  • "While we were happy with the cottage and the facilities, we would not rate the service provided by Dream Cottages/Dream Cottages."

When asked for the remainder of the deposit, the email said I had authorised the amount to be debited to the card I had previously used so I did nothing. However, the next day I received another email saying I had 24 hours to pay, so I did. Two days later I discovered two payments had been debited so I tried for several hours to speak to someone at Dream Cottages/Dream Cottages on a number of phone numbers to no avail. I was later credited with one of the payments but it did nothing to relieve my frustration at not being able to speak to anyone, which I think was a poor service

  • "Great cottage."

Convenient for hive beach and other local attractions. Clean and homely with everything you need. Sorry the only bad thing was rubbish. These days it shouldn't be so inconvenient. No recycling at morrison were we took packaging, bottles, tin and plastic. No food waste disposal. The bottles we took home but sadly the rest went in the bin. Which the bin men don't take, presumably the cleaners take it. Still love to come back 1 day. Thanks

  • "The holiday let was perfect size and a great location."

We had everything we needed but the cleanliness brought the holiday down. Cleaners were still there on arrival and whilst they had done a good top clean, there clearly hasn’t been anyone there to do a deep clean for a while. For example, Cupboards and draw spaces not cleaned out, bugs have been squashed into the blinds over time and these have not been cleaned or replaced. Cobwebs on the ceiling that were definitely older than 24 hours and the sofa hasn’t been cleaned either. There was too much excess stuff crammed into cupboard spaces which meant there was limitations on what items we could store whilst we were there too. It was a lovely place in principle to stay and we did enjoy our holiday but we did feel the need to keep cleaning things we shouldn’t have to whilst being there. Also might be worth a warning notice for the garden about snakes, as the warm evenings was bringing them out to play!

  • "This is a lovely property in a quiet setting (corner of a small cul de sac) and has a really beautiful secluded garden with attractive planting and plenty of seating."

It was a real treat to sit out there in the evening and to hear the bird song and we even saw some rabbits! The location is perfect for Hive Beach, just a short five minutes away and we thought the beach at Burton Bradstock (and the big ice creams from the Hive Beach cafe) were superior to both Charmouth and West Bay! We would also recommend the Three Horseshoes in the village where we had a great evening meal. The property itself was very spacious, the pictures don’t do it justice, and was perfect for a group of five of three generations, with the children able to relax in the spare sitting room. It was also extensively equipped with everything you could possibly need including a wide range of board games for the inevitable odd rainy day. The only negative was that in the twin bedroom there wasn’t a chest of drawers or wardrobe to hang up clothes, but just a small bedside table with two drawers and a hook with some hangers on the wall. This wasn’t sufficient for pre-teens staying for a week. It really needs some extra storage. Overall, a great location, well equiped, a clean and comfortable property with plenty of space. We would recommend to others and would definitely return if we were to come to Dorset again.

  • "This was our second stay at Pebbles."

The house and garden is just as lovely as we remembered. It is in an ideal location with easy access to the beach, the coastal path, the Hive Beach cafe, and a short walk from pubs in Burton Bradstock. All serve excellent food. There was so much to do in the locality that we have still not done everything we want to do, so we have already booked to return in 2025. We needed raised a couple of issues with Sykes customer Services directly (due to normal wear and tear of some of the fixtures and fittings). The response was quick, and hopefully these were addressed on changeover day.

  • "We had such a lovely stay at this delightful bungalow - I felt immediately at home."

It is tastefully decorated, very clean and the kitchen is the best equipped of anywhere I’ve stayed! The garden is a beautiful haven and, with with the full height windows, we could enjoy the views even in wet weather. There was ample parking for our three cars and it could have accommodated more. It’s in a great location - just a few minutes walk to Hive beach, with great local walks, excellent pubs nearby and easy access to local attractions. We’d love to come and stay here again and would highly recommend!

  • "Pebbles cottage was an excellent property, in a great location with all we needed."

...however it was very badly let down by very poor standards of cleanliness. The main living area in particular had clearly not been hoovered nor dusted and all the windows, on the inside were grubby with hand and finger marks. We had to clean the windows before we could enjoy the lovely garden views. We had to report a broken hinge on the patio door which meant that we could only access the garden via the external gate, making it a bit less convenient for us to enjoy the sun trap outside in the garden. I would point out that the previous occupant also mentioned cleanliness and a musty smell as issues....who monitors the cleaning contract?

  • "Pebbles is a lovely property to stay in."

It was very comfortable and warm. The main room was a great space for a family and it was also nice to have a second sitting room for those wanting a bit of quiet time. The garden is lovely as well. It was a shame the weather was a bit too changeable to enjoy in full but was lovely to look out onto. We came in a family sized car and found it a tight squeeze to get onto the drive through the entrance and extremely difficult to back out of especially with the high pavement outside. So much so we parked on the road. It is a short walk to the local beach and within walking distance to the village. There is a lot to do in the area especially for those like us like the outdoors. Only a couple of minor issues, a dining chair needed to be mended underneath and the dishwasher handle on left side is in danger of coming off. The property was a bit musty but think that was to do with it not being lived in all the time and it was early April. All in all a great stay in a good property.

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of this house."

At no time did we feel cramped, and the addition of a second TV room meant that the young adults with us could watch Love Island and we could sit in the garden outside the French doors from the vaulted sitting area in peace! The decor is light and airy and has a seaside feel to it. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and it was easy to cater for everyone and a decent size dining table meant that we could sit at the table easily. The garden is also delightful with terracing up and away from the house with a variety of borders overflowing with flowers. Sitting at the top of the garden having lunch in dappled sunshine listening to the birdsong and looking at the view of hills beyond was delightful. When in during the evening, we sat outside on the patio close to the house and enjoyed the evening sun. As has been remarked by others, the photographs simply do not do it justice. We were surprised that other reviewers listed minor gripes with the house. This appears a fault with the feedback form as there is no section to provide feedback to the owner that is not made public. Our feedback on the house is that the metal garden chairs need replacing as the legs are uneven due to rust (one can sit on them but they lean backwards) and the smaller wooden bench at the top of the garden is rickety and needs replacing. All in all, the house was lovely and we had a great holiday. Pebbles is a short walk down the hill to the beach and the wonderful Hive beach café was a treat. It’s also only a short drive into Bridport with excellent shops, Wednesday and Saturday market as well.

Only small issues we feel need addressing. The bolt on the ensuite door dropped out because the retaining screw was missing. Likewise the lock on the shared bathroom did not work despite gently turning and the plug in that basin didn't retain the water. There was also a problem one day with the cistern in the ensuite not stopping the water flow after flushing, for as much as 15 minutes and it seemed to start flowing quite randomly without flushing. As it is blocked in we couldn't check the ballcock. It did seem ok the day we left.

The kitchen is very well equipped, one of the best we have stayed in. The beds were very comfortable and the garden was lovely. We did not have the best weather but made the most of the lovely walks along Hive beach and beyond. Plenty of places to visit, the Swannery in Abbotsbury is a must. The swans are fed in the afternoon at 4pm, you are invited to feed them if you wish to do so, amazing experience. Only two pubs in Burton Bradstock, a fifteen minute walk away, beware it is pitch black on the way back to the property so need a torch! Probably not a problem in the summer months. Perhaps having a torch available in the property may be a good idea. All in all we had a great week.

As we said there is not enough bin space or recycling facilities. . When we arrived last Friday we noticed black bin bags on top of the bin so there is obviously a problem here. A bigger black bin would be useful. We also had to take all our recycling items back home because there is no system to deal with this. Not right in this day and age. Thanks Dave Andrews

  • "We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the cottage- much bigger and more modern then the pictures show."

The open plan living room/dinner/kitchen is a brilliant sociable space and had a great view of the BEAUTIFUL garden (where we spotted rabbits every day!). The extra reception room was really handy if you have children! It's a short and easy walk to the beach and a good base for things to do in Dorset. The driveway is quite narrow on entry so if you are in an SUV you need to take it carefully. Overall the house was spotlessly clean but we were disappointed to find the sink in the utility hadn't been cleaned and a stained (unsure if also unclean) towel in the twin room- normally we wouldn't be too bothered, and such things can easily happen but given the covid cleanliness expectations this did concern us. Regardless we loved the cottage and would have booked again for the summer if it had been available!

  • "We had only two small problems, One was the use of the keybox by the front door."

We are of fairly small stature, and it was set a little too high for comfort. It was also not easy to use, as the small black catch was rather stiff. The other was the toilet seat in the en-suite bathroom. It is impossible to keep the seat raised, which for a man is awkward! Apart from those small niggles, it is an extremely well-equpped and appointed property, which we would happily book again if we were to return to the area.
