  • "It was a lovely house which suited us with 4 adults and two children."

Unfortunately the pressure in the boiler was zero. We called out maintenance who attended promptly but unfortunately the heating system needs an overhaul as we had to re pressurise it each time we needed heating. Other than that PERFECT

Thank you for the positive feedback. And I’m sorry you had to re pressurise each time. The maintenance team did offer to fix the issue but we were told you had asked not to complete this during your stay (which is also understandable), and as such the works are being completed this week. • "We loved our stay at High Cliff Cottage!"

The house was beautiful, decorated in a style we loved, impeccably clean, with spectacular views. A wonderful place to stay.

  • "Overall our stay was enjoyable."

However, a few things were an inconvenience. The bathroom sink tap started leaking on our first night & flooded the bathroom during the night. A Sykes Cottages rep came out to answer our call & turned the water to the tap off, meaning that we could only use the bath taps for the rest of our stay. We couldn't get the oven to work. In spite of Googling instructions & following them, the oven would not come on. Subsequently, food we took with us to cook, travelled back home & we had to go out to eat. Not one of us could open the conservatory door. The weather was hot and it became too warm to sit in there & enjoy the garden. Nothing too bad, but put together it affected our overall view of the place and made us feel that it was overpriced.

  • "The property provided a comfortable, well-equipped stay for our holiday, with fantastic views of Lyme Bay towards Golden Cap from the dining/kitchen, conservatoy and garden."

It is up a steep hill, but if you're staying in Lyme Regis, where isn't!

  • "The property is lovely, comfortable and very well equipped (though it could do with a BBQ and a freezer)."

We really appreciated the speed with which the local Lyme Bay holidays team addressed the issues with the en suite door and the shower in the main bathroom (wobbly loo seats remained outstanding). The only downsides from our perspective was the location and the levels on the outside space. I know this is down to the lay of the land so can't be helped, but the steps in/out of the property and around the garden are huge and the listing really should state this so that customers know it's not very elderly or child friendly before they book. The fact that there is no pavement on the road should also be mentioned as this makes walking to and from the town a health and safety risk for young and old as road users are not very pedestrian friendly! The listing also states that it’s ~0.5 m from shops, which is likely true BUT it doesn't mention that the walk to and from those shops involves an extremely steep hill, so again if your party contains young or old members be prepared to be driving back & forth into town to drop off or pick up as walking up the hill is likely not an option! Finally, again I know there is nothing you can do about this but the house is very close to a noisy road, and the noise is very invasive if you're not used to living by a road. The master bedroom faces the road and its very noisy with the window open when the traffic starts from 6am so again I think this is something potential customers need to know. In summary - it is a lovely property, well laid out, decorated and equipped but on balance I would only recommend for fit or able adults only, not for older customers or families with small children.

Views of the sea & small enclosed garden for the dog. Lots of fossils too.

  • "We had a lovely stay, the house was great for 6 adults (just be aware in advance that there is only parking for 2 cars)."

We enjoy cooking & eating together so were a bit disappointed with the lack of decent sized pans, plus a garlic crusher & larger tea pot would be welcome additions. There were no recycling boxes for bottles or food waste which would have been helpful.

A very spacious property. A few minor things. Not sure if the en-suite shower is leaking. As there is a stain on ceiling in lounge below shower room Would of liked a larger range of saucepans (no large pan) or steamers to put on top of saucepans, otherwise very a well equipped kitchen A top baby gate We all really enjoyed our stay Thank you

  • "The property needs a tumble dryer, as otherwise it’s hard, if not impossible, to dry towels and wet clothing for the next day at the beach."

It’s really essential for a seaside property. Also, just one larger fridge/freezer would be desirable as the current two have limited space. And a large saucepan for pasta cooking. Overall, a lovely modern property with a fantastic view of the coast across to Golden Cap.

  • "An outside light in the garden over the steps is needed, quite dodgy at night letting the dog out for a wee, also some of the steps need re-pointing they were a bit wobbly, the door of the conservatory needs fixing only opens one side, also no tumble dryer there should have been a clothes line to dry clothes!"

otherwise very nice cottage in a good position.

We are glad you enjoyed you break in our cottage. Thank you for your feedback - we have asked our handy man to rectify the points raised. Unfortunately one of the sliding doors in the conservatory can not be repaired, but access in and out of this area is not impaired. he washing line that was recently damage Property Owner

A large sitting room with wooden flooring and homely seaside themed décor welcomes you to relax before planning the day ahead of you, with quirky sofas in bright blue, or there is the option of a smaller snug in the conservatory where you can read a book and relax whilst enjoying the sunshine.

When mealtimes call, a large kitchen/diner with full-length sliding doors and tiled floors creates a contemporary space, with plenty of workspace to make cooking social and with a view to the garden, all guests can enjoy a heart-warming meal here.

Take a soak amongst the bubbles in the large bathroom before getting cosy for the night in one of the three bedrooms available; three king-size bedrooms with separate accent colours of pink and blue, one of which can be set up as a twin bedroom on request and all have great storage for guests and wooden flooring.

Outside you will find a lovely gravel sitting area accessible through the snug, where you can enjoy breakfast outside as your four-legged friend reclines on the grass amongst the shrubs and trees.

The local area of Lyme Regis is simply fantastic, with a huge array of beaches at your disposal, beginning with a walk through the picturesque Cobb Harbour and Lyme Regis Beach, where you can marvel at beautiful boats bobbing in the harbour before heading down to Monmouth Beach and Lyme Regis Fossil Beach where you can enjoy the seaside views along the rocky shores and towering cliffs, trying out watersports or fossil hunting as you go.

The town centre also offers two museums, Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium and ornamental gardens for you to enjoy at your leisure, or you can head further afield to local historical sites such as Cannington Viaduct.

Many eateries and small shops can be found within the town centre so why not check out the local art and produce before ending the day in a pub with a glass of your favourite beverage?
