  • "The house is lovely only issue was Rubbish and Laundry still left from previous occupant."

Cleaning left a lot to be desired. We didn’t use the fridge or oven as they was dirty . Crumbs on kitchen work tops .There is a horrible smell in the hallway by front door we think this was because bins not emptied it was full .windows were filthy the house just needs a good clean otherwise it was lovely

Thankyou for your feedback, we are pleased you loved the house. We are sorry you found some cleanliness issues. On the day of your check out the Property Maintenance Team discovered that the freezer in the locked garage had completely defrosted along with all the contents, which was what was causing the smell in the hall. This has since been cleared away. We are always available during guests stay to investigate any issues you may have. Property Owner

We found the property to be clean, kitchen, bathrooms etc. The garden was weeded and tidy. The WiFi was ok, the upstairs patio did have furniture. The location is good, nice development and easy to find. It is near lots of shops, the Beehive Bakery is great, the local garage stocks Cook! which was nice for a treat. We had great weather, lots of walks on Portland, great pub quiz at The George, had a great time. The boiler did keep going out, might need a service? No tea, coffee or milk, quite unusual to not provide these, esp at those prices, I did leave teabags for the next people. Overall, we were happy.

  • "Lovely spacious house."

Comfy beds, quality furniture and good TVs. However the house was very dirty. I spent the first day cleaning. The laundry toilet was stained thick with urine, dust everywhere including large clumps under furniture. The throws and cushions were dirty. The sofa seam had come apart. Microwave was rusty inside and the kettle looked disgusting covered in scale. The TV unit in the kitchen was thick with dirt/dust. The shower head needs updating in the ensuite. Lots of spill marks and debris left. All toilet roll holders were rusty. The garden was full of weeds and the blinds had been installed on the wrong side causing a lot of noise when windy. No mirrors near a socket. A very neglected house. I wouldn't stay here again.

No floors had been swept. Everywhere was dusty! Microwave was filthy and we couldn’t use it as it was so dirty. Garden was a mess with weeds! Garden furniture was not clean. The bedroom terrace was filthy….couldn’t sit out there as it was so dirty. Hairs in the sinks back of toilets hadn’t been cleaned. Never stayed in such a dirty house which is a real shame as the house is lovely but not clean!

The property over time has become more tired looking and less cared for. The cleanliness is poor and although this could be a very beautiful and welcoming home to stay in, many items are now in a poor state of repair. It also seems welcome items - toilet rolls/tea and coffee, are no longer left for arrival.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We do apologise that you had issues whilst you were staying but since your stay in July, these have been addressed with the management team and improvements made, as recent feedback reflects . We do advise all guests if they have any problems whilst they are in the property to let us know and our teams are always on hand to help. We hope to welcome you back again soon. Dream Cottages. Dropped to a 3 star as the cleanliness was not great. We arrived after a 5-hour journey desperate for the bathroom only to find no toilet paper in any of the bathrooms - we have never arrived at a cottage without at least 1 roll of toilet paper ! There was a lot of dust on the floors and a remote control missing from one of the bedrooms, which it seems was mentioned in a previous review. The fluff catcher hadn't been cleaned in the dryer and there were lots of weeds growing in the gatden.... lots of very little things that a 4 star cottage should do and be as standard. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, and the fact that there was a small field behind the property for the dogs was great.Anyone visiting should try the beehive cafe and bakery at the bottom of the field...only a short 5 min walk away.

  • "Some of the property photos and description were misleading."

The listing clearly stated that the balcony had furniture which was also supported by a photograph of furniture in place on the balcony but in reality it was non existent which disgraceful. Part of the reason I chose to book this property was the thought that we could sit out on the balcony and watch the sunset. There is a photo of what appears to be an alcove with a chair and books in reality it’s just a cleverly photographed part of the lounge. The Sykes rep needs to take a serious look at the cleanliness, it’s grimy. The garden gate does not shut easily, the ‘flower bed’ is full of weeds the slabs need jet washing. The kitchen resources were poor initially 4 tumblers, dishwasher marked hi ball glasses, 6 breakfast bowls, no teapot, grubby placemats, no coasters. Sykes did add extra glasses and bowls but this was at myself having to contact them on several occasions. The house sleeps 8 it should have easily catered for 8. Doorbell not working sounds petty but we were having to use phones to call each other to open the door if the only people in the house were downstairs.Remote controls not available for all TVs. Not enough hangers for towels in bathrooms for 8 guests. No coasters to protect furniture. Vertical blinds gather at window opening side so when the windows are open the blinds are blown around. Shower head in master en-suite cannot be adjusted and shower knobs missing parts so difficult to adjust. Hope this helps and other guests do not have to have the difficulties that myself my 80 year old parents and my daughters have had, I chose to book through Sykes because I assumed that the property would be maintained to a good standard, however it was not.

Everything you could need is there. Excellent location within easy reach of the of the sea and all the attractions that the area has to offer. Portland Bill is a must go and see & Billie Winters beach bar on the causeway to the mainland has lovely food and the staff are really friendly too. Nice views and lovely sunsets from the first floor lounge and balcony. We were blessed with the weather and the time we spent at the property was mostly in the garden which was nice and safe for our 2 year old Grandson. There were also stair gates available to use although we had taken our own. Would definitely recommend staying here

  • "This property has the potential to be 5 stars."

Good location, spacious and very comfortable. However it is lacking in love. When we arrived the windows were very dirty and driveway covered in weeds. Within less than an hour of arrival the fuse box tripped, since this is kept in a locked garage we had to call the helpline. It tripped twice more during our 7 night stay. Two of the toilet seats were unsafe, we reported this Sunday and it took until Wednesday afternoon for them to call us. The kitchen was generally well equipped but we did have to buy oven gloves and egg cups. Generally the house was clean but we found rubbish belonging to others in empty cupboards. All of these issues could easily be resolved with a little more attention to detail.

Jurassic Coast House did not disappoint, stayed here with 7 adults and a 18 month old toddler . The kitchen facilities were brilliant with lots of crockery , cooking utensils and pots and pans . The enclosed garden was brilliant and safe for a toddler to run about and as it was Astro turf even with a couple of days of rain she was able to get out into the garden . The beds were comfortable and accessories and decor lovely . The living room space was comfortable and allowed us all to spend quality family time together. There is a expansive collection of dvds , jigsaws , books and games so even on a rainy day there is entertainment . An added bonus was there were several stair gates which made this property even with 2 sets of stairs a safe environment for an inquisitive toddler . Portland is a great place to stay with walks from the door step to the beach , Portland castle , D -Day landing museum ( loved this museum allowing you to climb in all the exhibits and handle the guns etc ) , the Olympic rings and the Royal naval cemetery. An outstanding property ! One thing which may have helped would have been another key as there was only one key which made it slightly difficult when we wanted to do different days out .

Excellent facilities, the Sonos devices were an unexpected pleasure. The kitchen was very well equipped with a good supply of baking trays and sharp kitchen knives, things that are often lacking from holiday properties. Our only slight criticism was that the family room could have been cleaner (there was quite a bit of dog hair on the floor) and there was a full food bin and bottle bin in the rear garden when we arrived. We contacted Sykes who came to collect the bins.

The house has everything you need and has room for 2 cars to park. The only thing I’d recommend you to take is a fan, I took mine and glad I did. The Kingsize bedroom on the second floor has a door which opens onto a sun terrace which is a sun trap which is lovely to sip with a coffee in the morning. There’s a dartboard in the kitchen and there’s plenty of games if you take children and there’s also a Putting hole in the lawn. Good location with plenty of buses and 5 minute walk to get a Ferry to Weymouth which was lovely. No need to drive. Great base to stay. We visited Bridport, Lyme Regis, Chissil Beach and went to Weymouth twice. There are a couple of pubs which have lovely food which you can walk to and some lovely walks. Our last evening went on the opened top bus to see Portland Bill lighthouse which was lovely with great views. Great holiday and didn’t want to come home

Cot and high chair available on request. Would recommend and will be back soon hopefully! Only a couple of small improvements: 1. The house could do with a mirror in the natural light (of which there is loads in this house) 2. New blinds/ curtains would be good. Not black out and let so much light in.
