  • "Only problem was finding the cutlery drawer which was difficult to find."

A note in the manual would have been helpful. The property was just as described and as you would hope to find the accommodation. Clean comfortable and of a high standard. An added bonus is the closeness of the sea and view from the patio.

  • "Fantastic chalet with great quality furniture, very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen."

The only thing we wasn’t happy with is the cleanliness, very dusty all over, cobwebs on walls, corners of rooms. Cupboard doors need wiping down, skirting boards very dusty. Not sure why a long hair was sellotaped to the inside of a kitchen cupboard?!?! Needs a good clean otherwise a lovely place to stay. I would be having a word with the cleaners they are not doing the job very well. Welcome pack lovely to receive. We enjoyed our stay.

  • "Perfect, well equipped lodge in a wonderful location."

We had a wonderful week here (very lucky with the British weather) with so much to see from the doorstep, especially if you have good mobility. Would highly recommend this lovely place. Honestly can't think that anything was missed in Sandpiper chalet, very well equipped and perfect for a family of 4.

Wonderful location. The road to Eype’s mouth is a challenge, but well worth it. Lovely welcome pack.

Our second problem was opening the key safe to retrieve the key we found this very difficult, every even though we followed the instructions to the letter. We rang the number that was given for assisance, someone picked the phone up and put it straight down. We gained entrance after numerous attempts with the key safe Everything was then good until we came to use the grill and found that we had to clean it before we could use it Apart from that we were comfortble and had a good week.

  • "The property is fabulous and tastefully furnished and decorated."

We loved the book on Eype and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The issues we had finding the cutlery and loosing WiFi were dealt with efficiently. The only criticism was some of the cleaning: the underside of the toilet seat had been missed and was pretty unpleasant. Also a couple of stains on the towels and bed linen. Overall though didn’t spoil our stay, was lovely to wake up in the morning and open the bi-fold doors and listen to the sea. Keith and Marlene Gordon x

  • "Negative points: Wardrobe in the main bedroom was dusty and cobwebby; sofa has dried out lime slice under the cushions; double bed was very firm and unforgiving; curtains were flimsy and didn’t cover the windows easily due to the creasing from being knotted; view was a little spoiled by the car park (on our last night two cars parked in the dark playing very loud music and then driving about the small area!"

). Positive points: far outweighed the negatives! Location was great; decor and fixtures and finish in the cottage were all beautiful; kitchen facilities were good (only thing missing was a corkscrew), welcome pack was very generous. Suggestions: a turtle mat and small shoe rack inside the front door would be helpful. Even though we took off our boots outside, there was nothing inside to put the wet boots on. Summary: we would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "This is a super holiday chalet (bungalow is a better description)."

It looks out onto the sea and therefore is south facing and the sun pours in through the front. We stayed at the beginning of November and the electric panel heaters kept the property lovely and warm. We were impressed with the quality of the furnishings, particularly the king size bed which was so comfy (Vi Spring Elite). The kitchen is well appointed. The only gripe is the under counter fridge just has an icebox and we would have made use of a small freezer had there been one (but there's probably no room in the property to fit it in). Parking is fairly good, plenty room for one car and we managed to also fit our son's small car on the site too. Others have mentioned the tricky single track road with 90 deg bends and only a few passing spaces that leads down to Eype Mouth. It was ok in November- not sure what the height of summer would be like though! The nearest town is Bridport, which has a great little museum (emphasis on rope and net making with a good rope making demonstration). Bridport also has interesting small shops and supermarkets in the form of Morrisons and a Waitrose. For anyone with mobility issues, although the property is all one level (other than maybe a step at the front door), getting down to the beach with its steep steps would be a issue. However we did travel along to other bays not far away, such as Hive Beach which we could manage more easily. Overall Sandpiper exceeded our expectations and we had a great holiday.

  • "We had a very comfortable stay at Sandpiper chalet, sitting out 2 storms!"

The views were amazing. Sandpiper has all the attention to detail for a comfortable stay. It was warm and cosy, extra blankets if needed. Very clean and well stocked with everything you need. We brought oven gloves and an extra tea towel and supplies for the dishwasher and washing machine. Sandpiper is situated near local amenities with in a short driving distance. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Jurassic coastline and would recommend the fossil walk organised by Charmouth Heritage Centre as a starting point. We had a lovely day in Dorchester as well. Most pubs/restaurants you will need to book in advance for eating. We also used the Spar up in Eype holiday park which was well stocked. We loved our stay and would rebook if we were returning to the area.

  • "It was lovely to return to Sandpiper Chalet and find that some welcome changes had been made."

Thanks for the extra furniture in the single bed room where clothes could be stored. Also a Happy Welcome Hamper was a nice surprise along with a pint of milk in the fridge. Much appreciated. The only small problem was that the bathroom heated towel rail failed to work in spite of several attempts to find the problem. We had a comfortable, enjoyable stay and will certainly return.

  • "Lovely stay ."

The kitchen area could have been cleaner some kitchen items were dirty and the fridge had dried milk in it.The rest of the accommodation was clean and lovely. The microwave still didn't work properly as I mentioned before we went but when I rang to report it a new one was provided.I would definitely stay here again more storage in the main bedroom would be nice and I think mentioning the narrow lane to the place would be good in the information as this might be a problem to some people.A nice touch with the books games and DVDs.

  • "Lovely chalet, tastefully-decorated."

Had most things our family needed. Location was great - such special views and isolation. Loved the fact it was a dog-free property too. The only thing we were caught out by was the long narrow single-track path getting to the property - bit harrowing the first time, when we encountered many cars having to back up to make way. It's not a problem once you get the hang of it, but just be prepared for this, especially at busy times/days. Some suggestions to make one's stay even better: 1) Replace the faulty microwave, as previously suggested by another reviewer (it shuts off for a few mins every few mins of use) 2) Provide some kitchen basics like oven mitts, tongs, ladle, decent peeler (current one scrapes vs peels) 3) Like the look of the John Lewis crockery but they're extremely impractical in the slimline dishwasher (too wide for the rack, too tall for the dishwasher spinner, generally eats up lots of space in the small dishwasher) 4) Check the light switch for the patio/outdoors - it trips the mains box every time we tried to turn it on Thanks, Jacklyn & Family

We managed to report the fault when we traveled to get a signal on our phone. It was not until Monday that the technician called to fix the Wi-Fi . All good very pleasant and helpful chap. As the weather was sunny we opened the bifold doors only to find the weather strip had come away so also reported this by email, but as we were at the end of our stay they arranged to fix it on change over . Cleaning/ housekeeping lax we found pebbles and stones under cushions on sofa + external windows dirty

Thank you. The microwave seemed to be broken. We used it for porridge in the morning and it would last 2.5 minutes for the first bowl but failed when cooking the second. Would switch itself back on 5-10 minutes later. Would also be nice to have more than one bin bag/two dishwasher tablets/any salt and pepper.

  • "Can’t beat the location which is why we keep coming back."

A chest of drawers in each bedroom, a clock in the living area, a dustpan and brush, and a soap rack in the shower would all be useful additions. I worry how long the new bifolding doors will last : the door to get out was freezing up during our stay and the sliders to open the blinds kept falling off however carefully we moved them. Also both windows and doors had water collecting on the sills in the mornings.Preferred the round table with 4 chairs as used to be,(skinny bench for adults not very comfortable) . Just from personal taste I much preferred the nautical furnishings/decor of the previous owner to the new ‘beige’ look and the white ‘shells?’ are just lost on a magnolia background. We used the dishwasher once but it didn’t clean things well so did washing up by hand after that which was fine. I know this sounds picky but hope it can be taken constructively- we always love staying at Sandpiper and always have a fabulous time so many thanks and can’t wait for the next time!

Perfect location with the beach just a little couple of love minutes walk and everything else just short drives away. The only improvement I would suggest is maybe invest in an Internet router rather than a dongle as when watching programmes on catch up through the TV it kept crashing. Overall would absolutely love to come back!

  • "We were informed the day before we were going on holiday to the chalet that refurbishments had been carried out on the property ."

Your company only offered revised external pictures of the property! We were concerned but on arrival were totally impressed and felt happy with everything . I believe we were the first to use the chalet after the work was completed. However we had to phone to ask for the code for the patio furniture as it was chained and locked up . Also the microwave kept tripping the electrics and the outer casing was extremely hot. On both occasions we contacted the company by phone and they returned our call speedily. The code was sent by text message . The engineer for the microwave promised to deliver a replacement the following day ( Good Friday) He did however phone and said due to traffic it would be later than planned. As we were leaving the following day we agreed for the new microwave to be supplied at change over . Despite the little problems we had a wonderful time at Sandpiper Chalet and would definitely book again! Great place for a peaceful holiday!

About the location

EYPE

Bridport 1.8 miles; Lyme Regis 9.6 miles; Seaton 18.4 miles.

Eype sits on one of the most dramatic sections of the Jurassic Coastline, and famously features one of ITV’s series Broadchurch’s most iconic locations. We’ll leave you guessing as to which one until you visit. The beach at Eype is a steeply shelving pebble beach that is dog friendly all year round and just 3 miles from Bridport and 4 from West Bay, where many other Broadchurch locations can be viewed, as well enjoying local fish and chips on the harbour side and ice creams on the sea front. Bridport offers all the high street amenities you will need along with a much-coveted antiques and collectables market. Golden Cap, the highest point in Dorset, sits on the South West Coast path and is just 4 miles from Eype, although it’s the highest point there are moderate routes to walk to the top, where spectacular far reaching views along the coast will be your reward.
