  • "Lovely home, very quiet area."

Space in home is great very roomy. Only 2 of us stayed here so it was just used as a base but the kitchen was fully equipped should you wish to cook. The only thing that was missing and this is personal opinion based on other places we have rented there was no games, cards etc for children normally there is a cupboard full so maybe this would be a nice addition for a family using the property. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

Each room tastefully decorated to give a nautical feel about the place We did enjoy sitting in the courtyard at the end of the day with a glass of wine as the Sun went down We did think the booklet that came with the property could have had more information regarding what was on Portland itself rather than focus on Weymouth Other than that we had an amazing day thank you very much

Good sized well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room. Beds were comfortable and the showers were very good. The enclosed outdoor area was very useful particularly with our small dog. There are a number of very local green spaces to walk your dog.

  • "A very smart and comfortable holiday let."

The layout is ideal with the large kitchen dining room on the ground floor and the spacious living room with its access to the outside terrace on the first floor. Comfortable beds and everywhere was very clean and well maintained. Location was ideal for us to explore both Portland and the coastline nearby. Only thing missing is hanging space for clothes as only one of the bedrooms has a wardrobe.

  • "All down stairs radiators were really rusty and needed painting."

Skirting boards were very dusty and downstairs needed painting in areas. Toilets were faulty and took along time to fill up, in turn wasting a lot of water. Main issue there were loads and loads of Ants in the kitchen, there are previous comments regarding this some please act and get this sorted!! Also dishwasher door spring is broken which needs attention. Overall we had a really nice time and the place is lovely just needs some maintenance, we paid a lot as it was half term week so you would not really expect these issues.

  • "All the facilities and equipment was good and functioning."

The house and furniture was very neutral and pleasant. The outside patio area might need a bit of TLC before the summer really gets going as it was a bit untidy and needed a good pressure wash and weed. It’s a seaside house so windows are bound to get salt water marks on them but they didn’t look like they’d been cleaned for a while. The bathrooms were clean and nice. We couldn’t get really hot water in the first floor bathroom so showers and baths there were a bit lukewarm. But the top floor shower was boiling hot and couldn’t seem to turn it down! On the ground floor there is a problem with ants which I discovered after leaving a packet of mint humbugs on the shelf in the hallway. They were crawling over and inside the packet so I had to throw them away. I think this is a known problem because there was ant powder under the sink to use. The bedding and pillows were soft and clean but we found the beds a bit uneven and ended up sleeping in separate beds to avoid rolling together! Lots of cupboard space for clothes! Overall we had a lovely week exploring the local area and the house was a nice place to have a base to do that.

  • "Enjoyed our stay, very well equipped and comfortable house, ideally situated."

Would be useful to have the instruction for the washing machine etc in the information folder as we didn’t find them until late in the week. To appeal to older couples it would be nice to have a zip and link kingsize bed in the children’s room that could then be separated if needed. We used the children’s room so we had sole access to the second bathroom as our friends had the en suite.

  • "We had 2 occasions to contact Dream Cottages."

They were responsive and dealt with the issues raised quickly. One issue, freezer broken, obviously could not be replaced immediately but they brought us a temporary portable freezer. The new fridge freezer was in situ within a couple of days Another issue which has been mentioned on previous reviews is the outside terrace garden. It’s is full of weeds and looks rather unkempt. The isssue, also mentioned before, is Ants which are in abundance in the downstairs areas. Finally it would have been useful to us in the description if we had known that the housing complex was next to an industrial estate.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at Pebbles Reach. We appreciate your kind words regarding our responsiveness in addressing the issues you encountered during your stay. Our team strives to provide prompt assistance and we are glad that we were able to quickly address the broken freezer by providing a temporary portable freezer and subsequently replacing it with a new fridge freezer. Regarding the issue of ants in the downstairs areas, we are aware that this has been mentioned in previous reviews. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We are working closely with professional pest control services to address this problem and take appropriate measures to prevent their presence in the future. We appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter. On a recent maintenance inspection there was no sign of any ants so these measures appear to have worked well. The garden isn't a formal garden so the borders do contain a mix of wild flowers. With regard the location - Pebbles Reach is a few moments walk to the stunning Chesil Beach and very close to the National Sailing Academy. As you will be aware Portland is a working commercial harbour so there is an element of business activity. The coastguard is based near by so every now and then helicopters come and go. Many people find them fascinating. The industrial estate I think you may be referring to is about 400m away beyond the playing fields and is home to the lovely Beehive Coffee Shop. Property Owner

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay with us. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and for not meeting your expectations. Our team is investigating these issues. We are also sorry that you feel the property was overpriced, our research shows it to be comparable to similar properties in this location . Your feedback is valuable to us and will be used to make improvements for future guests. Update - The toilet cisterns are fed by the rainwater storage system as the property was constructed to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4. As such the feed is at a lower pressure than the rest of the water supply so may take a little longer to refill. We can confirm that all 3 toilets work perfectly as do both showers. We have also reviewed the photographs of the property and they are definitely the correct ones taken after the refurbishment in 2022 and accurately represent Pebbles Reach Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed the stay at the property, but there were a few minor items that were a little disappointing."

    1) Toilet roll provided was minimal, and soon required replenishment. For the amount of money paid, it would be nice to have this provided. 2) There was no brown bin for the food waste, so we contrary to requirements, we had to put food waste in with the general rubbish. 3) Both recycling, bottle and general waste bins were full. We could not fit in our waste. 4) Towards the end of our stay we had an e-mail requesting us to clean the property, however, there were not really any cleaning materials or items that we could use. We did hoover, and left it as clean as possible. Despite these relatively minor items, we enjoyed our few days in the Portland and Weymouth area.

It was nice and quiet in the square. It would have been nice if there was a patch of grass on the terrace garden or artificial turf for the dog but that’s us being a little picky. Lovely walk down to the marina and a couple of places to hang out especially rock the boat. Bowleaze Cove is a great place to go if you’ve got your 4 legged friend with you, it’s all dog friendly and plenty of places to relax for food etc. you’ll find it at the far end of Weymouth at Preston. All in all a great holiday

Perfectly positioned for day trips to the surrounding areas. House was very well equipped, spacious and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend! Our one and only suggestion for improvement would be to put some proper curtains/blackout blind up in the twin room - with children staying in that room, they are extremely likely to wake up with the sunrise!
