  • "Very enjoyable stay with wonderful views."

Accommodation was fine for us and the aircon unit in the main bedroom was very welcome. As it is south facing although a parasol was suppled this was too small to provide adequate shade. Apart from that everything was great.

  • "The Wave is a very special place and the location is absolutely wonderful…we have stayed twice and really love it…however, it’s a great property that could be exceptional with a few improvements."

Both of our visits have resulted in us taking on some amount of cleaning ourselves. The thing that makes the Wave brilliant is the view…but the windows/bi fold doors were dirty. There were quite a few corners and surfaces which had obviously been overlooked. It would be helpful if there was at least some milk on arrival and a spare loo roll in the bathroom…seems a little mean. The downstairs double bedroom bed has a headboard that isn’t attached to the bed…also in this bedroom the fridge is so noisy in the kitchen it definitely impacts on sleep quality. The living room is okay but of course it’s difficult to watch the small TV without rearranging the furniture…and understand the geography of the room dictating this issue but on rainy days or winter nights it would be nice to watch TV in comfort. Sorry to have to bring these things to light and it is such a shame as a few changes to the upkeep could make a huge difference and there are so many positives that still make this an exceptional place and you really cannot beat where it is.

  • "We had an amazing stay at The Wave."

Gorgeous lodge in a gorgeous location. The master bedroom was huge and didn’t find headspace to be a problem, the air con up there was a real bonus. There was everything there you needed, the only kitchen item I missed was a teapot - but that’s because we are a tea drinking family! The only think that could improve slightly was the cleaning, a few corners and under edge of sofa had dirt - I think this may be due to hoover not working, I went to use the little Henry hoover one evening and realised the plug only had 2 prongs so couldn’t plug in, I swept instead but was hard to get all the bits of dirts and stones, which are to be expected after a day at the beach. However this did not spoil our amazing holiday - the walk to West Bay for evening meals was so lovely - even teenagers didn’t complain! Thank you

  • "We love the property."

We are family group of four adults and the accomodation was very comfortable. The view is awesome . The narrow lane down to the property is worth the effort , it’s why the place is quiet and tranquil. The proximity to the beach and coastal walks is brilliant. Thank you we would thoroughly recommend the wave.

  • "A lovely property with outstanding views (slightly marred by having to park your vehicles directly in front of the property)."

The accommodation was clean and well maintained with all the facilities needed for a pleasant stay. The welcome package and milk were a nice surprise. The badgers foraging on the patio each evening was an added bonus and the close proximity of the coastal path and beach made for very convenient walking and bathing opportunities. Our party of four adults and two very young children had a great time ( being very fortunate with the weather helped) and would certainly consider a repeat visit.

  • "Wonderful location and decking area."

Lovely to be able to open the doors up completely although not straightforward to lock up. No welcome pack (milk etc) and only 1 toilet roll supplied which was unexpected. Lounge TV as noted in other reviews is in a daft place and we couldn’t get it to work. Cutlery and serving implements very basic and not befitting a premium priced and superbly located property. Overall had a great time and would recommend.

Thankyou for your feedback and comments, we are glad you loved the location and decking area. Property Owner

  • "All in all we had a wonderful and enjoyable stay."

The view is second to none! The house was great and clean and offered all we needed. I got a little annoyed with the very low ceiling in the upstairs room which otherwise would be the gem of the house. But having to walk stooped and hitting your head twice a day is just annoying.

  • "This is our second time at The Wave and we had a lovely time once again."

We did struggle with the mattresses on the beds however - the were very in comfortable. Some too soft, some too springy. The main bed upstairs has a topper that keeps slipping off. Would be great to see these upgraded before our visit next year.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and delighted you enjoyed your second stay at The Wave. We are very sorry that you felt the mattresses were too soft and not your personal preference, these were brand new 4 years ago and your comments will be taken onboard alongside other guest’s feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Wave again soon. Property Owner

  • "This is a fabulous property in a beautiful location."

Fantastic views of the coastline and within a few minutes walk of the beach. The property had absolutely everything we needed and we all had a wonderful time. Swimming in the sea everyday and star gazing at night. On a clear night the stars were stunning! The area has plenty to offer if you want to explore by car and the coastal walks are breathtaking. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer ! Will be rebooking : )

  • "Overall The Wave very good."

Beautifully clean and well-equipped to a high standard. It had everything that we needed, (apart from oven gloves!) View was outstanding from the Wave and its decking. As weather was poor on a few days, we did spend a few evenings watching television which was uncomfortable as seating and tv aspect was not best positioned. This was a minor inconvenience, otherwise we had no issues. Highly recommend this property.

  • "The apartment was lovely, the rooms where a good size and the kitchen had everything we needed during our stay."

The only issue was the closing of Eype eats at 6 pm on check in day as by the time we could get in after 5 they had already run out of pizzas. The views from the fully opening front were stunning and the visitor that came each evening was a real treat. As a family we loved our stay here.

  • "The cleanliness of the property was abysmal, especially considering the pandemic."

Toenails in bedding. Unwashed sheets on the bed. Filthy cutlery drawer. The response from the 'Customer Relations Team' was very poor - no apology or sense of contrition - just a 'you should have told us sooner' type of response. I cannot fault the location and facilities of the property, it would have been a 5 star review if the cleanliness and customer relations were better. For that reason I will not recommend Dream Cottages to anyone.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear about the cleanliness standards and the response you encountered whilst staying at The Wave. We have recently appointed a new Housekeeping Team and are continuously striving to improve on cleaning standards. Property Owner

Being able to get into the sea in 5 minutes was super too. Unfortunately the cleaning left a bit to be desired there were hairs in the sink and the cupboards were dirty inside with food debris. But we loved our stay overall

  • "We had a great week until the end of the holiday."

We were refused a 30 minute extension to our check out time to allow my daughter to do an online singing audition. This is despite the fact that the cleaners had from 10am to 5pm to clean the property. They offered us 15 mins extra only which was not long enough. I understand that the property had to be cleaned first but I even offered to strip beds or do since cleaning to allow us the extra 30 mins in the property. It was not a last minute request, but one I made 48 hours before check out. Totally unreasonable rejection of a perfectly reasonable and small request!

  • "Well appointed lodge right on the cliff edge next to a beach."

The double bed upstairs is very uncomfortable/unusable and the room is unbearably hot even during a wet/windy May. We had to move to the downstairs double room and then found the underfloor heating was broken/stuck on full. It was repaired very swiftly (same day) which was appreciated. Other than that we had a pleasant stay and would recommend.

Got an error message when tried to use and no instructions in folder re washing machine. Air con in upstairs room didn’t always work as expected. Often pumping out warm air rather than cool. Great views and so close to the beach. We brought our own kayak and made the most of the beautiful weather and flat seas. We went on two beautiful walks - up to St Catherine's Chapel in Abbotsbury and along the cliff line to West Bay and back. We were also close enough to take a day trip to Studland and kayak around Old Harry's Rock.

The door seal leaked on the last day during the horrendous storm, and we were ushered out of the property before 10am despite having a sleeping baby, and galesforce winds outside. I understand that cleaning needs to take place but surely there are sometimes mitigating circumstances. Apart from these issues, the place is beautiful and in a great location. The facilities are bedrooms are lovely. We found the information folder on the last day, so would recommend putting it in a more prominent place.

The property

The Wave at Eype is a unique architect designed lodge style property, and it offers breath-taking uninterrupted sea views.

Newly constructed in 2018, this contemporary lodge has fully glazed bi-fold doors leading on to a large decked area, which makes the most of the sea and coastal views, from both inside the property and out.

The doors make the open plan living kitchen dining space part of the outside and they allow the light to flood in, and bring the stunning views to the doorstep.

The curved shape of The Wave affords guests the opportunity of a first floor master bedroom with further additional unique sea views.

There are also two ground floor bedrooms and a contemporary bathroom.

This exceptional gem is just a few moments' walk from the beach, and coastal path, and it offers the perfect location for a relaxed seaside family holiday in Dorset.

Just a short drive away the market town of Bridport, with its famous market, large selection of independent shops, and popular restaurants and it is well worth a visit.

If you are a fan of the ITV series Broadchurch, the chalet used in series one is directly opposite The Wave, and West Bay where the series was based is just a short drive away, and you can recognise many familiar sights from the programme when you visit. There is much to be enjoyed on the doorstep of this beautiful property, but don’t let that stop you from exploring further afield, as Chesil beach, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury, Portland and Weymouth are all close by, and an easy drive away.

This chalet would suit a family or group of friends who want to make the most of being on the coast.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

EYPE

Bridport 1.8 miles; Lyme Regis 9.6 miles; Seaton 18.4 miles.

Eype sits on one of the most dramatic sections of the Jurassic Coastline, and famously features one of ITV’s series Broadchurch’s most iconic locations. We’ll leave you guessing as to which one until you visit. The beach at Eype is a steeply shelving pebble beach that is dog friendly all year round and just 3 miles from Bridport and 4 from West Bay, where many other Broadchurch locations can be viewed, as well enjoying local fish and chips on the harbour side and ice creams on the sea front. Bridport offers all the high street amenities you will need along with a much-coveted antiques and collectables market. Golden Cap, the highest point in Dorset, sits on the South West Coast path and is just 4 miles from Eype, although it’s the highest point there are moderate routes to walk to the top, where spectacular far reaching views along the coast will be your reward.

Note: there is some restricted head height as you approach the window in the 1st floor bedroom.

Note: there is a good house-keeping bond of £100 on this property

Note: guests need to provide their own cot linen

Note: No stag or hen (or similar style) parties accepted at this property.
