"We had a lovely stay, cottage was clean, but not very cosy, a bit basic."
Comfortable bed, toilet seat in downstairs bathroom was broken, good location, lovely welcome pack.

"The boiler is a bit of a nightmare."
The controls are flimsy and instructions confusing. Lyme Bay holidays were excellent when we contacted them for help.
Thank You the Boiler has been replaced Property Owner

"It was Nice but basic, well positioned."
Shame the Boiler had a fault as we arrived at 02:00 in the morning we called Lyme bay and they had a maintenance mane there within the hour and had it fixed. We will come back again.

"The cottage was perfectly situated for our few days in Charmouth."
It had everything we needed and we so appreciated the lovely goody bag. We had a problem with the boiler when we arrived but it was fixed within an hour. The decor could do with some TLC. It is a good base for a family and we would happily stay again.
The Boiler has been replaced thank you Property Owner

"It is what it says on the tin."
Warm, comfortable cottage in a very pretty village.

"4 Riverside Cottage has a great location and is a good holiday let apart from on arrival we were short on kitchen equipment and the cottage flooring was dirty and infested with dead wood lice and spiders."
The carpets were also covered in black dog hairs. We contacted the letting agent on Sunday by email providing photos fully expecting a response on Monday. The office failed to call me so I telephoned again on Tuesday asking for the Housekeeping Manager but still no response. On Wednesday I spoke to the office to be told that the cleaners would visit that day. On return the floors were much cleaner apart from the pile of dead wood lice behind the tv cabinet. It was suggested that I should have reported the cleaning issues on arrival but we were busy with family until Sunday morning and I felt that the responsibility of checking cleanliness should not be the responsibility of the holidaymaker.
I AM DISGUSTED WITH THIS AND HAVE CHALLENGED MY AGENT OVER THE SERVICE THAT I PAY FOR The guest arrived on Friday afternoon, we were advised on Saturday morning that an additional dinner plate was needed to which we reacted immediately. We were not advised of any cleaning issues until Monday and we sent over a housekeeper to rectify the complaint. If we had been alerted to any cleanliness issues earlier then of course we would have been able to resolve this quicker. We do spot check the cleaning to ensure standards are consistent, on a rotational basis. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

"Perfect for our stay - myself, my daughter, 2 grand-daughters & 2 dogs."
Everything worked very well, plenty of cutlery, crockery & utensils (which can be rare in some self-catering homes!) The welcome bag was much appreciated. The only thing we weren't impressed with was the vacuum cleaner which "couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding" But that's being a bit picky! All in all, an excellent self catering cottage. Thanks.

"We had a wonderful week everything just as it should be."
thank you for the lovely welcome goodies.... what a great touch. you might like to check the plumbing of the washing machine as the pipe comes into outlet under sink too low and creates a sump for the waste water This gave off an awful smell when we first used it as it had been very hot weather probably didnt help. we cured it by putting a washing machine cleaner unit through! You could paint the radiator in the bathroom as it lets it down. Hooks on backs of doors upstairs???? PS the clothes drier doubles as a parasol on patio with a well placed towel. We went to the village film show and got a good welcome at the parish church. I was thrilled to find a fossil on charmouth beach on the first night.... the heritage centre said it was an Annomite 190 million years old So much to do in the area perfect centre. you can use any of my feedback if you wish I dont want to publish any negative stuff x

"Lovely surprisingly spacious well equipped cottage ideally located to walk to beach and amenities."
The negatives were; situated right on the road to Charmouth although it's supposed to be a 30 speed limit, traffic travelled alot faster and quite noisy in front bedroom at times. Garden gate does not seem secure for a pet friendly property, could do with a bolt instead. We became rather paranoid about the gate being shut properly. Fencing is rotten and just falling apart with quite large gaps, again needs to be secure and safe for dogs. When we arrived there was an issue with the boiler, no hot water, contacted Sykes Cottages out of hours number and shortly after a lovely gentleman arrived at cottage and fixed the problem, I believe the boiler had lost pressure. Welcome pack was a lovely gesture, we couldn't sample the freshly ground coffee at cottage as there was no coffee machine or cafetiere. Thank you for a lovely week, we loved Charmouth

"Everything was perfect."
I cannot advise you to be doing anything different. Very satisfied with the property, the welcome pack, the warmth and comfort and the great weekend we had trekking and fossil hunting on the cliffs and beaches. We hope to return in the future.
Thank you, please recommend to friends and family Property Owner

"We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, minor things, like the bed was very low, toilet flush was broken, but the house was very comfortable, paint needs a refresh , like anywhere even our own home."
The location was perfect for visiting the surrounding areas. Would definitely use it again.

"This is the second time we have stayed in this accommodation."
It’s s great location although everything was as listed it needs a bit of a make over and decoration it’s become very tired. the main thing it was clean and tidy but a little spruce up would make it first class.

"We arrived at the time stated for entry to the property, 4pm."
We were not expected and a lady was in the premises “cleaning”. She apologised and said she had not been notified of our booking and thought the property was vacant for the week. We had to wait over half an hour before being allowed in. The cleaning left something to be desired, there were dead insects on the window sills and the carpet looked grubby, there was dust in the bedroom. I think the property is in need of a deep clean, skirting boards, ceiling corners etc. We were visiting with a pet but were amazed to see the cottage being cleaned with two dogs in attendance in and out of the premises. There are no facilities for recycling, just the suggestion we travel to Bridport for the recycling centre, think this is a necessity. Only 2 bin bags provided, I do not think we should be expected to provide them. The TV needs updating, very few channels available on freeview, I know this is a minor thing but just thought I’d mention it. Admittedly we may have been spoilt by our previous stays at another property we’ve rented from yourselves, Bridgehouse apartment, which we couldn’t fault in any way. Regardless of these comments we enjoyed our stay, the property is in a good position, you need to inform prospective clients of the summer fair in the field opposite as some might not like the noise especially if they have young children. The kitchen is well equipped, and the size of the cottage is adequate for 5 people.

"Very good generally."
Welcome pack was very nice Could do with redecorating in some areas Some of the furnishings need refreshing- carpets and sofas Parking good and excellent location

"Double bed was far to low for my elderly auntie."
A dishwasher was listed but there wasn’t one. Parking a bit of a problem. Hoover was rubbish. The cottage is in a lovely location, and clean on arrival.

"Well equipped Cottage in good location."
Off road parking was very useful, except we were asked by a neighbour who banged on our door ( from either number 1or 2 ) to keep our car parked on the extreme of the parking space in order for a 5th unofficial unnumbered space by the wall to be kept clear. By parking here this resident made the parking very tight and blocked the entrance footpath. The cottage was not as clean as some we have stayed in recently and despite asking everyone to empty the bins no spare bin bags were provided. Some of the kitchenware and pans needed to be cleaned before they could be used. The bedding was off white in colour and looked very tired. The towels were good. The information regarding visiting the the Golden Cap estate in the information book was very useful. We had two telephone interactions with the Lyme Bay office using the telephone number provided and they were unhelpful on both occasions. This is a good property to stay at in a good location but could certainly be managed better by the letting agent.

"Cottage very nice, and equipped well."
Location great, but road busier than anticipated. Appreciate the off road parking, the extra bedding if needed, and the milk etc. Shower good. Lounge carpet had a lot of what i guess was dog hair, so not cleaned very well. Double bed very low, as i see a lot of other people have commented on - it would be nicer if this could be replaced. On the whole. we were pleased with our stay.
