  • "I have stayed in many holiday rentals around the world and this has to rate in the top three - only surpassed by ones with a better view."

The house was spotlessly clean, smelt beautiful with many diffusers around (a first for me and a lovely touch), was roomy and had everything we needed especially a downstairs bedroom for my 96 year old mum with the kitchen next door for her early morning cuppa.. Good parking and in a great position on the island to view the many attractions. I can highly recommend this property and would stay again if holidaying in the area.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I’m very pleased to hear you enjoyed the house and am especially happy that it worked so well for you elderly mum. I hope you come and stay again in the future! Best wishes, Irene Property Owner

  • "Sea Gem has been a convenient and very comfortable stay for us."

The photos did it justice and the facilities were excellent. One slight down was the lack of storage in the kitchen, but the biggest negative was the lack of curtains or black out blinds for the bedrooms. In addition to the street lighting, it stays light late and gets light very early in May and the Venetian blinds, although were excellent for privacy, were hopeless for darking out the bedrooms. I was fine, but my Mum and sisters also struggled with the road noise behind the house - they are just not used to having a through road near their homes.

Thank you so much for your feedback and sorry for not responding sooner. I am pleased to hear you had a comfortable stay. I am sorry you found the road noise too much, unfortunately this is beyond our control. I am aware of the lack of kitchen storage and am hoping to find some way to improve this. We have also now installed blackout blinds in all bedrooms. Many thanks again and I hope to welcome you again at Sea Gem! Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely house close to the marina, the castle and the DD Centre on Portland."

The house is well furnished with some nice touches and the patio was a good place to sit in the afternoon. The kitchen was well stocked although some storage space for our food would have been welcome. There was parking for 2 cars and an easy drive to Weymouth and a good place from which to explore Portland.

  • "We couldn't have asked for nicer place to call home for a week."

A fantastic house that is furnished to a high standard and has everything you need. The location is great as place to plan and start your adventures from, whether its exploring the island and Chesil Beach or the wider Jurassic Coast. We have made lots of happy memories and plan on staying again.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the house and the area. We look forward to welcoming you and your family again in the future! Property Owner

  • "The house was exactly as described, very clean and exceptionally warm."

Its location was good for walking and sight seeing. Beautifully decorated for Christmas by the owner. Although there were 4 bathrooms, 2 of them had showers that only reached an uncomfortable tepid temperature.

Dear Gillian. Thank you very much for your lovely, positive feedback. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the decorations! I am very sorry to hear that you had problems with 2 of the bathrooms. I was unaware that there was an issue with the water temperature and will get a plumber out to look in to this asap. I sincerely hope this didn't spoil your holiday and hope to welcome you back another time! Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

The house is lovely and was spotlessly clean. The decor and furnishing are all really nice and we especially liked the outdoor area. Great location and the harbour and supermarkets are all within walking distance. Locals are all really friendly too. Would recommend booking if eating out and had a lovely meal at The Cove House Inn. Weymouth is also a short drive away and lots of good restaurants and bars around there. Visited lots of places that are all within easy reach of the property by car (Portland Bill, Durdle Door, Monkey World, Sea Life and Sandworld). Would highly recommend and thank you for all the little touches in the property that made our stay enjoyable.

  • "A perfect getaway in a fantastic location."

The house is gorgeous, with literally everything we needed for a self-catering escape. Loads to do locally and 2 minute walk to the beach/harbour. So much to explore that we'll definitely be back.
