"Property well located."
Lovely walks along Colwell Bay and lucky to see some amazing sunsets - well worth a walk to beach after 9.00pm. Couldn't use garden furniture at property as requires a very good clean - no shade in garden so useful to have a garden umbrella. Freshwater Bay and Yarmouth areas seem best part of the island. TV at property has limited channels for some reason - no BBC2 or Channel 4. Property in a nice quiet residential area and easy walk to shops in Freshwater. Garden at rear needs some TLC to make it more enjoyable.
Dear Brian Mcgeown. Firstly I am glad you enjoyed your stay and location so close to the beach. Thank you for your feedback regarding the garden furniture and the absence of a sun umbrella. I apologise for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay. Regarding the sun umbrella I will of course purchase one for the convenience of others. Half of the garden is shaded most of the day, which offers a comfortable spot to relax. Additionally, there are cushions for the outdoor furniture available in the conservatory to enhance your comfort. Our gardener mows the grass at least every other week. Please be aware that the weather can sometimes affect the cleanliness of our outdoor furniture. If you find that the outdoor tables do not meet your standards of cleanliness, please feel free to wipe them down as needed with the cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink. Our property includes a lovely conservatory. This space provides a comfortable and relaxing environment for those who prefer to avoid direct sunlight while still enjoying the scenic views of our garden. Our TV channels are supplied through Freesat, which includes a wide range of standard channels, including BBC and many other channels. Please make sure the TV Guide is showing freesat in top right hand corner. If experience problems with the BBC channel, we recommend trying the BBC iPlayer, which streams live channels and can be accessed directly from the TV. Close to Colewell Bay for beach walks and sunset. Owners let us in earlier which was great. On the whole a great little place for a relaxing holiday.

The description on your site was accurate and clear. It was comfortable, warm when we arrived, well equipped and very clean for the four of us. This was our first visit to the Isle of Wight at the age of 83 and it is a wonderful place that felt like home.

Our 4 year old granddaughter felt at home. We had a visit from the garden maintenance guys, who we welcomed in, it only took a few minutes. Even the bins were put out for us the night before the bin men were due, we never saw who did this for us, nice touch though. Everything you need is catered for at Serendipity. A really quite location in a cul-de-sac. Not far to walk to the local shops in the town.

We had an initial problem in that we could not find any operating instructions for the Gas Cooker/Grill.. However, contact with the owner soon resolved the problem and we found communication with her easy and efficient..

It has parking for 2 cars. The owner responded quickly to a couple of problems - thank you. For us, 3 sisters in our 70’s, one of whom was significantly disabled, it had some problems. We had chosen it because there was a downstairs bedroom. The lounge seating was not comfortable for two of us (too low); there were no grabrails in the bathroom, including in the shower and the floor was very shiny and slippery. We did make it work for us, so we enjoyed our stay.

We had an amazing time and the short walk, even with a three year old, to the beach was easily accomplished. The spacious accommodation is beautifully set out and more than adequately furnished and equipped. We would definitely recommend and visit again in the future. For great days out with a toddler we can recommend Mottistone Gardens (NT) for a day out - lots of lovely places to explore. Rock pooling at Freshwater Bay and sandcastles at Colwell Bay. The Dinosaur museum at Sandown is great on a rainy day as is the nearby pier.

"Excellent accommodation!"
Has everything you require and more. Large three bed chalet bungalow, all to a high standard. Bathroom with a separate shower, single toilet upstairs, large kitchen and lounge, conservatory and back garden with table and chairs if the weather is nice enough. Loads of kitchen equipment, dishwasher, freezer, even a washing machine. The property is located in a quiet cul-de-sac with own parking space. Colwyn Bay a two minute walk away and you can easily access all of the Island from here.

The cottage was clean and comfortable with all the facilities we needed including highchair and travel cot. Perfect location and perfect accommodation for a family with children. Parking on the doorstep was really useful. Owner so helpful. We will definitely be looking to return.

"We had a wonderful 3 nights stay in this lovely 3 bedroom house."
We felt like our 2nd home. On entering the house, me and my wife both uttered “WOW”… it had been spotlessly clean, had everything we need. Great communication from the owner Terry-Ann with some great recommendations about the walks. The house is situated just 5 mins away by foot from Colwell Bay where we had our relaxing morning walk with sea waves splashing on to us. Tennyson Down, Needles Point, Alum Bay, Totland Bay, Compton Bay are not far off. We will definitely recommend this to others and also will come back in future.

"A very well equipped cottage."
Extremely clean bright and plenty of room. The heating came on just when it was needed.The owner was so helpful. A great peaceful location less than a 5 minute walk from Colwell bay. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the locality and rest of Island. Would highly recommend. Thank you Terry Ann.

"The property was well thought out and had everything you could need."
It was really close to the beach and we all had a great time there. The are quite a few things to do in the area, such as the Needles and Fort Victoria, but it was just as easy to visit places further afield from the property too. There was a minor issue with a faulty appliance but the owner tried their best to sort this out for us ASAP. The owner was very nice and helpful. The only problem we had was the amount of bedding and cushions with duck feathers, these are not great for people with allergies. We also found the master bedroom mattress extremely hard so had to improvise our own mattress topper with the duvet. Overall, we loved our stay and would return in the future. Thanks for a great holiday.

"Well equipped, comfortable and spacious cottage perfect for a family with young children."
Really close to the beach and within a sensible walking distance of a good park as well as shops and cafes. Useful to have the conservatory for storage however would have used it more as a space to relax in if we'd visited in the summer months with longer, warmer evenings. Nice touch to provide the Nespresso machine with a selection of pods and a cafetiere with filter coffee packs. Will definitely be visiting again in the future.

"The worst disaster possible with a rental cottage!"
We were able to get in initially but not easily, unpacked all our belongings into the cottage then went out, only to come back and be unable to gain entry. Neither key worked. We phoned the owner twice and left messages, tried to phone Sykes for help but your phone number isn't evident on the website!! Please put it somewhere easy to find. After 40 minutes of persistence with both keys we finally managed to gain entry. Phoned owner again and left another message. She rang back later and arranged for the door fitter to call the next day. He arrived and oiled the mechanism and told us the opening instructions given to us by the owner would result in the door lock mechanism jamming. I passed this information onto the owner together with the correct instructions for opening of the door by email. The situation was resolved but our holiday was spoilt as our nerves were shattered and we no longer had any confidence in our ability to re enter the property. We certainly would never return this property or its neighbour with similar locks.
A new street door had been fitted before your arrival and there was some minor adjustments needed on locks. I am sorry you lost confidence in re entering property as a garden door key is also supplied. I hope you still got to enjoy the beautiful island! Property Owner

"This was our second stay at Serendipity and it will not be the last."
We have already booked two weeks in August 2020. We have been delighted by the cottage. It is well appointed and suits our requirements perfectly. Our two grandsons spend six days with us during our first week at Serendipity and we are joined by our daughter for the last two or three nights of their stay so that she can take them back with her (she parks her car in Portsmouth close to the ferry terminal). This leaves just the two of us for the remainder of the holiday to chill out and take advantage of what West Wight has to offer. The West Wight Sports Centre is well used.

The Needles are a must-see!! Serendipity is a very modernly equipped cottage where you can find everything you need. It is very clean and the beds are nicely decorated.

About the location
FRESHWATER
Yarmouth 3 miles; Cowes 16 miles; Fishbourne 16 miles; Ryde 18 miles.
Freshwater is situated at the western tip of the Isle of Wight and consists of Freshwater Village and Freshwater Bay. Freshwater village offers a good selection of small independent shops, cafes and the West Wight Sports Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool. The magnificent high chalk cliffs, rolling downs and delightful beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The renowned Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has stunning coastal sea views from most tees and offers a superb day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers with many wonderful walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape.
