  • "Had a fantastic holiday experience at Pippin."

..property was as described, very clean and in a great location. All furnishings, appliances, bedrooms etc were of the highest quality. Would definitely book again. A couple of minor issues, we could not find a pair of scissors or any oven gloves! If they were there they are not obvious....and though no fault of the owners, it could be such a lovely view from the balcony if it wasn't for the height of the neighbours trees obscuring the view! But, overall it is a lovely place...happy to recommend staying here.

  • "Spacious home, with large living area, three good sized bedrooms (and additional study (or “snug”), was perfect for of family holiday with three generations."

Good location, walking distance to the supermarket, pub, beaches and coastal walks, and bus services to Lyme Regis and Bridport. Lovely views from the balcony to the sea. Large kitchen, well equipped, great for family dinners. And very quiet! Driveway entrance is a bit tight, but adequately explained in the description, with space for two cars (we parked our third car up on the main road). Upon arrival, there were issues with the upstairs toilet, but the local property manager came around immediately once we’d reported it, to sort a temporary repair. He advised someone would be in first thing the following morning to complete the repairs (unfortunately, the issue was worse when we woke the next morning, and we called to advise this on the emergency phone). A plumber did arrive and do repairs in the morning, while we were out. When we discovered the toilet was still not working properly, we called the Sykes Cottages again, and the plumber returned within 5 minutes (!) and fixed the problem. He apologised, rectified the problem, explained what to do if any further issues. Excellent service. We were impressed with speed of the response, and the follow up by both the property manager, and the plumber. Everything was done so quickly. Would not hesitate in renting via Sykes again, as understand things can go wrong - and very happy with the service and response time.

  • "Everything about pippins was great, location, facilities and cleanliness, with two minor exceptions."

Firstly the heating is impossible to control and upstairs is always cold whilst downstairs roasted! That was overcome with the oil heaters and log burner so minor issue. Secondly, the WiFi has expired, so whilst we could connect easily, there was no internet.

We're glad that you enjoyed your holiday at Pippin. The WIFI router had been turned off and is all now working again. The Lyme Bay Holiday Team Property Owner

  • "Had a great week in Pippin."

Weather was mixed (including a storm) but the house was cosy, warm and well equipped. Plenty of room for 4 adults and an 8 year old. Only a 10 minute walk form the beach would definitely recommend

  • "This was our second time at Pippins, a lovely house for a holiday stay."

Light, warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen for serious cooking, and well placed in the village for beach and all facilities. We were disappointed that the shower trays still hadn’t been cleared out, meaning very quick showers before the water spilt all over the floor. There was another issue which Lyme Bay Holidays eventually dealt with, but unfortunately this meant I can only give it 4 stars.

  • "Positives - Great location for Charmouth facilities and beach."

Cottage tucked away from road and nice and quiet with parking. Well stocked for crockery etc in kitchen, furnishings were to a high standard, nice to have 3 proper sized bedrooms. Generous welcome pack on arrival. Negatives - both showers blocked - based on previous reviews we were disappointed it hadn't been sorted weeks later. Toilet flushes were temperamental leaving saniflows cycling on and off every 2 minutes. The lack of blinds in living room meant this room was stiflingly hot without the bifolds being open but then you get hornets in the house. Finally the cottage info folder had out of date (2019 tide times) and conflicting info (about recycling and bin days) and the second set of keys promised in the info book were no where to be seen.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear you had issues with the shower traps and toilet flushes, and have arranged for our team to take a look at this. We will also review the Welcome Folder information to ensure it is up to date. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "An extremely difficult place to find but once located a good spot between Bridport and Lyme Regis."

The narrow drive to the property would definitely put me off returning as it was barely wide enough for a family car. The property was reasonably clean and well equipped and the hamper was a nice touch. We only found one dishwasher tablet for our stay, two or three would have been better. Overall a good place to stay.

We have been adding What3Words references to travel directions to make it easier to locate properties. There should have been a box of dishwasher tablets for your use so apologies if this wasn't the case. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Lovely spacious cottage in quiet location but close to beach."

We had a happy week inspite of the weather. Thank you. A couple of minor points- there were no oven gloves, only one not very sharp knife and the en suite shower is coming away from the wall. Also outside tap not working- would be v useful after muddy fossil hunting!

  • "Such a brilliant place to stay."

It was the perfect location and so comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again. Photos don't do the living space justice- it was so gorgeous. A new shower head needed in en suite bathroom. Non stick frying pans for the kitchen would be great.

Thank you for your kind comments, we're so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. We will ask our maintenance team to check the shower head. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property, with a wonderful view, really enjoyed our stay and the kitchen, with its equipment, is the best we have stayed in."

Charmouth perfect for fossil hunting, especially after taking part in the guided walk. The only problem is the shower in the en-suite, which definitely needs a new head, water is going everywhere over your lovely bathroom.

  • "A fantastic house with superb facilities and location."

Overall experience slightly spoilt by booking agencies poor admin and shower drains being blocked which largely prevented them from being used. For the 2 night stay this was manageable but for any longer it would have been a larger issue. I would certainly stay again

  • "Pippin is absolutely beautiful and we had a lovely stay."

The location was perfect for a walk into Charmouth and a short drive to Lyme Regis. Getting through the arch to park was interesting but the instructions telling us to go down the road and turn into it from the left really helped. Would definately stay again and recommend to others

  • "We loved the property and had a really good time there."

Warm, very comfortable, and so sunny and light with a gorgeous view. Charmouth beach is so interesting. The village facilities, and local farm shops meant supplies were easily accessible.. Walking to Lyme Regis along the beach at very low tide (and back on the coast path) was so enjoyable we did it twice. Just a few things we noticed about the house: It was very dark in the kitchen . -Cooker hood lights had both gone, we found bulbs and managed to fit them but it’s still dark especially over the sink. -The shower tray in the bathroom filled whilst showering. -Dishwasher filter had not been cleaned for ages. -Bins: bit confusing re info on recycling and we weren’t sure we were doing it right.

It's great to hear that you walked along the coast at low tide - it's quite fascinating what you uncover amongst the rocks. Thank you for the feedback, we will attend to those issues. We collect the rubbish ourselves from the property as the local council can't facilitate it. We will review our instructions! The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

The cooking facilities were great with good laundry facilities too. We enjoyed the wonderful view from the balcony where we sat and watched the sun go down. The situation of the cottage is within easy access to town for meal and drinks out or fabulous fish and chips after a lovely evening stroll. The beach is within easy walking distance. We would be happy to book again.

  • "We the Kurtevs family could not have had a better time at the villa, absolutely loved it and once more we thank you."

Our stay at Pippin was magical beyond all expectations. The villa was very clean and simply beautiful, it was just like home. We spent a few days back in 2020 with our then 6 months old boy and we loved it. The rooms were so well lit by the natural light coming in and the wood burner made our stay very special, proper idyllic young family time. We enjoyed great walks near the coast, only a few minutes away and the local community was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this villa.
