"We only stayed 3 nights of what was supposed to be 7… the beds were very uncomfortable and we were cold due to it not having double glazing , this was a lot of money for me to lose as a single widower living with my autistic daughter ."
We love Lyme Regis as this is where my husband loved to take us . Very sad we didn’t get to have our holiday … the first get away in 5 years.
As a very “hands on” cottage owner I’m sorry to hear your stay wasn’t successful. I can confirm that as our cottage is a “listed building” we are not allowed to have double glazing. This is the same for all such properties in Lyme Regis. However we do have a significant central heating system, with large radiators in every room. I have opted to have this regulated by my guests via the simple NEST panel in the lounge (instructions are in the cottage file). Other cottage owners do set up timers - but I like my guests to be in control. I’m sorry if LBH did not explain this - as most of the time when we visit, my husband complains it’s too hot! We also have an electric “wood burner lookalike” in the lounge, that generally heats the lounge with minutes. I will check with LBH that this is working. With regard to the beds - I have recently put a new mattress in the master bedroom. I know memory foam mattresses don’t suit everyone - but these are the 2nd ones we’ve had since bought the cottage 8 years ago & I will personally check the pressure when we visit next month. I will contact LBH tomorrow to find out why you were not able to heat the cottage -as according to my online Nest records it was active & I wouldn’t want anyone to feel chilly in our cosy home. "Nice little cottage !"
Single beds I found uncomfortable ! The little garden needed a bit of TLc ,weeds etc.
Thank you for letting us know about the garden - I think that after all this rain some of the weeds made it through the gravel. As the nice folk at Lyme Bay Holidays manage the property for us - I will let them know the gardener needs to pop by. With regard to the mattresses in the twin room - sorry they didnt suit your needs. Its hard to know which mattress type is best to suit everyone- but I'll take a look when I get to visit in the Autumn. Thanks for visiting our cottage and do let us know if you ever visit again. Best Wishes From The Watersplash Family Property Owner

"We did really enjoy our stay and it had most of the comforts we enjoy at home."
There were a couple of things that we should highlight. The TV in the master bedroom didn’t work. Not a problem for us but for people who like to watch TV in bed it could be. The freeview remote for the living room TV didn’t work properly as you couldn’t use the down arrow to scroll through the channels. Again we used my laptop to plug in and watch channels that way. We also found a broken handle on a mug on the kitchen unit. We left it there for your team to hopefully find during the clean down. There was also no blue bag left for us to split up the linen and towels as per instructions, only a clear bag. We are back with you at Christmas in the same property and we are looking forward to coming back to the property.
I see the LBH team have responded below. As the proud owner of Watersplash Cottage we do pay the lovely LBH team to fully manage our cottage -so in future they should be able to fix any problems during your stay. We are so excited that you’re coming back at Christmas. I will be coming down beforehand to leave some Christmas treats to welcome you . But in the meantime if we the Watersplash family can help with any recommendations, please let us know. We holidayed in LR for many years before becoming Watersplash’s happy owners and still visit a lot. LBH -for your feedback, just to let you know we have got our maintenance team looking at the issues you have raised so will get this all sorted. Apologies that you had some trouble but very much looking forward to welcoming you back at Christmas. The Lyme Bay Team. Property Owner

"Waterfall Cottage was in a lovely area in Lyme Regis next to a river."
The short fairly flat walk via the river and mill courtyard or the road to the beach or high street was lovely. Cottage was ideal for 2 people. Personally not a fan of memory foam mattress and it would help if the bed was leveled (put pillows at 'foot' end). We pointed out the hole in the deck to the chap collecting the bins.

"Exterior maintenance needed."
Garden decking collapsing in the corner. Front needs repainting. Master bedroom mattress needs replacing. Deep winter duvets too hot for the season - unusable. Front door lock dangerous and not to fire regulations - you should not need to find a key to get out.
Dear Mrs Webb. So very sorry to read that you were unhappy with your stay. I was just at the cottage 4 wks ago putting up all the new topiary and hanging baskets. At the time, the decking was fine -so I can only guess that with all the recent unseasonably bad storms this is no longer the case. Having a beautiful stream at the bottom of the garden is lovely and we do check the decking and fencing regularly, to ensure nothing has got too wet during the winter months. I will ask Lyme Bay Holidays to address this immediately. With regard to the mattress this is a memory foam mattress , so is quite a different feel to a sprung one. I will again ask LBH to check nothing has changed since we were last there. Ditto with the duvets -as after 10 yrs of renting our lovely cottage, we’ve never had a request for summer duvets. But I’d be happy to do this if it made out guests more comfortable. Lastly the front door lock is in line with fire regulations and is common for property’s that share an entrance or alleyway. I have also put a key hanger in the cupboard, for people to deposit their keys. As a retired fireman’s daughter, I have this checked every year -but will also double check with LBH that the rules have not changed since our last season. Thank you for your feedback. Feedback is a gift to owners like me - as I visit regularly and want it make sure everyone enjoys their stay as much as we do. Rgds, Property Owner

"We have loved our stay at Watersplash Cottage!"
Very cosy, with everything we needed. Great location, and gorgeous to have the river running along the back of the garden! We love fossiling at Black Ven, walk to Uplyme, exploring the lovely shops etc. We had a great meal at 'Lilac', love the Town Mill Brewery, the bakery as well as buying seafood at The Wet Fish Shop. 'Swim' is another favourite! Thanks for a wonderful stay! We will be back.

"What a lovely lovely cottage!"
We had a very relaxing few days with our Murphy, the cocker spaniel. Being a black dog, we visited the Black Dog Cafe in Uplyme. Such friendly owners and delicious apple cake and clotted cream. Treated ourselves to a curry takeaway the first night and visited the Pilot Boat- great Sea Bass. The Cottage was perfect- warm, cosy, little personal touches let you know how cared for it is. The welcome pack was very thoughtful- thank you! We will recommend Watersplash Cottage.

"Thank you for a lovely stay at Watersplash Cottage!"
We definitely struck luck with the weather and we enjoyed walks on the beach with the dog, swims in the sea and ice creams on the promenade. Also lovely to sit in the garden and listen to the river. Highlights of our stay in Lyme Regis: Dinosaurland and Fossil Museum- amazing collection! Moules frites at the Lyme Bay Cafe- biggest mussels we have ever had! Dinner at the The Millside - for the fruits de mer! Langdon Hill National Trust for walk to Golden Cap- great views! Heartstopper season 3 filming during our stay! Taster board at the Lyme Regis Brewery- mix and match! We have had the best time and will be back!

"Thank you so much for the use of your lovely cottage- it had everything we needed!"
Very comfortable and very clean! Fab location! We wish we had longer to explore! Some poor weather didn't stop us- an easy drive down to the Eden Project in Cornwall kept us going.... Thank you.

"This is a lovely little cottage with a good size outdoor space."
It's nicely decorated with comfortable beds, good sized kitchen with all you need and in a good location. The lounge is very small more with comfy seating for 2 people so ok for a family but a bit snug for 2 couples. The 2 levels of stairs are steep and winding so no good if you're not fit! Apart from the 2 provisos mentioned tho, this was a lovely place to stay and we would again.

"Lovely property in a great location."
Very cosy and comfortable cottage. Staff very friendly and helpful.

"We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was lovely and in a superb position."
Lovely and peaceful but a short walk to the town and the beach. My only criticism was that as the steps down to the kitchen were quite slippy, our elderly dog was unable to manage them. I think it would be useful to mention this as other people may have the same issue. Other than this, beautiful stay, thank you.

"We've visited several times before and absolutely love Watersplash - it's a perfect retreat with bags of character even when the weather lets us down, and the location is idyllic."
But there were issues on this occasion. We'd complained before about the razor sharp edges on the drawer handles especially in the kitchen after slicing my finger on one last year, but no-one has done anything about it. The quality of washing up by previous occupants was poor - dirty saucepans (I had to rush out to buy scouring pads) and food stuck to cutlery and plates and there was an unpleasant smell in the kitchen which took days to clear. The bin bags had all bio-degraded so we had an issue putting out the rubbish. The garden furniture, which was broken and dangerous last year, has been removed but not replaced. So no chance of breakfast at the garden table. The decking was terribly slippery when it rained and the garden needs a tidy up. We love the cottage and feel very sad when standards start to slip. It's not at all cheap (especially as only 2 of us) and I stress that these are small issues but do need attention. We don't want to complain when we're on holiday - it sours something we've been looking forward to for so long but hope that polite feedback will now be acted on. If photos show garden furniture it should be available, even in March. On the plus side, cleaning was generally to a high standard - we met the cleaner and she was delightful - a credit to the company. The bedroom is super-comfortable and the heating (in a very cold wet week) was blissfully reliable. So, in spite of a few gripes, a great little place to stay.

"A quirky little cottage, well located in a quiet road with very little passing traffic and away from the hustle and bustle but near enough for a short walk into the town and seafront - perfect location."
Added bonus of a garden which backed onto the river with permit parking for the nearby car park too. Arranged over 3 floors, the stairs are a bit of a challenge! As the listing states they are quite narrow and winding but deep treads too so would be difficult for anybody suffering with knee / hip problems. That said we loved our stay and hope to return in the future.

"The property was in a superb location and a massive bonus having the garden by the river which we used alot."
The top bedroom was very hot and a shame we couldn't open the window fully on the street side to let a breeze in. The memory foam mattress took some getting used to but was fine for a week's stay. The only negative was the property stated there was a highchair so we deliberately didn't take ours. When we arrived we looked for it but couldn't find it. I messaged lyme Bay Holidays and someone said they would get back to me but they didn't so we had to improvise for the whole week which wasn't ideal.

"The cottage was absolutely perfect, small yet perfectly formed."
Having the garden space with the river running behind us was lovely and being located so close to the beach was a real luxury. Our only issue was with the cooking facilities. The cooker did not light consistently (the ignition switch sometimes worked sometimes didn't). I think a couple of additional items like a second frying pan and a few more saucepans would have made cooking for a family of 4 easier. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Watersplash Cottage.

"Lovely cute cottage very clean and well equipped with everything you need!"
Great location - 5 min walk to the sea front -shops and Restaurants etc parking is easily accessible using a permit and a 5 min walk away. Lovely walks right on your doorstep and a great base for exploring the area. We had a lovely four day last minute break and would definitely return! If we had to add add any feedback it would be maybe a couple of fans in the bedrooms as it was quite warm and a larger sofa or extra seating in the living room it’s fine for two guests but not four. The garden is also an extra bonus!
