  • "It was a lovely welcoming home with lovely local treats left for us."

We love Charmouth and its Fossell Beech and museum. The local facilities perfect. The house and garden with outdoor eating area was lovely. The bed and bedding was clean and comfortable. The lounge lovely with patio doors and nice dining room. We would come again. The negatives ŵere the hob - No instructions and time consuming, and not enough large cooking quiche type dishes. Regards Pamela.

  • "We loved the house."

It was very comfortable and well located for the beach, the local shops and pubs. The garden is big bonus. The plumbing could do with some maintenance as the bathroom sinks had great difficulty draining. The paintwork on the stairs is quite grubby and could do with a lick of paint. Equipment is very good and we appreciated the fans in the bedrooms. Overall and excellent holiday home. We'd love to visit again. ❤️

  • "The house was very clean and comfortable and there was a very nice welcome pack but the property needs a general 'spruce up'."

    - The banisters and skirting boards on the stairs need a lick of paint, - One of the bedrooms needs a lick of paint - The outside door needs a lick of paint - A number of the windows would not open - The shower over the bath in the upstairs bathroom leaked a lot - The toilet seats did not fit the toilets properly, they were a bit small and uncomfortable. - The door to the garden was very difficult to unlock - The garden furniture needs a good clean

  • "I had an issue half way through my stay."

Tried your local number, but it referred me to the Chester number. Phoned that, but it rang for 10 mins and I gave up. Sorted the issue. Had it been a true, true emergency I would have been stuck. Possible enough to put me off renting from you again.

  • "Slight issue with cleanliness - one toilet had poo in it."

The zip link bed that was supposed to be linked wasn't, it was a twin and downstaires shower head needs fixing properly. Other than that it was all fine. I've stayed in this house several times and probably will again. There was an issue with broken TV aerial, which once reported was fixed the same day. Prompt, friendly repair work. My gripe is with Sykes web page. They make it deliberately difficult to get that initial contact. When this was Lyme Bay company it was much easier and more personal service. Overall this is not a bad house to stay in, location is great there are just a few niggles creeping in since Sykes took over.

We are so sorry to hear that cleanliness standards were not met on this occasion. We still have the local office in Lyme with a team who are happy to attend to any maintenance or cleaning issues during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back again! The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Lack / poor maintenance internally , mainly around the windows."

Entrance porch would be better off with a mat filling the whole space especially due to the wet conditions.

  • "Great holiday and location, just a few niggles."

Like others have stated a little tired, not obvious at first. Outside light, where steps to patio are, not working can't use garden in evening in September. Wife used washing machine once and there is a slight leak from somewhere? Good job tiled floor underneath! TV was the most limited I,ve ever come across plus other places we have been with gaming consoles have separate TV. Garden furniture needs a tad of upkeep. Downstairs shower head holder has worn out, slides down and won't hold it up. Kitchen door when opened is fine from inside, but if closed can not come in from outside. Patio door stiff, a bit difficult for my petite wife to open. Would I stay again, hell yeah just like home only I don't pay over a grand a week for the privilege.

We have now attended and replaced the bulb to the external light and have contacted the owner regarding the showers. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable house."

We were 3 adults and 2 children so 2,bathrooms very useful. Kitchen well equipped and goodies bag very acceptable. House in easy reach of beach , cafe and pub plus short journey to Lyme . We would recommend to friends. ( Clothes airer would be handy).

  • "We had a great overall stay here - the location in Charmouth was fabulous and we enjoyed the spacious and clean accommodation with our 3 young children."

However, the house is very tired and doesn't match the pictures on the website, which were evidently taken a good number of years ago.

  • "Lots of maintenance and cleaning issues which should have been addressed prior to our stay."

    1. Leaking shower screen upstairs causing huge puddles 2. Downstairs shower head tied up with string 3 both shower heads need descaling as blocked and poor water flow 4. Loft hatch not secure and very dangerous as suddenly dropped down almost hitting someone on the head 5. Window safety catch broken in children's bedroom 6. Broken plug in upstairs bathroom 7. Dishwasher not draining and unusable 8. Huge amount of black mould on all windows 9. Garden furniture unusable as not been cleaned after the winter 10. Garden bench broken 11. Both toilets not clean on arrival 12. Food waste bin not been emptied for a long time and full of mould so we could not use it. All this long list is completely unacceptable and given how much we paid we are disappointed and would not return or recommend.
