  • "Great location and generally well equipped and maintained, although the bathroom could do with an upgrade."

We were particularly impressed with the bed linen. The Beachhut is small but very comfortable for two. We had some problems with the TV, but phoned Sykes who sorted it out.

  • "The one thing I can fault for the beach hut is there is no microwave which tends to have reverse effect of saving costs because you have to put the oven on to cook something that would take 3 minutes in a Microwave WHY?"

? Also the parking spot could do with trimming back you have difficulty getting out of the car without walking into grass and bushes. Parking has you know is very limited and the need to park as close as possible to the side is a must Thank you

  • "Perfectly placed with everything close at hand."

Lovely welcome pack and overall clean. We had a wonderful time. Grandchildren loved it!….However a few things need attention; there was various patches of black mould in shower around edges at the sealant. More importantly when using the shower the water did not drain away. Very slow and needs unblocking. My grandchildren had to stand in the dirty water coming back up from the drain during a ‘quick shower’ only. Needs sorting as could be a health issue. I did explain to the cleaner who said it’s a continuous problem because of drains on site that council need to sort. So needs sorting or at least use of a drain unblocker! Afterall we are paying for good useable facilities during our stay and could only have brief showers as risk of shower tray overflowing. The skirting board and wall by the doors behind the curtain in lounge/kitchen area showing signs of water damage with black staining and cracked paintwork . Furniture needs refreshing/updating ; tv unit and kitchen table look shabby with damage to tops. Right hand door to double doors on lounge area needs attention gets stuck and cannot be opened easily signs of rust on bottom of door. Other chalets nearby have been updated and do make this one stand out as needing refurb. Including smartening up outside. Once these areas are attended too will be perfect!

  • "Thank you for a wonderful, impromptu break - my daughter and I had such a relaxing four night stay."

The Beach Hut was perfect for us and had everything we needed. The thoughtful welcome gift (including milk in the fridge) was a lovely surprise, as we had travelled by train and not wanted to carry more than essentials! Nestled between the two very different beaches, the location was beautiful (although those who are less mobile might find the steps /slope a challenge if on foot). We could easily have extended our stay and spent much longer exploring the surrounding coastline. We would definitely recommend this property to others and would love to return.

  • "We love staying in the chalets next to Monmouth Beach."

The location is fantastic. This is the first time that we’ve stayed in The Beach Hut and we would be happy to return. The chalet was bright and airy and well equipped. The are some relatively minor improvements that we would suggest: 1. The pillows were too firm for all 3 of us. In the end we had to borrow some from our friend who has a neighbouring chalet. 2. There was nowhere to store clothes in the master bedroom. There is no chest of drawers and only child-size coat hangers were provided for the clothes rail. I ended up having to share the chest of drawers in the single bedroom with my daughter and my husband had to live out of his suitcase for a week. 3. There is no outdoor tap to rinse sandy beachwear. All of the other chalets that we have stayed in have had this and it’s essential. Without it the shower ends up full of sand.

It is comfortable, reasonably well equipped and in good condition. A refresh is about due when compared to other similar properties in a similar price bracket. Overall a great break.

  • "We were very happy with this lovely holiday let."

From previous comments we wondered about the view, but it was amazing. As I’m not well we were not out and about all the time, so to have that view was fabulous. We had a problem with the TV but the guy who came to sort it out was really good, he saw the instructions had something missing so went through it several times so that he was sure we knew what to do. The chalet more than lived up to our expectations, and being able to park outside was the Icing on the cake. Well equipped, good beds with top rate pillows and duvets, Highly recommended.

  • "The Beach Hut was exactly what we’d hoped for."

Location is perfect. Was lovely and quiet. Not sure which spot was the ‘1 parking space’ - sometimes another car would be parked directly left of cabin so we had to park as close as we could to front of cabin which only worked as I have a mini!! Would have been helpful to know where we should park. The shower dripped badly, which wasn’t a problem for us and we did by let the office know - probably just a new washer. TV instructions were spot on/ very helpful. We had a very lovely stay there and would definitely book again. Have already recommended to friends.

The water often went off completely but only for a short while thankfully. We were supposed to put our rubbish in a black bin but it wasn't there and there were no other instructions at all. It would have been nice to have a microwave. There is room for one. Susan and Gary

  • "Our fourth stay in the Beach hut."

Comfortable accommodation in a great location and a parking space as well. Unfortunately the cleanliness and condition of the settee and chair left a lot to be desired. Threadbare arm protector and stained seats were not expected. The sofa and chair are apparently due to be replaced at the end of the season, why wait till then??? If there's a problem now, fix it now. After a few calls and emails we negotiated a discount off the weeks rental as a goodwill gesture, but this really shouldn't have been necessary as the property should be maintained to a high standard.

We did contact the owner during your stay to pass on your concerns about the sofa. She did check the property after your departure and informed us that she could not locate any stains on the sofa. We hope you enjoyed your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "This holiday home was brilliant for the beach, the town, walking but above all for relaxing."

The interior is so in keeping with the setting and the views are amazing. Although the boat workshop is opposite, the beach and the Cobb can be seen on both sides and from the beach hut. The cooking facilities were good and we had every thing we needed. Having parking in Lyme was a real advantage. We have had a brilliant week and would recommend this accommodation to a couple or small family. Would definitely come again.

Thank you for your honest & realistic feedback. I really appreciate it. The views are wonderful, we are so lucky. Hopefully see you again next year! (We have bought a new sofa but cannot replace it until the end of the season. Sadly guests sit on it with wet towels & swimwear which leaves it stained. During a changeover I am unable to upholstery clean the furniture. I do not have enough time sadly. The hob is dated but always cleaned to a very high standard.) Property Owner

  • "I booked the Beach Hut in Lyme Regis for myself and my 81yr old mother (who has some mobility issues) as it stated it had amazing sea views."

Check in was pretty awkward as keys needed to be collected from a different location which was tricky to find despite a very detailed explanation from the owner. It also had little parking so took some time to collect the keys. The chalet itself was immaculately clean and very tastefully decorated and we really appreciated the welcome note, wine & flowers left by the owner. That said the sofa & armchair & hob are looking pretty tired and probably need to be replaced. A microwave would also have been a helpful addition to the kitchen. The view was the main reason for booking due to mums mobility issues and although they were spectacular if you looked left or right, it was really disappointing that the frontal view of the sea was blocked by the roof of the boat building school. The description did say the chalet was behind the school but ommited to explain that it blocked the view. Mum was very disappointed about this which made some of the week very tricky. Perhaps a more clear & honest picture of the view would be fair. There was a picnic bench outside for our use which again looked onto the roof of the boat school instead of sea views and was often occupied by the neighbouring guest who said he sat there to use the beach huts wi-fi. For the reasons given I believe the beach hut to be a quite overpriced. Cannot fault the area though. Lyme Regis was brilliant. Beautiful beach front, eateries & gardens.

The Beach Hut is maintained to a good standard by the owner, and provides a personal welcome hamper. The website does not state the chalet as having sea views, but there are some spectacular views from the chalet and picnic bench. It's unfortunate to hear that a neighbour took to using the picnic bench, this is not something we are aware of, and certainly wouldn't agree to. We hope you enjoyed your time in Lyme Regis. • "We found this beach hut to be very cosy and was almost completely comfortable."

The beds were lovely and comfortable, the décor was fun and costal. TV and WiFi worked perfectly, the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. A lovely touch was the arrival gifts left for us. Thank you for those gifts. The hut was clean and well presented. The off road parking was very useful, especially during the very busy days. The only observations I would have about the beach hut. We found the sofa and chair to be not very comfortable and we like to cook meals when away. But it was found to be difficult with the dated appliances. The smoke alarms were annoying as any time the oven was opened they both went off. In the living area it got painful to the ears. I understand these are a requirement, but maybe a relocation of the alarms would resolve this. Overall a very nice stay. Sadly the weather wasn't kind to us.

Thank you for your feedback. You are the first people who have mentioned the sofa and chair being uncomfortable, I'm sorry they weren't good for you. We cannot change the smoke alarms, they are a legal requirement. We have a hob, grill and oven. Sorry this was not enough for you to cook your meals. Property Owner

We were there mid autumn and the weather was against us. However we were there for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would like to see improved, which I totally understand is out of the owners hands, is better lighting around the site. Superb property otherwise. Many thanks.

Thank you for your response. So pleased you had an enjoyable stay. The lighting is the responsibility of Lyme Regis Town Council, sadly we have no control over it, sorry. Hopefully see you again next year. Property Owner

  • "Very nice stylish holiday property in a poor location, the only outside space being a pic-nic table on a thin strip of land overlooking the very worn out rear of the boat builders."

As a holiday let we thought a microwave was an essential item, if not possible then a more up to date hob. The bedroom does to most people require privacy, and being told that the new blinds had to be left open during the day is not ideal, however if this property could be nearer to the bowling green , where we have stayed many times, it would be perfect!

Thank you for your review. The Beach Hut has panoramic views of the amazing Jurassic Coast, sea views from East to West, I am sorry that this location was poor for you. The space is very limited in the kitchen, a microwave would take up a significant proportion of this. We ask guests to not close the blinds completely during the day, feel free to shut them but please leave a small gap, otherwise condensation builds up. Property Owner

It was very comfortable with lovely views, clean and pleasant and well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. I would like to see it painted (probably white) on the outside but my son did not agree - he liked it just as it is! There were several little extras kindly left for us which we greatly appreciated. Would have loved a microwave, but hey ho! That’s probably asking a bit much as quite honestly we managed very well with what we had. Loved the moon daises on the grass opposite! Would come again.
