  • "Really lovely stay at The Lodge - we will be back, thank you!"

Perfect for six adults, baby and dogs! Brilliant location, great parking (a rarity in town centre and as we stayed in Lyme, we didn’t have to move the cars at all), beautifully maintained and equipped, lots of nooks and crannies to escape to if needed! Bedrooms lovely and beds comfortable. Lounge and kitchen/diner great places to congregate. En-suites great, shower arrangement in small bathroom could be enhanced, maybe a screen to prevent it turning into a wet room?! But no real complaints, an excellent property - we loved it.

  • "It was seriously uncomfortable sitting on the sitting room furniture."

This was regardless of age (age of those in holiday range from 20’s through to 80’s - 3 generations). Another tv would help perhaps in kitchen.

  • "Excellently presented property in a great location."

Clean and well equipped, and one of the best “Welcome Packs” we’ve seen since before Covid. The only slight negative (and it is a very minor niggle) is that the WiFi signal around the property could be better - perhaps some repeaters upstairs and in the front living room to overcome the thick brick walls?

  • "Clean and equipped for all our grown-up family needs, we appreciated the adaptations of this unique property to maximise functionality."

Definitely appreciated the location and front door access on what was one of the hottest and busiest weeks of the year in Lyme Regis. Though in terms of regulating temperature within the house, a pole long enough to open the en-suite velux window would have been an advantage. The advantages of location come at the price of the noise of passing pedestrians, buses, delivery vehicles, and other engines struggling up the hill, which did effect the sleep of those in the front bedrooms, but an inevitable trade off. Having asked a question about EV charging pre booking, I’ve would have liked further information in the pre-arrival instructions or the folder inside the house as to how to get the charger switched on / unlocked. As some of our party travelled by train, we ended up using a public charger near Axminster station instead for the one charge we needed. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

  • "The Lodge is a lovely quaint little seasidey cottage, the views out the back are wonderful and the property is stocked with most things we needed."

The welcome pack was a nice touch and very much appreciated after a long drive. The property's proximity to Lyme Regis centre is great as it was just a short walk to the restaurants, shops and beach. However, for the price we paid our expectations were higher so I'm afraid we left a little disappointed. There were aspects of the property which were in poor condition (damaged walls, broken window catches, stains on the carpets, stains on the grout in the bathrooms). On first glance it appeared clean, but we moved the footstool in the living room and found dirty tissues and other rubbish underneath, many areas were dusty, and handrails and light switches were grubby. I think the listing should also mention that the property may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Not only is it on a steep hill, but the stairs are steep, winding and uneven. The ensuite in the double bedroom is tiny and I suspect that a larger individual would struggle to get in and out the shower and move about, probably something that should also be mentioned in the details. The details mention the restricted parking which was really helpful, but unfortunately the neighbour kept parking in one of our allocated spaces which made things even more awkward. We had a few questions before our visit, and Lyme Bay Holiday answered quickly and efficiently through WhatsApp. Unfortunately one of the answers was wrong (yes, they do have a cafetiere (two in fact), we didn't need to bring our own after all), and the W3W address in the pre-arrival information needs to be corrected (it's currently directing you to a location in Trinidad!). We have rented a lot of holiday properties in the past, this was our first with Lyme Bay Holidays. Sadly they wouldn't be my first choice if I were to visit the area again.

Very clean, well stocked property with four large bedrooms. Being a period property there are parts that make you think you've had a few pints when you haven't

  • "The property was really nice, but the large bedroom in the front had NO heating and the towel rail did not work either - and that is not acceptable, although the Lyme Bay man got the heater going but not the towel rail as that needed a new part."

This is winter and those things should be sorted before someone goes, after all you are charging a lot of money to not have near on perfection. There is also damp in the downstairs front room and the top bathroom where the painted is coming off the wall quite badly.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry about the heating on arrival but glad to see that our maintenance team attended quickly and resolved as much of the problem as they could. The property has since been decorated throughout to a high standard and one of the bathrooms has been replaced. We appreciate you taking the time to leave your comments and hope to welcome you back to Dorset another time. The Lyme Bay Team. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, thank you."

The house was very clean, well equipped and spacious, with great views and lots of parking, close to the town centre. A key to the front door would be really useful: it is a long way round with heavy shopping and/or older relatives/small children, passing by the front door to go up the hill, round the corner, down the road, up the drive and up the steps to go in through the back!

It had a charming, warm atmosphere and everything was spotlessly clean. We wanted for nothing - plenty of gorgeous, soft bedding, a fully equipped kitchen and lots of games for the children. The welcome package was so generous and high quality. Being able to walk to the beach and shops made it relaxing too. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.
