  • "Everything we needed with excellent facilities and comfortable surroundings, furniture and beds."

    Bedding had to be requested despite it being an 8 person booking and previous email requesting the truckle bed was made up. Arrived promptly when requested via your call centre. Cleaning could be better. The kitchen floor needs a deep clean/mop and the truckle bed needed a deep clean and hoover before my guest could use it. Very tidy and neat but cleanliness was a bit superficial. Other than that it was a great stay in a nice house with excellent facilities (although the audio/video setup was a bit baffling for an old bloke like me

The property

Located on the Officer’s Field, a beautiful residential development which originally housed 2012 Olympic sailing event’s international team, Osprey House is situated on the edge of the Isle of Portland on the World Heritage coast in Dorset.

With a generous open plan layout, Osprey House is perfect for guests to enjoy cooking, eating and relaxing together.

In the summer you can open the patio doors and enjoy the enclosed patio and lawned garden, in the winter cosy up and chat in the bright spacious and light lounge on the first floor which has large windows overlooking the Chesil bank in the distance.

On the second floor you will find the master bedroom with its touch of luxury with a patio terrace and an en-suite shower room. The secluded and clear waters of Chesil Cove, ideal for snorkelling, scuba diving, rock pools, fishing or sunbathing are just minutes away, Other favoured local pursuits on and around Portland include rambling (the flora and fauna are a nature lover's delight), sailing, scuba diving, fishing climbing, windsurfing and bird watching.

Portland is popular with birders and twitchers alike for observing rare migrating birds.

Just minutes away by car is the main seaside town of Weymouth where you will find Weymouth's famous award-winning sandy beach and the charm of the Georgian seafront amongst other family attractions including the Sealife Centre, parks and cinema.

If you prefer to leave the car at home, there is a frequent local bus service with bus stop being close to the property.

Weymouth 5 miles.

Situated on Dorset's spectacular Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site, the village of Fortuneswell can be found on the rugged Isle of Portland peninsula, joined to the mainland via Chesil Beach, a pebble spit, which stretches 18 miles towards West Bay. Formerly a quarrying area, Fortuneswell boasts a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, along with an intriguing maze of streets that wind their way up a steep hill to offer stunning views of the Jurassic Coast and the rolling hills of Dorset beyond. The surrounding countryside is well known as a birdwatcher’s paradise, plus with great walking and climbing opportunities, an array of watersport activities, wonderful sandy beaches, and Weymouth just 5 miles away, this super holiday destination is not to be missed!
