• "Outstanding property in a good location."

  Owners attention to detail is impeccable, and obviously lots of thought put into the design and finishing touches. The Christmas decorations, card and welcome pack were an extra special bonus. Look forward to returning in the near future.

• "Having had many years of self catering holidays, some bad, some "par excellence", this place would rate near the top."

  However, there are a couple of points that I feel need raising. The first was the absence of any kind of hello/greeting from the owners - a few seconds just to say welcome/hello would go a long way. This accommodation is meant for 4 people - the two chairs and the bench provided around the dining table badly need replacing with something comfortable and easy on the "backside" !! Finally, a couple of shower mats would be welcome - the floors in both showers are very slippery when wet. I am a 76 year old with bad hips and knees and had to be extremely careful in the shower not to slip. "Nuff said !!

  Thank you Tim for your very honest review. We appreciate all feedback, both positive and not so positive, as we are continually looking for ways to improve the comfort of our guests. We have taken all of your comments on board, and there will now be additional seating pads available in the properties that guests can use within the dining area should they choose to. We do currently have non slip shower mats available upon request, however we will now ensure that these are readily available within the barns themselves. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Lime Tree Barn being located on a working dairy farm, it is not always possible for us to greet our guests upon arrival or meet everyone during their stay. My contact details are readily available within the welcome pack however, should there be any questions or queries, and I always endeavour to make myself available should any issues arrive. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the many guests that we have been lucky enough to do so over the last two years, and we apologise that we did not get an opportunity to meet you in person this time. • "A beautiful property which is finished & furnished to a very high standard in a Skandi style."

  I can honestly say this is the cleanest holiday home we have ever rented. The attention to detail is second to none both inside and out. Very comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton linens. Large well fitted bathroom on the ground floor. Well designed and fitted kitchen. The upstairs bedroom is very large with a nice en-suite shower room. The garden is very simple with tiled patios front & rear, modern garden furniture & bbq. You are visited regularly by a robotic lawnmower which keeps the grass short and well tended without the intrusion of a gardener. The only down side to that is that the lower part of the fencing is open for for mower to access which meant the farm dog came visiting a couple of times during our week long stay. This was not a problem for us as we had not taken our two on this occasion but could be for those who are allergic or do not like dogs. The only negative for us (a party of 4 in our 70's) was the seating at the dining table. Two very stylish but uncomfortable dining chairs and one wooden bench which despite a cover was not conducive to comfortable dining.

• "We arrived to a beautifully furnished and prepared house."

  It was such a relaxing stay and we loved having the fields around us. Supermarket within a couple of miles and a petrol station right on main road out. This has been one of our favourite properties and we definitely would stay again. First class.

• "A clean and well-maintained cottage."

  We found it very comfortable and fully equipped with every item one could reasonably wish to find in a holiday cottage. The owner, Fred, made us most welcome and allowed the children together with me and my daughter to "visit" his cows. He also allowed the children to have use of the (toy) dumper truck and trailer whilst we were there. My partner and I will certainly visit again, as will my daughter, since its location is so convenient for Stourhead and The Newt.

• "We have just returned home from a fabulous week at Basswood barn, a fabulous minimalist/Scandi conversion that has everything you could need whilst on holiday."

  A lovely approach to the cottages through two fields of the most magnificent cows, no seriously! Located in Wincanton it is the perfect location for travelling around the many local historical sights. couldn't recommend it highly enough.

• "The property is very well equipped is modern light and airy, any queries were dealt with promptly."

  The property is ideally located for exploring the area in any direction with plenty to do without going too far. I personally would have preferred to look out onto the hedge not the fence.

• "We have stayed in a lot of Sykes rentals over the years an this is easily the best we have stayed in."

  The facilities are 5* + very modern well equipped with excellent quality bedding towels ect. Lovely seating area outside in a lovely patio area and lawns maintained by Rodney lol the robot. Even though this is situated on a working farm there is absolutely no noise or sense of work going on. Will definitely return and recommend Basswood Barn to all Kyra & Raymond and of coarse Heidi woof woof

• "We had a really lovely 3 night break at Basswood Barn."

  We couldn’t fault anything about it. An ideal base from which to explore the local area. We visited Stourhead House and Gardens, Lytes Carey Manor, Tintinhull Gardens, and Wells. All very lovely. Basswood is a beautiful barn conversion done very tastefully and to a very high standard. The mattress in the downstairs bedroom was the most comfortable I have slept in; so much so that I’ve asked the owners where I can buy one! We were incredibly lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy time relaxing in the garden, which is an absolute sun trap. 5* all round.

• "Immaculate accommodation."

  Spacious, light and beautifully presented. Fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality. Every detail has been thought about. Fred was always helpful and friendly making himself available even when he was busy on the farm. All requests and queries prior to our stay were quickly answered and in place for our arrival. One of the best self catering places we’ve stayed in.

• "Basswood Barn is wonderful!"

  It is extremely clean and well-maintained. The kitchen has everything you could need for preparing meals. There was a small issue with the blinds, but Fred sorted it very quickly, and checked that everything was working well. The outside area is welcoming, however the weather did prevent us from utilising it. Our teenage son mentioned the WiFi is extremely good, better than we have at home apparently! The location is great too. Easy to travel to Stonehenge, Longleat, Weymouth. Shops and fast food outlets are about one mile away, so easy to shop and have a takeaway. We would definitely recommend Basswood Barn.

• "Cottage was absolutely gorgeous."

  Even bigger and better than the photos. Back fence has a large gap at the bottom I assume for the robot mower so I messaged the owners asking if they had any chicken wire or netting to stop the dog getting out and the next day they had put a temporary fence up. Would definitely recommend.

You'll be pleased to know, both Basswood and Linden can now be fully dog proofed with tempory boarding which can easily be erected and dismantled to allow the mower to do his job, whilst creating a safe place for your dog to roam. • "Just superb!"

  It was a privilege to stay in Basswood. The attention to detail is incredible. This is, without a doubt, the best property I've ever stayed in. The kitchen contained every utensil you could possibly think of. The living room was even more spacious than it appears in the photos. The bathrooms were immaculate. The welcome hamper was filled with local treats, including cheese made using milk from the farm.

• "Absolutely fantastic barn conversion."

  Everything we could want/think of was supplied, even things we'd never had in a holiday let before (the 'boot box' was brilliant!). Can't recommend Lime Tree Barn highly enough, definitely would return.

• "An amazing property, no expense spared."

  Everything you need in the kitchen and more. Bathrooms were gorgeous and the beds very comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Lovely welcome pack. Great base to visit local attractions and NT houses. We have used Sykes 25+ times and this has to be in the top 3 for quality and price. Brilliant.

• "This was a luxurious let, one of three in Limetree Barn."

  It was extremely well appointed and the master bedroom has a very comfortable en suite. The open plan living space was larger than we expected; airy, light and calm. The kitchen was well equipped. We drive an EV and we were reassured to find that each of the lets had its own charger which you pay for separately using the Energy Park app.

• "What an absolutely luxurious stay we had at Basswood."
