  • "We enjoyed our stay at "Everdene"."

It is a spacious and clean property. It was a quiet and peaceful environment in a lovely village. There was parking for two cars just outside the property and in addition we had an enclosed garden. The only thing we would mention there was no composting of household food waste and instructions were to bag it up with the general waste. It is a good location to take a bus into Weymouth or Dorchester, a short walk of 10 mins to the bus stop or drive to local attractions. Well worth a visit the The Wishing Well Tearooms and Water Gardens in Upwey.

Many thanks for your feedback, it gives us great pleasure to hear you had enjoyable stay in Everdene. We agree The Wishing Well Tearooms and gardens is a beautiful spot to visit and only a short walk from the cottages. We hope to see you again at North Manor Meadow. Property Owner

  • "Premium price but lacking facilities and tired IKEA furnishings."

Needs coffee machine, larger TV, sound such as Bluetooth speaker. The ensuite would be much better with a proper shower rather than bath, extractor needs to be replaced with a much quieter model that only switches off when humidity falls, ensuite had a damp musty smell. Broken Velux needs repairing. Nice village location close to many places to visit, it's 2024 please stop using COVID as an excuse, bring back the guestbook, games, local information. It makes cottage stays much more enjoyable. Agency were very professional, welcoming and helpful.

  • "I have stayed here a few times now so thought I wouldn’t need to write another review, but thought I should after arriving this time to find Christmas decorations including a laid table complete with Christmas crackers."

Thanks for the extra effort and the same high standard of accommodation. I look forward to returning in 2024.

  • "Had a great stay at Everdene, so much so that I have booked another couple of weeks there."

The location was nice and quiet, and the house was very clean and tidy with plenty of room. There was a nice selection of drinks and some biscuits, along with washing up liquid, dishwasher and washing tablets. Communication with the owner was very clear, though there were no issues so it was only really the code for collection of keys on arrival. This was emailed prior to arriving, so there were no delays. In short, it’s a definite recommendation from me.

Dear Mitch, thank you for your feedback, I’m delighted you had a great stay and look forward to you returning to stay again. Your feedback is much appreciated, all the best Helen & the team. Property Owner

  • "Overall, the location of the property and the surroundings were absolutely wonderful."

We had a lovely welcome during the early part of our stay. Our dog appreciated the welcome biscuits, that was lovely little detail. A previous holiday maker had complained about a sticky door in their feedback so it was good see that it was noted and acted on. Overall the cottage was beautiful and felt really homely and relaxing. We did find the zip together beds were uncomfortable for two people, there was a big dip in the middle, maybe it needs a topper. The bedrooms were lovely though. The furniture the design and overall comfort was excellent. Overall cleanliness was very good, however as soon as we went into the property I dropped something under the sofa and there was a lot of dust and hair. The facilities were great. We would have liked more crockery and glasses, just enough per person is unworkable. More serving dishes and bigger/ wider dishes for the oven were needed. There was a lack of cleaning things/ foil/ clingfilm. We have stayed in similar accommodation where they seem to have thought of everything. The TV in the main room was too small and too old, no/ very limted smart TV functionality. This is the UK and you are not going to be outside all the time. These things did impact on the comfort. These are minor points that we hope are helpful. It was obviously a wonderful holiday as my partner booked again for his family and thry are going this week.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We do carry out regular reviews and top ups on the kitchenware and glassware and has been all checked for future guests. We are always happy to attend with anything that appears to be missing during your stay and will review and carefully consider guest suggestions. All the best Helen and the team Property Owner

  • "Could be cleaned a little better, shower screen upstairs dirty and shower leaked into the floor, plug hole was also filled with grime and other people hair, so much so the water took ages to drain away."

On a positive note very quite, lovely tearoom within walking distance, small garden for each holiday home with BBQ, plenty of parking, hosts accommodating, had a couple of special requests, would definitely return

  • "Need to fix lock on bathroom door downstairs."

Mugs need replacing. Also outside furniture should be cleaned. High up cleaning needs to be done, shelving, behind TVs etc. Lots of cobwebs. Also flute glasses would be a nice touch.

  • "Great location and great cottage - Everdene in Upwey."

Very clean and spacious and well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, three good bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite) and own private garden which was big enough to sit out in as well as a communal outdoor area. Ideally placed in a small village but only a few miles each way to Dorchester and Weymouth. Great for exploring the beautiful county of Dorset.

  • "Nice location with easy access to Weymouth and the Jurassic coast."

Property and grounds maintained to a reasonable standard. Restrictions related to Covid were acceptable and managed. Kitchen equipment was not as expected. Two saucepans with incorrectly fitting lids and a small frying pan were not adequate, especially if you were catering for a family. Crockery, utensils and glassware supplied as a minimum amount for a family, but for two people it was acceptable. Overall we had a pleasant week in the property.

  • "Only a couple of minor things: The downstairs bathroom door didn't lock."

The upstairs bedroom door handle was very stiff. We would have left a note for the cleaners ,but obviously it's not safe to do so at this present time. Other than that we loved the property and hope to stay again in the future.

The two men were walking the coastal path from West Bay to Lulworth Cove and Everdene was an ideal base with plenty of interesting places for their 'sherpas' to visit after dropping them off!! Would be an ideal place for us to come again with our children and grandchildren, so you might see us again in the future.

About the location

UPWEY

Dorchester 4.5 miles; Weymouth 4 miles.

The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour. An attractive village location and an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
