation was so generous and the gardens were beautiful to relax in. Whilst there is only one bathroom, this didn't matter as the toilet is separate and there is also one downstairs, and our bedroom had it's own sink. The shower was one of the best we have had, brilliant! Perfect stay, thank you.

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at West Ridge."

What an incredibly beautiful house and gardens, it was a real privilege to be in. The house has such a lovely energy, we really got the feeling that it has been loved and appreciated, which made it so easy to feel at home there, whilst appreciating the beauty and history all around you. There are so many toys available for children which was really appreciated, ours only ended up playing with a handful of them, but there are games for all ages which is great for rainy days. The bathroom upstairs is huge, super clean, modern and practical for kids, making bath time nicer than any holiday we've been on. The whole house was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable with good quality white sheets. West Ridge is a short walk from the beach east of Boscombe, which is absolutely stunning and much less crowded than Bournemouth beach, and there are ice creams, toilets and water which is perfect for long days on the beach. It is also an easy drive to Christchurch and Mudeford Quay, and really close to Southbourne. We had an absolutely brilliant week at West Ridge, with many wonderful memories to cherish. We will definitely try to stay here again if we return to Bournemouth. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

  • "Lovely property, beautiful gardens, great location, although it is more of a private home than a holiday home."

It would be beneficial for many of the ornaments, personal belongings to be removed as we were constantly telling our 2 young children ‘do not touch’. The kitchen would certainly benefit from being de-cluttered as there is virtually no room/cupboards to store food as these were full/locked. The addition of an inside lock/bolt to the access door would have been re-assuring. Shoe protectors were provided and again with young children this is not always easy to adhere to. The addition of a second bathroom/shower is really expected these days and with a property this size catering for more than one family it is almost the norm. We had a very enjoyable holiday, but there are certainly many improvements that could be made by simplifying and removing a lot of the unnecessary furnishings.

A problem with the heating but the owners were quick to respond and very helpful. This is my second visit here and I have no reason to think I wouldn't book this house again.

Thank you from all of us for sharing this beautiful space for us all to enjoy. Immediately as we walked in you could feel the love! And warm energy. Each space was carefully considered with detail and absolute comfort in mind. You exceeded our expectation on every level. The only down fall is that we had such a short stay and could’ve happily stayed longer Ps. So sorry about the broken mug!:-(

We had a lovely time there when we stayed for a few days this past week. The house was spacious and clean and had everything we needed and even more. The beds were comfortable with luxurious bedding. The kitchen was well equipped with top quality cups and plates. There was even a downstairs wc which was a welcomed surprise. There was so much to see and explore in the gardens and inside. We would love to stay in West Ridge again next time we're in Bournemouth.
