The beds and sofas are all very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped and a joy to use. Although on a main road which is, conveniently, close to the town centre, double glazing ensures the house is peaceful and quiet and the lovely garden leading down to the river is delightful. The house is close to a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and there is a supermarket within a couple of minutes walk.

"We had a wonderful stay at Riverside House."
The house is lovely: warm, welcoming, spotlessly clean.
The location meant that we had everything right on the doorstep, including fishing from the jetty, but it was easy to head out to explore the new forest and coast. The new forest walks app was a convenient way to find interesting strolls and hikes.
We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen, and food at the local pubs. We particularly liked the Cartwheel Inn just outside Fordingbridge, and when out and about, Lovitaly at Ringwood and Cliffhanger at Highcliffe.
John was easy to contact if we had any questions and Hayley and Michaela did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We would highly recommend this beautiful property for a New Forest holiday.

"Lovely house with garden sloping down to river giving unique and amazing views with picnic table right at waters edge."
We loved sitting there. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed was very comfy and shower/bath superb. The massive TV in games room was a great place when it rained. Thoughtful touches like dishwasher tabs and laundry tabs, bits and bobs in cupboard were all appreciated. The location us perfect for access to all New Forest and beyond. The parking clock was for use in all New Forest car parks which was amazing. Plus free parking in adjacent shop car park! We would thoroughly recommend this house.

"A very attractive, clean, and extremely well-equipped property."
The garden and view over the river are a particular asset. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies. Very comfortable beds. Not noisy at all considering it is on a main road. The children enjoyed the playroom and the carp in the (covered) fishpond. The town is lovely and everything needed in walking distance, including a small but perfectly formed toyshop and bookshop. The parking and vehicular access are a little unusual but perfectly doable.
Highly recommend Riverside House.

"This cottage was everything and more than we expected - the place was spotless and the meet and greet on site was very helpful indeed and on time etc."
The early evening drink by the river at the bottom of the garden was wonderful with king fishers and ducklings and other wild life. Our granddaughter was safe and thrilled with the games room. The village facilities were excellent and it was worth booking ahead for dinner at the George Inn by the river. WE all had a lovely stay and will book again.

"This was just perfect for what we needed."
Location where we could walk to restaurants, shops, river, playground etc and the river at the end of the garden for son’s fishing.
And we found it really quiet despite being right on the pavement.

"The three of us enjoyed our week away in Riverside Cottage."
We are fairly local so were not planning to explore the area, just wanted a change of scene and to relax. The cottage was lovely for the three of us; clean, comfortable and well equipped. The separate games room was perfect for the 23 year old, who disappeared in there for hours! I don't cook when I'm on holiday, so we all enjoyed the food at The George nearby, also the Chinese restaurant and the local chippy.

"A super break for my wife's 60th."
Simply the best equipped cottage we have experienced. And we have stayed with Sykes for a few years. It has everything you need plus it has a fabulous location on the banks of the Avon. We didn't travel around at all as it was more a question of hosting, for which the cottage is exemplary, but Fordingbridge is a grand small town with good Pubs, Italian, Indian, Chinese. The New Forest down the road of course.Tops.

"Lovely setting and property ."
Very clean and generally comfortable although I would say the single beds are more suitable for children than adults in comfort . There are quite a few trip hazards for those with mobility issues and a couple more suitably placed grab rails would be appreciated especially on the shed wall by the steps down to the river .Luckily we had a lead with us to charge the PS4 controllers so that DVD’s could be played in the games room but couldn’t find one supplied. The bus stop outside with regular busses to Salisbury and Bournemouth was a real bonus and not mentioned on the description of the property . We enjoyed our stay and the river was magical .

"Our holiday at Riverside Cottage was outstanding from the communication with the owners to the meet and greet with Carol to the locally produced breakfast hamper, to the facilities."
The cottage has been delightfully modernised while keeping many traditional aspects. The cottage has everything you need to make your perfect holiday; we had teenage children as well as grandparents and everyone enjoyed it. Backing on to the river made launching our paddles boards so easy. The cottage is well placed to explore the local area as well as Bournemouth and Salisbury. The cottage is a real credit to the owners.

"Lovely house and garden on the riverside, recently refurbished with excellent facilities."
We stayed during the heat wave and the owner bought new top sheets for all the beds and 2 large standing fans. The rooms at the front (street side) were hot but the back rooms were OK. Not too much noise from the street either, most of the traffic noise came from the bypass across the river.

"Lovely house in a beautiful spot by the river."
We stayed with our 2 dogs and loved the fact that 2 x dog bowls were left out! Two parking spaces were a real bonus in the town centre too. Really nice touch to provide a full English breakfast from the local farmstore! Would definitely stay again.

"We would highly recommend Riverside House as we found it to be the perfect place for our holiday."
The house and garden are both beautiful, the property had plenty of space for our family get together with eight adults and two dogs, was comfortable, well equipped and homely. The new kitchen was spectacular! The housekeeping team are outstanding, everywhere was sparklingly clean, and the gardener has created an amazing space that was much appreciated by all. This house has obviously had much love lavished on it by the owners and we could happily have stayed there forever!
Our elderly dog did find the kitchen and hallway floors a bit slippy for his arthritic legs, however we had anticipated this could be a problem and packed some rugs in our car. Younger dogs shouldn't find this an issue as our other dog experienced no problems.
Fordingbridge is very well situated for exploring the wonders of the New Forest, plus the town itself was very pretty and had everything we needed.
Ten out of ten.

"It was very relaxing at Riverside House."
A lovely house that was comfortable and had a pleasant atmosphere. It's a mixture of old and new. We loved the garden with the river at the end of it. The ducks were very friendly, and very well fed! We all had a enjoyable holiday & would recommend this holiday home, especially to people with plenty of money!

"We were very pleased with the property and its garden leading down to the river."
We were 4 adults, two small children and one old arthritic dog! John - the owner - contacted us in the week before to make sure that we knew about the arrival and parking instructions and to answer a few questions that we had about fishing the river and any possibility of getting in a little earlier on the Saturday. John advised that as he couldn't greet us on that Saturday that I contact his House Manager Carol and speak to her. That I did, Carol was very helpful and on arrival gave us a comprehensive tour as well as explaining a few things to us. We certainly couldn't fault the administration at all. Whilst the front of the house is directly on the main road through Fordingbridge we did not find noise an issue; indeed Tesco Express 50 metres or so to the left and New Wong's Chinese take-away a similar distance to the right were extremely convenient! We found people we met in the town to be very friendly in these difficult times. Downstairs the rooms layout is very interesting with the kitchen, dining room and breakfast room all being on slightly different levels. The couple of steps between each level may present a slight problem for those of limited mobility; however not for us!. Perhaps the lounge might be a little on the small side if 8 adults were in the property; however the real wow was the self-contained Games Room to the side of the kitchen:- Big Screen wall mounted TV, a games console and a large leather sofa - this proved a big hit with the grandchildren given the amount of rain that fell during the week! Fishing was very challenging because the river was flowing very fast given all the rain and much weed was being carried in the flow; heavy tackle needed but even so not a successful week. To sum up: Very good property, good location for accessing New Forest as well as other towns like Bournemouth. Ringwood & Salisbury. If only weather had been a little less wet then we would probably have been out and about to enjoy more of the surrounding region.

"Really welcoming owners who have a house that offers all you need for a wonderful holiday in a great location."
The highlight was sitting next to the river with a drink at the end of the day The grandchildren agreed that the well equipped games room was the best they had ever seen and a great help on a rainy day .Having the one bathroom we thought would have been a problem but being on holiday and in no rush we didn’t find it inconvenienced us at all. A lovely house thoroughly recommended.

"Had a fabulous week thank you."
The house was exactly as described and beautifully clean. Carol was very welcoming the tea, coffee and bottle of wine was thoughtful and the New Forest parking pass was more than useful. John rang us a couple of times before our holiday and gave us all the information we needed plus recommendations for eating out. If I was going to be extremely picky (which according to my children I am,) I would say that if there were 8 of you staying then none of the many reception were big enough for you to all hang out together it didn’t bother us as we only had five in our party. Also, again with a larger group, the one bathroom would make getting out in the morning long winded but it states one bathroom and one downstairs toilet in the description so you know what you have booked.
Thanks again, we had a lovely time and I would say to people that are nervous about going away during the pandemic that the house was extremely clean and the New Forest was fairly quiet with lots of space, we at no time felt any more vulnerable than we do at home, we did avoid the larger seaside resorts though!

"Riverside House was delightful and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to others."
Our large family found it the perfect hybrid of village life in the New Forest (and 20 minutes from Mudeford) combined with the convenience; a Tesco Metro open until 11pm every night and great restaurants / takeaways in the village. We would recommend to other visitors the George (a wonderful pub / restaurant by the river adjacent to the bridge), the Raj (excellent Indian food), Lambretta (excellent pizza) and the nearby Chinese.
The house and garden are wonderfully spacious and well presented; enough room for a large family group (7 adults, 1 child and a dog) to have their own space. The obvious 'Jewel in the Crown' is a relaxing morning tea / coffee on the jetty at the bottom of the garden and watching the ducks, kingfisher and other native life going about it's business. We were lucky enough to have the foresight to bring out own inflatable canoe to explore the river for ourselves. The courtyard hosted many family chats over a glass or two of wine and the gardens are beautifully planted. There has clearly been significant investment in the games room (the TV is amazing, watched just once) and bathroom; the water pressure in the shower matched the top quality fittings. The kitchen has everything one might need and we enjoyed using the BBQ.
.A review will always be subjective but our family loved their week spent at Riverside House; I hope others equally enjoy it. We will be back!

"Riverside House really is a beautiful home."
We met John and his wife on arrival and they couldn't be more accommodating which included providing some lovely welcome gifts. The house is beautifully kept and immaculate whilst at the same time feeling homely and relaxing. Lovely garden and seating areas - what's more special than having a cuppa by the river on a beautiful summer evening.
The front of the house is directly on the main road, but please do not let this put you off as once you step through the front door and particularly into the back of the house, peace and tranquility with only a faint distant sound of the road. The games/TV room a particular favorite for my family!
Having direct access to Fordingbridge was perfect, with lovely pubs, restaurants, bakery and many other amenities - all without having to drive. The bus stops outside the property which we took advantage of with a fun day exploring the New Forest on open top bus - this really was lots of fun.
I genuinely wanted to stay for longer than a week and I can only speak positively of our time spent at Riverside House - we loved it.

Salisbury 11 miles; Bournemouth 18 miles.
Fordingbridge is a traditional Hampshire town on the banks of the River Avon, and offers a good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, a small museum of local history and a display of original work by the artist Augustus John, who lived here for many years. The medieval Great Bridge, with seven graceful arches, is a major feature of the town. The immediate area is a wonderful place for visitors, with its beautiful scenery, nature havens, cycleways and welcoming people. Fordingbridge is conveniently situated for the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury to the north, and the super seaside resort of Bournemouth to the south. The stunning New Forest National Park is only 1.5 miles from the town, where you can explore thousands of acres of moor, heath and woodland frequented by wild ponies, and dotted with quaint villages and country pubs. Within a short drive is the magnificent Elizabethan manor house at Breamore, as well as the New Forest Water Park, and a trip to Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum is not to be missed. This is a great location for exploring this picturesque and interesting area.
