  • "The property itself is fine and the bed comfortable - but the bedrooms are in desperate need of thicker curtains or blackout blinds, due to the floodlight exteriors."

We love Lyme Regis. However, Lyme Bay Holidays have now been cobbled up by the Sykes Group, who are greedy in the extreme and difficult to deal with. (they are the only holiday company who refused guests. refunds during Covid). They do not answer the phone, and to get to speak to a human being, eventually, we had two 30 minute waits, and our request was not granted. (we knew the property was vacant the night before, and we were asking if we could arrive at 3.00 instead of 4 - the answer was 'NO'). Sykes are unnecessarily rigid in their 'rules' and won't budge under any circumstances. We were left a packet of biscuits, but no milk, which is unheard of these days (and we have been using self catering facilities for many many years!). We did see proper 'Holiday Hampers' being delivered to the other flats though?? Such a shame that Sykes is taking over most letting places these days, but are the worst company to deal with.

Key collection from Lyme Bay holidays is very easy and just next door. Great to have parking on site. Highly recommended.

  • "We have stayed at this flat several times."

It is an absolutely beautiful flat with a lovely view over the rooftops to the sea and Golden Cap. And quite rare in Lyme Regis to find a property with secure parking. Can you sense there is a "but"! That is, as I have included in previous reviews, the shower cubicle is the tiniest I have ever seen and using it is made more challenging because the shower head is at a fixed level and there is nowhere at all to put your soap or shampoo. The general cleanliness is ok but the flat could do with a deep clean, including the windows. It is looking generally a litle bit "tired", including the cooking utensils and the china had lots of chips. These comments are intended to be constructive as none of this will stop us coming again if we can, we still had a lovely time despite the weather! And Lyme Bay Holidays were efficient as they always have been.

  • "Excellent apartment, very comfortable and well equipped."

Fantastic location and the secure car park and parking space a real bonus for a property in Lyme. The addition of coasters for the side tables and placemats for the dining table would be good, as it was a shame to see the tables watermarked. The kitchen sink tap dripped and was quite noisy (sounded like air in the pipes) when the shower was in use. Thankfully the dripping and noise stopped when the shower was turned off though but it would be good if this can be looked at to avoid wasting water. Some previous reviews mentioned that the shower cubicle is small, but we didn’t think this at all. We were very lucky with the weather so enjoyed the balcony, a couple of fold up chairs for the balcony would have been nice to allow us to sit outside.

  • "We have had a lovely week."

The location is great, less than 10 minute walk down the hill, slightly longer going back up! The hill might not suit everyone but we all managed fine. The flat was lovely and clean and everything we needed as a family of four. The rooms are much bigger than they appear in the photos too. The main bedroom is plenty big enough for a travel cot too if you have a baby with you. The parking is on the same level as the flat so perfect for unloading and loading the car. We had a tesco delivery whilst we were here and that worked well. It's great having a designated parking space, we only used the car to travel further afield. If I was the owner, I would contemplate swapping the double bed for a kingsize one as the room is plenty big enough and would up the comfort level to 6 out of 5! The beds and bedding were lovely and comfy, however. I would recommend it for a break and would stay here again of ever we return to Lyme Regis.

  • "This is undoubtedly a lovely flat with a beautiful outlook to the sea and Golden Cap."

The secure parking is a bonus not always available in Lyme Regis. We have returned to this same flat several times so that must say something! The only reason I haven't given it the highest marks on all aspects is that the windows were once again not very clean, particularly the patio door, and the key fob to open the gates did not work. I do just have to mention as well (as I have previously) that the shower is very tiny and would probably be impossible for some people. Despite this we will I am sure be hoping to stay again.

  • "Before booking we wanted walking distance of Lyme Regis seafront, off street parking and comfortable, well equipped accommodation - this property ticked all the boxes."

It took us less than 10 minutes on foot to reach the top of the high street and no more than 15 minutes to reach the harbour (down hill). Easy to access, secure parking and entry to the apartment is on the same level as the carpark, so unloading was easy. Modern, comfortable and thoughtfully furnished/equipped. You get sea views, Golden Cap and coastline, as well as the sunrise as the flat faces roughly east. The block itself appears well maintained and during our stay we saw both the gardener and cleaner. Secure gated pedestrian access from the garden is a bonus and we noticed bus stops close by. We would definitely stay here again, it has everything you need for a holiday.

Still think the tiny shower is an issue which could be relatively easily resolved but this was our second visit this year so that must tell you something!

  • "Very well located apartment and clean, apart from the hand print on the french door."

Very quiet apartment block. Plenty of hanging and storage in both bedrooms, as you can't see this from the photo's on the website. The shower is quite small as previous reviews have stated, if you are tall and large you may struggle and the water is on you all the time. The wash basin was higher than a normal pedestal height, so being short was a little bit awkward. Spacious bedrooms. Light in the apartment corridor could benefit from a sensor, as using the switch didn't always come on. Secure parking and own parking space, which was obviously no 5. Also there are visitor parking spaces so if you were a couple and had another car you could probably use this, but I would check with the agent first. Lovely views from the balcony and there are chairs and a table to sit on. Two garden seating areas, one higher which you get better views of the sea from. The walk up the hill is around 15 minutes and steep at times. Lots of pubs and places to eat, but have become a bit pricey. There is a takeaway close by, down the hill. Tesco and a co-op at the bottom of the hill beside each other. Larger Tesco in Axminster. There is parking near the local tesco down the hill for one hour, limited spaces. Great apartment, but could benefit from more than a packet of biscuits for the price you pay for the apartment, although they were lovely you can't eat them without a cup of tea, which you need milk for. Toaster is looking a little worn so this put me off using it. Door to the apartment, the lock is a bit dodgy at times. Couple of fans and top flat sheets for hot weather wouldn't go amiss. Never been to Lyme Regis before but it was a lovely base and nice that we didn't need to use the car all the time.

  • "We had a really lovely stay at 5 Buckfields."

It is a lovely apartment perfect if you can cope with the hills! Secure car park which is hard to find in Lyme Regis. The only reason we haven't given it the highest smiley faces is that (as mentioned by another review) the shower cubicle is tiny which is such a shame because there is plenty of room for something a little bit bigger and just a small point is that the patio door was quite badly smeared with greasy marks and we think should have been cleaned prior to our arrival. This will not stop us staying again at Buckfields.

Thank you for your comments. We do apologise if the property didn't meet our expected cleanliness standards. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

The kitchen was excellent and had everything you would need. The garden was beautifully kept and lovely to look at from the balcony. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked perfectly. The apartment block was secure with electronic gates and felt very safe.

  • "The apartment was fantastic, and we really enjoyed our stay."

There are a couple of improvements that could be made: the shower cubicle was very small making it really hard to properly wash yourself. The property is advertised with a gas hob, and this was induction (not a biggy), and the advert states a 'welcome hamper' and this was a packet of biscuits. They were very nice, but quite a disappointment from the expectation set in the advert. However, as this is the second time we've stayed, it was nice to see the high standards have been kept, and we would love to come back again.
