"A beautifully presented cottage with everything you need for a self catering holiday."
The place was spotlessly clean. We had milk, tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits on arrival. People with mobility problems might find the stairs a challenge as they needed to be climbed with care.

"Had a lovely christmas break in this cosy cottage."
spotlessly clean, very comfortable furniture, lovely open fire..the kitchen was very well equipped, everything you needed. the owner had put some xmas bits around which was very thoughtful. the stairs were steep, but not a problem as there was a banister to hang onto. the only criticism was the single bed was a bit uncomfortable as you could feel the springs. maybe a thick mattress topper would help. other than that it was perfect. Lots of places within easy driving distance, the trailway was a nice walk, we had heavy rain and gale force winds all the time we were there, but didnt stop us going out!
Thank you for your helpful comments and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We will look into a mattress topper. Property Owner
-
"A superb cosy, warm and comfortable cottage."
Plenty of free cupboard space in the kitchen and quality cooking equipment including a slow cooker. Comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities with quality linen and towels. Excellent Wifi connection. A truly peaceful location with walking trails from the door but also easy vehicle access to the main routes for inland attractions and the coast. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your kind words, enjoining my cottage and surrounding Dorset area. - June Property Owner

"Very comfortable cottage with excellent kitchen close to supermarket and pub."
It is a little tight for space upstairs but ideal for the two of us. Comfortable beds. Good value.

"Absolutely lovely cottage."
Spotlessly clean and well equipped. The owners have managed to fit plenty of cupboards in very cleverly. The comfort and quality of the sofa and armchair were exceptional. Good beds too. The location is nice and quiet up a little lane and handily situated for the shops of Blandford Forum. There is also nice pub within walking distance in the village which serves good food and was very welcoming.

"This was a traditional cottage."
Quite old fashioned in decor. The owner was very helpful when there was an issue with the plumbing, which was rectified the same day. The bed was very comfortable. As stated by previous visitors the stairs are very steep and tight to manoeuvre. The kitchen provided us with all that we required. The area was close to the coast and many attractions.
thank you for your feedback sorry about Plumbing problem and rectified. The same day thanks to a son who is a plumber .the cottage was built in 1860 A railway cottage perhaps although in the brochure more aware could be made of stairs Property Owner

"We loved our stay at Poppy Cottage."
It was exceptionally clean & very well-equipped. The owners were very keen to point out that the 4th bed was a trickle bed which was actually not a problem at all. The stairs did pose more of a problem for one of our party though as they were quite steep. It might be worth mentioning this to prospective guests. Overall, very satisfied with our stay. Many thanks.
Thank you for your feedback perhaps we can make visitors more aware of stairs Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in a very peaceful area."
Very well equipped. The only negative for me was the steep stairs. It would be helpful to have some leaving instructions re linen.
Thank you for staying at my cottage. I have taken your feedback onboard and I have generated some instructions for future use regarding the linen. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay, and maybe hope to see you again. Property Owner

"The cottage was very clean and particularly well equipped with cooking equipment."
The kitchen worked very well. It also had a shower mat, which we rarely find, and do need if the shower is over the bath. It did not have any information (apart from relating to the electrical equipment) and, for example, we needed to enquire about the recycling information which varies in different areas. The shower controls had symbols for operating it, and these were difficult to understand - we never did so. The stairs were difficult, as we had been warned in advance, and we found them particularly difficult if we were carrying anything, for example the vacuum cleaner which lived upstairs. The owner was a very helpful and friendly lady. I am sorry that we forgot to write in the Visitors Book which was in a cupboard and we overlooked when we left.
Thank you for your feedback, which we always welcome and we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday. There was a leaflet with the recycling details behind the t-pot which you must have missed. With regard to the shower, all instructions are in the book which is available to all guests in the property. Property Owner

The cottage has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay and, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and kind. If you are looking for a quintessential, cosy cottage in a beautiful location, then I couldn't recommend Poppy Cottage highly enough.
Thank you for your positive feedback, your comments are much appreciated. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at Poppy cottage. It was a pleasure meeting you. Property Owner

"Had to come down to Dorset to entertain our three lively grandchildren over the half term."
Poppy Cottage was fairly close by and provided a welcome retreat at the end of each busy day. Delightful little place in a quiet setting, so that we could get the necessary sleep. Spotlessly clean, comfy beds and cosy - with all that we needed. Everything up to date and working well. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you for your kind comments about my Cottage, I'm glad all was well to rest, after wonderful days with your grandchildren. Property Owner

"The cottage was very comfortable and well-fitted out."
It was nice to have milk, coffee and tea left for us. There was also good information left on the local area, and we had a lovely meal at the local pub. The only downside is the very steep stairs.
-
"Spotless even salt and pepper pots coffee tea sugar and sachets of sauces Little things make a difference"
-
"Lovely relaxing cottage."
Supermarket just down the road and within good drivable distance. Kids loved it as there are several places to visit a short drive away.

"Glad we found cottage as last minute emaculate tea coffee biscuits and milk left ..."
Glad we found cottage as last minute emaculate tea coffee biscuits and milk left for us thankyou well equipped plenty to see & do felt homely
-
"A lovely little cottage, immaculately clean and with excellent facilities and a beautiful garden."
We very much appreciated the books left for us to read by the owner when she heard about our interest in the nearby railway line walking trail which we remembered from our childhood as a functioning railway. The only two drawbacks were that the staircase is exceptionally steep and a problem for one of us who has limited mobility, and the mattress on the single bed was not comfortable and needed a mattress topper! Otherwise we had a lovely holiday. Thank you very much.
-
"Very quiet, little cottage with lots of birds in the garden, well located near Blandford Forum for daily coffee and shopping."
The cottage itself is a bit tiny for tall Dutchmen, in particular the bed in the master bedroom with its raised foot end.
-
"A delightful cottage, well equipped, spotlessly clean with a lovely garden."
-
"Everything was spot on."
Only suggestion might be to have a visitors book for people to write comments on the local pub etc the pub was excellent would have liked to recommend it to others.
to Roy Thank you for your feedback I had a book in the cottage pre covid with your advice taken I will return a new. Book for the same June Dunn I Property Owner

-
"A lovely cottage, quiet & restful surroundings."
Very clean & everything you need. We loved the garden & enjoyed the nearby walks.

"This was our second holiday at Poppy Cottage , everything was fine ."
The only thing it lacks is a washing machine .
-
"Poppy cottage was a delight."
The instructions before arrival were clear and access was easy. The cottage was clean, homely and well equipped with washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea, coffee and milk. It was decorated well and was pretty on the inside and out. It is located in a great position to explore Dorset and we would highly recommend a stay here. A very enjoyable holiday and we hope to return in the future.
-
"What a lovely stay."
The cottage was super clean and very well equipped. Very thankful we had plenty of charcoal to keep warm when there was the power cut due to storm eunice.
-
"Hot water immersion heater came on regularly through the night and was noisey considering it was in a cupboard in the main bedroom."
Cannot understand why it came on so regularly when no water was being used. Seats at dining room table uncomfortable after a while, just wooden bases, would benefit from tie on cushions. WiFi would make a big difference to this cottage, looks like this maybe in hand. The house itself was lovely and comfortable everywhere else. Kitchen adequately equipped. Very quiet and peaceful, in a good position to explore Dorset. This house we would use again for more things in the area we would like to visit. Supermarket and fuel garage just down the road which was handy, a pub in village looked nice, but we did not use.
Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are currently in the process of sourcing seat pads for the dining room chairs. Wifi has now been installed at the property and we are in contact with a plumber for advice regarding the immersion heater. We're glad that you enjoyed the location and exploring the wonderful county of Dorset. Property Owner
-
"Lovely cottage in a superb location although thought it would be nearer the village."
Also missed the fact of no Wi Fi, which is being installed soon. Yes we had a lovely time not too far to Lulworth Cove and Dirdle Door and many other locations.
-
"Poppy cottage was perfect it had everything you needed it was super clean with a beautiful garden and very peaceful."
The location was perfect for visiting lots of places ,would love to visit again one day.
-
"The top of the dishwasher doesn't seem to wash propperly, even after 2 different cycles ."
The property could benefit from WiFi, especially as the smart TV could then be used to it's potential. In terms of summer bedding it would help to have top sheets or light blankets as the duvets were way too hot for the season. Otherwise it was a lovely property.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback which we have taken on board and purchased a new dishwasher. We are glad you enjoyed the property and would look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner
-
"We loved every moment of our stay in this beautiful clean and fresh little cottage."
If we had one gripe (and why the 4 star on facilities) it was that the mattress on the bed is too small for the frame. Pillows keep going down the back. Please change this and it’s just perfect. The owner is very helpful and always at the end of the phone. We can’t wait to return.
Thank you for your feedback and pleased to hear you enjoyed Poppy Cottage. The mattress has now been replaced with a brand new one. Look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner
-
"Fantastic little cottage, clean and had everything you need."
Stairs are really steep so you need to be careful. About 40 min walk into Blandford use cycle track instead of road. Easy driving distance to loads of beautiful places in Dorset. Supermarket 5 mins away. Poppy cottage is so relaxing dont hear any traffic noise just the birds singing in the garden. The only gripe we had was the bed wasn't very comfortable the mattress seems too small for bed frame. But it didn't spoil a great holiday would highly recommend Poppy Cottage.
Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Poppy Cottage. The owner has advised us that she is looking to replace the bed and will do this as soon as is possible. We very much hope to welcome you back to Poppy Cottage in the not-too-distant future. "Poppy Cottage was is lovely little cottage situated in Charlton Marshall."
It was the perfect base for exploring Dorset and the surrounding areas. The cottage itself is slightly smaller than it looked in the pictures but is the perfect space for 2 people and had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend and would stay here if travelling to Dorset in the future
-
"A lovely inviting cottage, warm and clean and utterly charming!"
-
"Poppy Cottage is a cosy and comfortable place to stay."
The surroundings are peaceful but close to amenities. We had a very enjoyable stay.
-
"Poppy Cottage is a small but very well equipped house with a large garden en good parking place (2 cars)."
We have had an excellent stay here and had a very good relation with the owner. My family (2 adults and two adolescent girls) did not want to leave because we felt really at home and accepted. It is very wel situated if you want to explore Dorset and the Jurassic Coast. Beaches, nature and (pre-)historic England are close by and if we want to eat out, there are a lot of very good and not expensive Inn's and restaurants. Charlton Marshall itself is a small village with not much to do but the nearby villages and cities have enough to offer. We are still sad we had to leave after two weeks.
-
"Really comfortable cosy cottage with good beds in a beautiful area for walking."
The open fire in the cool evenings was a plus point.
-
"Had a very enjoyable week, Poppy Cottage was good and comfortable."
However I found that the toilet did not flush properly. I mentioned this to the owner Jean before we left. Also the quilt in the single bedroom was not like the one that was on the double bed. It was lumpy, and did not provide for an adequate covering, and needs to be replaced. Overcame this problem by using the throw over on the 2nd night. Please note that this was not a major issue. Nevertheless, that aside, a nice comfortable cottage in a nice quiet location with all the home comforts and facilities. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. ***Owner Response*** We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Poppy Cottage. Thank you for your suggestions, we have now changed the single duvet and sorted the toilet flush out.
