  • "We enjoyed our holiday at Long Barn."

It’s a comfortable, cosy cottage with everything you need for a self-catering break in a lovely part of Dorset. There is some road noise as it’s on the main Bridport to Weymouth road, but that didn’t spoil the holiday for us.

  • "Thank you for a lovely break at Long Barn, we really liked the spacious feel of the cottage, the decor and the cleanliness."

It was much appreciated that you arranged for cooler duvets to be dropped off as soon as we requested them and we loved the bunch of sweet peas you left for us. You deserve a good summer season and we hope to be back another year.

We are always happy to try and make your holiday as enjoyable and comfortable as possible and our English weather can be unpredictable. We're pleased you enjoyed our spacious cottage and appreciate your feedback. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful and very well-equipped cottage."

Everywhere was spacious, comfortable, clean and tidy. We read other comments about the road being noisy, but we didn't find it a problem at all. It was lovely to have the parking area at the back of the property too. We will definitely be staying again.

  • "We had a lovely week staying in this very comfortable cottage."

It has an excellent position in the village and having a parking space made things easy. It had everything you need for a holiday and was clean and tidy. Would highly recommend it.

The dog loved it too! Shame about the busy road but it wasn’t a surprise.

Summer duvets would be much better for the warmer months It was a shame that the plants in the courtyard areas have not been looked after - could residents be told where the hose is to water them?

  • "An absolutely gorgeous thatched cottage."

Beautifully renovated, extremely clean and tidy. Wonderful furnishings, lovely bathrooms and everything you need - 5 star accommodation. Our only concern was the noisy main road the weekend when the area is more busy.

Very convenient for beach, pubs, park (for dogs) and playground (for children). Our second time in the village and not the last.

  • "The cottage is very well appointed and comfortable."

If you are looking for a quiet outside space then this is not the answer due to busy and loud traffic noise. The gate to the property is not, generally in our stay at least, closed when used by people who have access....so if you are a dog owner may cause problems as it did for us. Local amenities are impressive for walks and pubs.

  • "Great location, would be good to have two parking spaces as not all couples travel together."

Also a lighter duvet for summer use. Apart from that perfect.

  • "The cottage is beautiful and well equipped but we only gave 4 stars for facilities as the second bedroom has nowhere to hang any clothes or much drawer space and is set out as a childrens room."

(we were all adults). The village and location is ideal for visiting the area but the cottage is on a very busy and noisy road.

  • "The only criticism I have is the position of the cottage on a road that was much busier than I expected."

Lovely village though, two excellent pubs with good food and lovely to be able to walk to the beach. The cafe/restaurant on Hive beach also very good.

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location."

Easy walking to 2 pubs and the beach. Great kitchen and facilities but strange only 3 stools at the breakfast bar when the property sleeps four. Lounge and beds comfy. Bath upstairs looked good but hot water supply up there to bath or shower isn’t great. Downstairs shower works perfectly though. Overall a great stay and we would return.

  • "The house is in a lovely location, walking distance to great pubs, great coastline and Hive beach with a great beach cafe."

The house itself was great. It was impeccably clean and better equipped than we had expected. The house is on the main village road which is surprisingly busy and does mean that the bedrooms can be quite noisy with passing traffic - especially if you need the windows open! We very much enjoyed our stay.

Very well presented and maintained. It was spotlessly clean, had everything you need re, towels, kitchen equipment etc. Great patio to catch the sun. Really faultless.

  • "A wonderful stay, our 4th time in the village and the best cottage we have stayed in."

The property is light, they have used the space very well and it was very comfortable for our family of 4. The house is very well equipped, everything we could need, the bedrooms were very comfortable and had lots of storage space. The conservatory was a lovely addition to use in the evening and we had a brilliant time. Owner/Dream Cottages very responsive to a slight issue with a tap on our first evening and we were very grateful.

  • "The cottage was generally very comfortable, spacious and well-furnished."

As others have mentioned, the traffic noise from the main road was very obvious though it didn't cause any particular problems. One issue that needs attending to is the sliding door to the downstairs shower room which sticks when closed so that it is easy to get trapped inside. This happened to us numerous times and people could only be freed by someone opening the door from the outside.

  • "As a family we holiday in West Dorset frequently and always gravitate towards West Bay and Burton Bradstock."

As we were visiting in The midst of Covid we felt a cottage in the beautiful quiet village of Burton Bradstock would be ideal and we absolutely were not disappointed! The cottage itself was perfect for our family of 4, spotless and nicely decorated. We found that being situated next to the park was fantastic as we could sit in the conservatory or in the patio and watch our children play comfortably and see them at all times. The cottage is well situated in the village with two shops within very short walking distance along with two pubs that serve absolutely glorious food! It is also reasonable walking distance from the beach although if you are carrying a lot with you (picnic/chairs/ body boards etc) you May want to drive. It is also 20ish minute journey into Weymouth Via the pretty village of Abbotsbury with access to Chesil Beach On the way which is handy. We found the cottage to be Comfortable, well positioned and well maintained however one thing to bear in mind is that It sits on quite a busy road and at night we found that cars sped through the village at dangerous speeds (this is clearly an ongoing problem as we noticed volunteer community speed traps a few times), we were also woken a few times in the night by cars zooming past at speed. Another point to note is that, while the cottage met our needs, it is relatively basic facilities wise compared to the cost, we have had accommodations of similar quality and location with hot tubs, games rooms beach equipment etc for much cheaper than this booking HOWEVER I think it is fair to assume that we paid a premium due to the Covid situation and it would previously been less expensive. We would certainly visit Longbarn again, our kids loved it too!

  • "Nice property, but pet owners need to be aware that access to the main road at front of house is easy if gate not closed."

Gate generally needs to be open for access by other householders throughout day. Also just one thin loo roll in toilet. Might have been nice to have a spares (of better quality) considering the price of the holiday booking.

  • "Generally a lovely cottage, although suffering a bit from damp on the Ground Floor (giving it a damp smell)."

Only criticism is perhaps a more 'feminine' touch in the main bedroom - i.e. no hairdryer (although this was rectified very quickly, thank you for that); no mirror or chair by the table/drawers for hair/make up etc. needs to be near an electric point. It was great to be in Burton Bradstock, although unfortunately we would not book this cottage again - we did like and enjoy the property, it was well furnished, spacious and good to sit in the conservatory - but the road is very close with constant traffic throughout the day and at night.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and that you felt Long Barn was a spacious well-furnished cottage and enjoyed the conservatory. The owner takes pride and effort to make sure her guests have a lovely holiday and takes all feedback on board, so they are going to add a hairdryer, another mirror and a chair near to the chest of drawers to make things more comfortable for guests. Reviewing the property details, we see our photography shows the proximity to the road and the property is marked on google maps, to make this as clear as possible. Your views are as important as your initial booking so that we can keep providing the best UK holiday experience.
