  • "The house was lovely we did find the parking for 2 cats very tight we couldn’t close the gates ."

Lyme Regis was beautiful but extremely hilly if you have mobility issues the house is at a top of a hill so you really need a car to get up and down . We loved our stay and the house was so cosy and welcoming and very very clean .

  • "We had a lovely week at this beautiful cottage."

Great location and the enclosed garden was fabulous for our two spaniels. We found lots of walks, cliffs, beach and streams. Would definitely recommend. Gorgeous decor throughout, comfy beds, so relaxing. If there was a slight negative it would be the cooker has two rings (no instructions so had to YouTube how to work it). Bit tricky when cooking for a family of 4 but not the end of the world. I can see why the beautiful Aga has remained but we were not confident enough to use it and it takes 2 hours to warm up. One thing would be good - a boot/welly stand outside to save your beautiful floor. Would definitely recommend and may visit again in the summer time.

  • "Beautiful cottage with a fabulous secure garden which our little dog loved."

Easily the best cottage we have stayed in anywhere in the UK. If I was being picky I could say that a washing-up bowl and some sort of stand to drain the dishes would have been welcome. Other than that it would be impossible to find any fault. A perfect place for a holiday.

  • "When we booked this, we felt it was quite high-priced."

When we arrived, we changed our minds pretty much instantly. It is very newly refurbished, in excellent condition and has everything you need for a family week away. The large garden was perfect for our two small terriers who raced around happily after a long journey. With various seating areas in the garden, it can accommodate a number of people very comfortably. The house itself is very well appointed. The parking is a must for Lyme Regis which is otherwise very difficult, borderline impossible to park in.

  • "The house is absolutely beautiful, and surpassed our expectations."

The garden is amazing, obviously a lot of thought and care has gone into the design inside and out. It was very clean. Small quibble, the duvets were very comfortable but too hot for the summer weather. Also would have preferred a larger hob on the cooker. Overall it's one of the best places we have ever stayed as a family.

  • "Great house in Lyme Regis, Hernelee Cottage was perfect for our needs, stylish house and beautiful gardens, blessed with amazing weather we had a fab week."

It was walking distance from the beach and shops (albeit down a steepish hill) but a great location. Some simple things could be fixed to improve this house further the electrical hob/rings didn't work easily, the large rear ring just wouldn't come on it seems the touch controls were faulty, the smaller front ring worked but there was NO manual anywhere for it (we checked the handbooks inside the kitchen drawer, so it was trial and error to push the right 2 buttons together to get it on), the Aga was totally switched off (so we didn't use that as we presumed it may take a while to work). The main TV channels (i.e. BBC1/ITV etc) would not work all week, kept saying "no signal", we did manage to use Prime and we had to use our own Netflix login (as the one for Lyme Bay had been deleted) so I guess if you had rainy weather the TV would be more needed, so be good if that could be sorted. The gates for the parking area as you face the front door the one on the right would not swing back all the way as its a sloped up tiled area so it sticks, so hard to get a large car in, but small ones would be ok. But these minor issues did not detract from the great property and location, we would definitely stay there again.

  • "Hernelee Cottage is a wonderful cottage very close to all amenities."

It was spotlessly clean, the kitchen well equipped and the beds were superbly comfortable. Heating was so easy to control with heat and hot water whenever needed. Just a couple of things for feedback, not complaints. The downstairs toilet window leaked quite badly with heavy rain resulting in a lot of rain water on the floor. The washing machine was used once, but it was a washer only, no tumble dryer. Some of the kitchen utensils were rusty. The door handles on what appeared to be new external doors were very stiff and difficult to operate. All the above can be easily remedied. I just get the feeling that the cottage was opened just a little bit early after the improvements. It's a lovely cottage in a superb location. I would definitely return again.

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Hernelee. The property is not marketed with a bbq, but the owner is happy for guests to use it during their stay. BBQ gas can be purchased locally from the petrol station garage. We hope the sunny weather enabled you to enjoy the garden and local area. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "The cottage is beautiful."

It’s in a fantastic position that is incredibly convenient for wandering into town. There is a generous garden to relax in. On cloudier days you have the conservatory which I loved. The owner has gone to a great deal of trouble to present the property with real character, quality and care. The pictures don’t do it justice as it was much better than I expected. I will love to return one day. There would only be a few things that I would change. Instructions for the hob would be really useful. I have stayed in many different cottages before but found the hob less than intuitive. It drove my father to complete distraction!! The beds were incredibly comfortable. I took the opportunity to take note of the make of mattress in the largest bedroom as it was great. However the wonderful innovations of increasing air flow and coolness wiling always be negated by polyester mattress protectors etc. My only other observation would be that beds should never have hard corners. They may look cool but only ever remind you of their existence when your shin catches a corner…ouch!! That is it. I would change nothing else inside as it was simply perfect. Outside is wonderful. I found no issues with the parking. The garden was lovely and my mum was very jealous of the beautiful borders. The only down side is that we inherited someone else’s rubbish on arrival. Furthermore not all of the rubbish was bagged. I did see the instructions related to rubbish removal and the potential to be charged ( I don’t know how) if not bagged. As a consequence I took time out of my holiday to bag other peoples rubbish. I also had to buy bin liners. I see from past feed back that there have been issues with rubbish before. There are no excuses regarding instructions as they are very clear but no one is perfect so we can all forget to do things. However not having basics such as bin liners is just daft especially when this has been flagged before.

Dear Tracy. Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. We go to a lot of effort to make the house as comfortable as possible for our guests and feedback such as yours, makes it all worthwhile. Such a shame that we were both let down by the management company on something so silly - we will be having a word! Kind Regards. Property Owner

Clean, well presented an fully equipped. We really loved the décor and little touches like having hand cleansers, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc so we didn't have to buy these just for a few days. You even had an account on the TV for Netflix etc. The place didn't have any trace of pet hair/smell and our small dog loved the garden which was safe to leave her to roam around in. It is within an easy walk to the town and beach. We will definitely come back and recommend to our friends. Many thanks.

  • "We stayed last year, and booked again for this year."

The heavy curtains in the bedroom aided with sleep, as did the quality of the bed. As people who do cook for ourselves about half the time in self-catering, we appreciated the quality of the utensils, particularly the knives, in the kitchen. Having a separate dining room is great for relaxing. It also provides a good space for a dog bed, as doors can be closed off (our dog likes to sleep in a quiet room). Some suggestions: maybe provide bin bags; a laminated welcome sheet to inform of waste disposal expectations would help (again, we inherited an outside bin full to bursting: not everyone will read the binder info); brief instructions to turn on Aga would help. We know how to operate one, and needed to as it was unseasonably cool when we stayed. Our dog loved the garden (as did we), which is coming along beautifully. Some larger, less obedient, dogs may take advantage of the lower wall at the back of the garden. The property was great to stay in: clean, comfortable, well equipped, and in a highly convenient location with secure parking a big bonus.

Thank you for your kind comments about Hernelee and it's great to hear that you had such a lovely holiday. We do normally provide bin bags so apologies that these were not left out for you. I will contact the owner to ask for some AGA operating instructions to assist future guests. I do hope that you return to stay again with us. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

It had everything we needed. Beautifully decorated, who ever owns this home has fab taste. The fire place was lovely in the evenings. Kitchen had everything we needed. So clean and tidy. Garden was fab for the dogs. Our beds were so comfy, only one niggle and that would be to use fitted sheets on the beds. The flat sheets kept coming out. Apart from that it was perfect. Ideal for walking into town and back. Along with a walk to uplyme on your doorstep , into beautiful countryside. We would absolutely recommend and would definitely stay again.

  • "Thank you for sharing this property with us."

It exceeded expectations and was really comfy, well equipped and in a great location. Thank you for the welcome hamper - after a long journey it really was lovely. There were three generations in this holiday group and the accommodation allowed space for everyone to chill after a busy day or come together to play games or watch television. If you would like a suggestion - would it be possible to update the information on what to do with the rubbish. I felt really guilty not being able to find the recycling bins and was not sure if this was property policy or we should have separated everything out...

Hi Nicola Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so glad the whole family enjoyed their stay. You make an excellent point on recycling, as it is extremely important to us too. Due to the fact we are a 'commercial business' we must have a fee paid collection - but this also means that all recycling is then sorted after collection, so there is no need for separation. This information should be contained in the Guest book, but we shall revisit this to make sure it is clear. Thank you again and we really hope you come back and visit us soon. Property Owner

The cottage was well equipped with some really nice touches and an attention to detail. Although the cottage is meant to be dog friendly our dog escaped under the driveway gates and some of the walls could be jumped over by large dogs. Also the parking is not ideal and took a few goes to figure out the best manoeuvre, plus some slight damage to my car. I can’t see how 2 cars would fit on the drive as stated in the description. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Brilliant location, close to the Cobb and the front, plus Broad Street. Easy walking to Uplyme as well. It was fabulous to have such a big garden for the boys and dog to run around in. One note - our dog (a rather excitable cocker spaniel) jumped the back wall and ended up running onto the road, luckily no harm done. If you have a dog that likes to jump, beware! We just kept him tethered after the first instance. The property had so much supplied. I didn't find anything we were wanting for. The beds were comfy and the rooms were well furnished. I would definitely recommend this property. We will be back!
