  • "Nice property in a good location, could do with just a little bit of TLC, we found the double bed uncomfortable think it’s the mattress."

And the Hoover is a waste of time, The heating had stopped working but was back up and running in about two hours, with just a phone call and someone coming out (low water pressure) he said. There is no DVD player and the dishwasher was out of use

  • "Good property but held back from being excellent by some things which it would not be difficult to rectify."

Enjoyed the patio/garden area. Comfortable except for: Kettle - full of horrible limescale leaving white lumps in hot water poured from it - come on a new clean kettle is cheap enough. The shower is a joke! Situated in middle of bath whereas shower screen at end of bath it naturally aims in wrong directions to avoid landing onto floor or hitting back wall where it proceeds to drip through kitchen ceiling! As it is mains shower it has to be run for a few minutes before any heat obtained, wasting water, further water potentially dripping through ceiling. An electric power shower installed at head of bath would be a good investment of a modest sum. It would heat water quickly and aim water into bath itself rather than at floor/walls. It would be easy and cheap to operate and would help avoid the costly repair of kitchen ceiling that will eventually occur if current system is adhered to. I can see by other visitors comments that this shower has featured in many of them!

  • "This was the third time we have stayed at the cottage and we enjoyed our stay, as usual as it is very convenient for exploring this part of Dorset."

Two issues need looking at : 1. The bedroom tv couldn't be used as it refused to un-mute! ; 2. A bulb blew in the bedside lamp in the main room, and I found a spare in the cupboard but that didn't work.

  • "Cottage was exactly as I expected from the listing and is well located on the edge of a lovely village."

Spotlessly clean, well kitted out and lovely welcome pack, thank you. Only slight negatives with the cottage are that we found the double bed to be very low and not particularly comfortable, and the sofa was also not particularly comfortable. We also had chosen the cottage as it was close by two dog friendly pubs but found that the nearest pub (The George) was closed until March which was a bit disappointing (appreciating it's the off-season, however it was busy in the village as it's half term). Food at the other pub was lovely but again only open limited hours.

  • "I think that it would be helpful to explain that there is no recycling because the cottage is regarded as a commercial premises, as the lack of recycling facilities no doubt dismays many hirers, including us."

    We took ours home!

The rubbish is collected by Dorset Waste Partnership, whom, we are assured, sort the rubbish at their recycling centre to ensure as much as possible of the rubbish is recycled. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "As put in ‘Comments Book’, whilst this cottage overall was adequate and the location good for our visit, previous comments dating back to 2018 ; shower poor and needs replacing, small double bed, duvets etc."

had not been actioned, …. Disappointing. No information in folder ref recycling (it’s 2023!), BBQ grill needed replacing as unable to use. Three nights was enough.

it is a standard double bed with matching bedding. The shower works well if given time as it is connected to a combi boiler. The BBQ Grill is new and stored in the outside storage box, i presume you where looking at the coal rack in the BBQ. It is a shame you did not enjoy your stay , we aim to please, but you do not get 5* accommodation at 3* prices Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very comfortable but we did have s problem with the gas boiler and had to call for help."

Someone came very quickly and said it was fixed but sadly it wasn’t so a plumber was then called and said there was far too much pressure and drained water out of the radiator. Great we had hot water and heat again but better instructions as to how to set the timer and thermostat would have been a great help. The garden was secure apart from the gate for our terrier so for other owners of small dogs it would be helpful to have wire netting covering the gate. The cottage was very convenient for the village and the local shops were very friendly. The beach and the Heritage Centre were great for fossil hunters. Would definitely come again.

  • "A very well equipped property within easy walking distance of the beach and the pubs, cafe, shop etc."

it has a lovely little garden backing on to the river, unfortunately our weather was not very good so we couldn’t take advantage of it. Comfortable lounge & diner. A couple of suggestions, needs a new double bed, this was quite uncomfortable & a heated towel rail in the bathroom would be really useful.

  • "We were pleased the see the garden was dog secure and not as in the picture on line."

The cottage was well equipped, quiet and only 10 minutes walk from the beach. The only criticism is the double bed mattress was uncomfortable and the single bed duvets were too small and skimpy. My email query to the office did not receive a reply. I noticed in the cottage description a warning about the funfair close to the cottage from mid July to the end of August. I rang the office and they denied all knowledge of the funfair. This was being constructed during our stay and would be extremely noisy once working. We were glad to leave the day before it started.

  • "Shower still a problem with run off water causing kitchen ceiling problems."

Very dangerous exiting property - mirror needed on hedge opposite as blind corners and fast traffic from each direction an accident waiting to happen.

  • "Beautiful location only 5 minute walk from the beach."

Cottage is comfortable and has all that you need for your stay. Lovely little garden to the back to enjoy listening to the babbling stream and listening to the birds. Charmouth is a lovely village with all the amenities you require, shop, cafe, pubs etc. Would definitely stay again.
