  • "Ideally located for walking or driving out into Lyme Regis and surrounding areas."

Apartment is quite modern but a little tired here and there. Sofa needs cleaning, the arm chair is not very comfortable and the double bed and pillows are somewhat lumpy otherwise a fantastic place to stay.

  • "A nice modern ground floor apartment."

Great location with parking right outside the apartment and feels very secure behind the electric gates. Not sure why its only listed to sleep 4 considering that there is also a pull out double sofa bed in the living room. The fridge doesn't seem to get as cold as I'd expect. Over the week, we threw away 3 bottles of milk that had turned to cheese before the best before date. The electric hob needs a sign on the wall or on the side of the microwave advising that the isolation switch is actually hidden behind microwave. We were about to call the maintenance number when we finally discovered why the hob wouldn't turn on. An extra key for the rear garden gate would have also been helpful as our party of 4 didn't all come and go at the same time. We would definitely come back again but as with many of the other holiday rentals in Lyme Regis, the prices are often quite ridiculous over the school holidays weeks.

  • "AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE."

Pillows and mattress in main bedroom were unacceptable - raised immediately and then daily during the holiday but Skyes couldn't have been less interested. We ended up exhausted and with muscle pain (neck and back) due to lack of sleep and despite numerous phone calls and emails they refused to swap the pillows even though I sent pictures which clearly showed the poor quality. The mattress has huge dips in each side and then lumps in the middle and by the head - again I sent pictures which clearly showed the huge dips but they didn't care. Broken blind on arrival in main bedroom. Patio door in lounge didn't open and we stayed during a heatwave (I see in the guest book that this was also raised back in March). Property was dirty and dusty. Leaflets etc in the drawer was at least 2 years out of date. No instructions for the oven etc. We paid £2000 for the week. I would advise you spend your money elsewhere. Our holiday was totally ruined and wouldn't wish anyone else to experience what we had to as the owners evidently don't care judging by the blunt responses we received from them via Skyes. Have asked for some compensation for our ruined stay but again they aren't interested and have refused. Customer service was awful. There's actually no one to contact in Lyme Regis / Lyme Bay Holidays - everything goes through to Skyes in Chester. Email responses were quite rude at times. Will never book through them again. It would be helpful if they allowed me to upload pictures to go along with this review so you could see the dreadful quality of the lumpy, ripped pillows, mattress, broken blind and lack of cleanliness.

  • "The only issue we had was trying to get the hob to work."

We eventually found the ‘on’ switch hidden behind the microwave after 20 minutes of trying to find an oven manual - please provide one. We tried to ring your office on that day (Sunday) and no one answered.- there should be a point of contact every day.

  • "Have stayed here before but now a bit tired."

Sofa needs a clean. Patio door in main bedroom not too secure. Key fob did not have entry code, another resident let me in. I had to go to office to get entry code key fob. This could have been a problem had we arrived any later and your office was shut. Duvet was winter weight and I had to get this changed.

  • "According to the key collection instructions, the codes for the vehicle gate, pedestrian gate and front door to the building were supposed to be on the key fob, however none of them were."

It took a trip to the office to get the vehicle gate code and then 2 further phone calls to get the code for the pedestrian gate and the front door meaning that we had to come and go via the patio doors for a couple of days, and as 2 couples only had one set of useable keys, which impacted on our holiday plans. There was a lack of crockery in the kitchen and some of it chipped which meant that the dishwasher had to be run twice daily so that there was enough clean for meals. The apartment was generally very clean except for the floors which were very gritty and we needed to sweep them. Generally though a pleasant apartment in a lovely location, only let down by the points above.

  • "We have stayed in this block many times but this is our first visit to this property."

There were some things that weren’t as good as shown in the details and need sorting. The sofa was marked, the single chair very uncomfortable, the dining table squashed up against the wall with not much room because of the rather large plastic fern plant. The kitchen facilities were dated, limited and looking a tad tired. The freezer was unclean, the large unit in the living room which was taking up lots of space was basically housing some rather out of date literature….no information on the heating system, which meant we had to call Sykes….no joy, but luckily we bumped into two cleaners who reported it. We also reported that one set of French doors had no keys….we got absolutely no response to that. The books and games again…..pretty old. It felt as if no one was bothered! For the price we paid, it wasn’t quite good enough. The place needs a little love and something added touches to make them feel welcome and informed Finally the cleaning issue. It seems that more and more companies are relying on the visitor to clean the property. Whilst I appreciate we should leave things tidy, my worry is that the property never really gets a good clean. That really isn’t for the visitor to do and was apparent in the flat in areas. Not impressed again with Sykes….it was far better when Lyme Bay holidays. What use is calling a number that isnt remotely where you are staying only for them to not sort an issue. I received an email today from Sykes asking if the heating issue was sorted? A little late perhaps as we left the day before. This place has such potential

Their dealing of the matter has been awful and their customer service is non-existent. Unfortunately Lyme Bay Holidays are likely to have lost a loyal customer as I am not willing to book with Sykes Cottages ever again. I would love the details of the owner so that I could re-book my holiday directly with them to miss out the money-grabbing, incompetent fraudsters that are Sykes Cottages.

.missing key to patio in lounge so couldn’t open..door handle to main bathroom faulty. Tv needs up dating. General maintenance in garden and entrance to building not up to usual standard. We are re-thinking future stays ..it would be a shame if the prices go to far.

5 in February would have been nice but we just turned the heating up to compensate Also we seem to remember the kitchen tap dripping when we stayed a couple of years ago - maybe a new tap is required? However overall we love the secure, comfortable, quiet position of Seas the Day and had a great holiday- sadly since the takeover of Lyme Bay Holidays by Sykes we have to wait for a price reduction to suit our budget these days

Thank you for your comments, it's great to hear that you enjoyed the holiday. • "Lovely stay thank you but some constructive points you might like to consider: *A sea view from communal garden is stretching it; you would have to sit at an awkward angle and even then the view is very limited."

    * Both single beds very uncomfortable * Pillows were absolutely awful but this was quickly rectified after a phone call * Hooks on bathroom and bedroom doors would be very useful * No ice trays * Shower in ensuite was virtually impossible to easily turn on as was very stiff. When I finally managed to switch on i was unable to turn off (wet hands) without the aid of a towel. This really was frustrating. Thank you for great communication. Fantastic location: stones throw from shops, restaurants and beach. Only a slight hill to contend with. My 86 yr old mum had no problems with it. Would def recommend if the above could be rectified (obvs not sea view but maybe should be removed from listing) Thank you to all the staff

Everything was to a high spec. Plenty of plates, glasses etc. Didn’t know we had our own private access to the public gardens which was a bonus! Welcome pack was gratefully received as was washing up liquid, tea towel, hand wash etc. A couple of suggestions that would have enabled me to give a 5 star rating: all beds require better quality pillows. Also, 3 toilet rolls for a family of four over a week is a bit tight when paying over £1700!

I left a note for the cleaners written in dust. Absolutely disgusting. Looked like the bed sheets and towels had been changed but no cleaning had taken place. Pinky orange grime in the shower tray. Rank. I had to hoover and do a basic clean on our arrival. Not what I expect when I have one holiday a year and paid over £1500 for the week. I have complained but not got anywhere. Very disappointed.
