It was very comfortable and cosy and easy to manage. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We loved it being the most “rules free” property we’ve stayed in, although hopefully we adhered to anyvthere might have been with rubbish, leaving the cottage in good order etc. we would certainly return if we still have a car!

  • "The cottage is in a fabulous location to visit a lot of places, including National Trust ones."

It is very easy to find and has good parking. There are a lot of shops, farm shops and lovely pubs in the locality. The views from the cottage are beautiful. The cottage is comfortable, very clean and the kitchen is well stocked with equipment/ utensils. We loved the charming William Morris decor which fitted the cottage perfectly. Highly recommend.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our week here, the annex was just like the photos."

The owners were very welcoming. The bed was huge and so comfortable with high quality bedding. The only negative (and we're nit-picking here) was the lack of footrest for the sofa, but that won't put us off highly recommending the annex , it's a lovely place in a fantastic area.

  • "A lovely farmhouse, nicely decorated, in a beautiful setting, perfectly situated."

However, definitely not suitable for elderly or infirm couples as on the 1st floor & accessed via a very steep, narrow staircase. Also quite noisy as the owner's accommodation is attached as is the housing for a boiler which kicks in about 5.00am. The shared entrance hall is busy. The kitchen is tiny but well stocked. The bedroom is large & lovely with a very comfortable bed. Nice shower room.

  • "Clean accommodation in a central location."

Easy to get about whether you want to visit National Trust/English Heritage properties, local towns or just go walking. As shown in the photographs the living/kitchen area is very small and accommodation accessed by very steep stairs off a shared access hall which forms part of the farmhouse so is in constant use. Private parking with plenty of space to park. Soft garden chairs are available for use in a grassed area at the front of the farmhouse.

  • "This is our second visit to Lower Farm Annexe and hopefully will not be our last."

We received a very warm welcome from Jane and David. The accommodation, although not large is very comfortable and welcoming. It had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Lots of places to visit in the surrounding area, although a little more difficult at present due to Covid restrictions as some places had to be pre-booked.

  • "Jane and David were excellent hosts, nothing was to much trouble."

We were very disappointed with the kitchen area. My wife loves to cook and was frustrated by being self catering and not being able to cook much other than breakfast. The stairs up to the annex were quite steep and there was no outside seating were we could enjoy the fabulous weather on as evening with a glass of wine. We were greeted with homemade bread, jam and milk. The annex was spotlessly clean and the bedroom very comfortable and an excellent shower room. What a shame that we would possibly not return.

Access to the property is a little tricky but it has a lot of old world charm and comfort. The kitchen is small for two people to work in together but has everything needed for a stay. Overall the property is just right for a couple who are wanting to be out exploring for most of the time and needing a comfortable base. Thank you for having us.

  • "We have enjoyed a very relaxing few days away at Lower Farm."

The property is quirky and full of character , very clean , comfortable and in a great location for visiting Wells, Glastonbury and the beautiful nature reserves in the area. The entrance hall has a great log burner to greet you and a drying room for muddy boots , and the apartment had everything we needed ( including a hairdryer). The kitchen is small but very well equipped and we ended up cooking in every evening although there are plenty of local pubs to eat at as well . There is a well stocked Co-op in Somerton just down the road which did us fine. The bedroom is spacious with a really comfortable bed , and we appreciated the nice big white towels in the bathroom. Jane is a lovely host - warmly welcoming and helpful without being in the least bit intrusive . All in all this is a lovely place for a relaxing get away , and we hope to go back at some point.

  • "Jane & David really made us feel very welcome indeed."

On arrival we found a welcome pack consisting of homemade bread (very tasty), milk, butter and jam, plus tea/coffee/ sugar etc - all of which we enjoyed. The accommodation was really lovely and comfortable with traditional furnishings. The location was ideal for visiting numerous National Trust properties (Lytes Cary, Barrington Court, Montacute, Tintinhull etc.) We also visited the City of Wells with it's beautiful Cathedral and the Bishops Palace Gardens which were still full of colour and very tranquil. The small town of Somerton just 3 miles away is also worth a visit. The weather was perfect too and we couldn't have asked for better. We headed for home at the end of the week with loads of things we still wanted to do and so we hope to return again in the not too distant future - and perhaps again after that!.

Although well past the official retirement age we managed the access stairs comfortably and once inside it does not disappoint: bright, cosy, well equipped, and we looked forward to returning at the end of each day. Jane was very welcoming and offered to carry luggage up and down the stairs if requested. Her home made plum jam is pretty good as well! We were not able to use the many of the walking and cycling trails in this part of the world but as a base for visiting the many attractions within driving distance suited us perfectly. Lovely!!

  • "A lovely cottage come first floor apartment in an historic farm building."

Jane and David were most hospitable hosts in the main building and the rural atmosphere was enhanced by the bringing in of the summer harvest, yet it was close enough to walk to the excellent local at Keinton Mandeville. We cycled to the clutch of three National Trust properties nearby, but the south Somerset cycling in general could have occupied us fully on its own. This was an ideal retreat for a couple and whilst we have stayed in quite a few from Yorkshire to South Dorset, this has to rank as one of our favourites.

Thank you for your feedback, you were very pleasant guests to have stay with us and your comments are much appreciated. Property Owner
