Everything we needed was at the property. Beds, linen and furniture was all comfortable. Plenty of clean, fluffy, white towels and the showers worked well. Kitchen is well stocked of crockery, cutlery and utensils and we used the washing machine too. The driveway is steep but perfectly manageable. The ceiling is a bit noisy downstairs when anyone is upstairs, but it is minor and we got used to it quickly. WiFi was great. The views from the living room, dining room and kitchen as a treat. We loved our stay and would stay again if back in the area.

Dear Tamarin Firstly Sharon & I are so pleased to read your feedback back and thank you for taking the time to review our holiday home. We really gives us so much pleasure knowing that you have enjoyed your stay here and enjoyed Weymouth. When we first purchased the house, we thought exactly the same about the steep drive, but it soon becomes very easy to manoeuvre after a couple of descents Property Owner

Would definitely stay again and can throughly recommend the Oasis cafe just down the hill great breakfast and lunch inside or out the drive leading down to the house is a bit daunting at first but got use it very quickly and it wasn’t a problem so don’t let it put you off . The upside down layout was great as there was no lugging cases upstairs can’t not recommend it highly enough Thank you

Accommodation was fab’, the location & views were great. Drive is steep but, soon got used to it. Only thing we would recommend is having a bus time-table & the land train pick up points information included in pack. Possibly even train info’. As we would have used local transport more had we been aware of, what to catch, where to catch it & where it took you. Disappointed that Weymouth didn’t seem to have an information tourist outlet. We looked & asked locals where one could be found & no-one seemed to know if there was one, or where it was located. Definitely didn’t find it on St Mary’s Street, which was a shame.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and thank you for taking the time to write about your stay.We will look into putting a bus time table in the welcome pack. Thanks Ian & Sharon Property Owner

This house and location is very nice and general cleanliness is OK. Facilities provided are good, but it felt like maintenance was lacking in a few areas as if the owner wasn't really the ones keeping an eye on it. Kitchen is nice & large but not very well organised. Utensils etc. are all over the place in different near empty cupboards making self catering a bit of a nightmare. Halogen hob is very slow to get going and took about 20 mins. to boil a pan of water! Freezer is pretty noisy and started beeping constantly towards the end of the holiday so we shut it down in case it was overworking. The driveway is definitely a challenge as it is so steep and depending on where the neighbours & their visitors park can be very awkward to get a run up to get out with a cold engine. Can't see how you could really practically have more than 2 cars off road without a LOT of shunting around.

  • "We did have a nice week at Bowleaze View."

It is in an idea position to visit many places along the coast and the county. The house is an upside down arrangement, to make the most of the sea views in the living areas, which were lovely. However, I feel we need to point out to the owners that the house is in real need of care and attention. There is a water leak that must have been going on for a long time, just outside the front door as the water trail has now turned green and could potentially be slippery. Both the garage doors are in desperate need of painting, as do the decking railings. First impressions of the house are important. The hot tub which we know is not in use is in a very bad state. The kitchen has been neglected as there is only random equipment in place. We had a plague of ants on the ground floor where the bedrooms are, so we could not put anything on the floor. We were also not expecting the driveway to be just so frighteningly steep. It would not be for everyone to be able to access this property as even the flight uneven steps do not have a handrail. My husband has been in the building industry for decades and has stated the it is a real shame that a house which has such potential has been left to decline into such a poor condition. If the owners are paying for maintenance to be carried out on their behalf then this is an issue that they need to address. I have read all previous reviews and see that general maintenance is an ongoing problem that has been highlighted for a few years now. What a shame, as Bowleaze View is not a cheap property to rent. Please attend to all the issues that hirers have raised with you now and before. You can’t say you haven’t been told. For all the mentioned lack of care reasons listed above, I would not be able to recommend this property at this time.

It’s perfect for us, with its two bathrooms, lovely showers and location near the beach at Overcombe. The bin situation has been sorted too which is great to know that the owners act on feedback. Would agree with the other reviews about the poor comfort ratings of the double beds, particularly in the main bedroom. Much better would be either two twin beds which you push together for versatility or a 6ft bed with a firm mattress.

  • "As with other reviews of the Property cleanliness of the property was not good."

The entrance porch was grubby, there was bird excrement all over the door step giving access to the garden that had clearly been there for some time, the stair carpet had not been vacumed, there was dust on all surfaces, shelves, towel rails, headboards, skirting, and not just surface dust, when I wiped out the shower (using the bath mat as there were no cleaning materials available) the mat was covered in black marks which were certainly not one weeks worth of dirt!. Given the covid situation and the delayed check in time for additional cleaning there was little evidence of a deep clean. The house itself is lovely and in an excellent location position with lovely views but attention to the cleaning process needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency as the continuous comments on cleanliness are likely to have a serious affect on bookings. The booking process with Sykes was easy and regular updates and information was very good. The cleanliness issue is letting the owners of the property and Sykes down.

  • "Really loved the location and facilities."

Perfectly met our needs and we have rebooked for next year. The house would benefit from a deeper clean occasionally (top of cupboards, corners etc). But the main areas were cleaner than some of the reviews led us to expect. There is an issue with the bins. No recycling bin is a big issue, not only for the environment but also capacity as mentioned by the previous guests. One slimline black bin is not enough if you have to put ALL waste in it. I think the description should also make clear that this house is not good for anyone with mobility issues (including visitors during your stay). Because all thé living facilities are upstairs you can’t avoid going up the steep stairs. And then you have to come down again to the toilet and back up again. The outside drive is the steepest I have ever seen…can’t believe it meets building control standards!! And there are steps to the side for pedestrian access which are not lit at night and would also be difficult for less mobile/elderly people. But it works for us and we will be back again in the hope that the bin situation is sorted.

  • "We have stayed at this property twice."

It is perfectly located for access to the pebble beach at Bowleaze Cove. It now has a new dishwasher and DVD player which improved on our previous visit. Our family found both double beds uncomfortable so ended the week feeling tired from lack of good sleep. Apart from that it is a lovely house and the grandkids love the fact that it is "upside down". Our other main issue this time was the fact that there is only one slimine wheely bin for 6 people for the week with no recycling facility. It is considered as trade waste and the council wont take the bin if it wont close apparently ! We ended up taking bags of glass bottles and cans home which we resent when the property is expensive to rent! For the cost of rental there should be more rubbish storage. Also the rental prices are being increased dramatically next year which means we wont be returning.

  • "We contacted you mid week before we were due to arrive because previous reviews were not too complimentary regarding cleanliness and the twin bed mattresses were also mentioned as being uncomfortable."

Your customer service team member said they would contact the dream holiday rep and that she would get back to us. No-one did. We arrived around 3.45pm ( 1 hour early as due to COVID the cleaning team needed extra time to ensure the cleaning was done to a 'high standard'). We asked permission to enter the property and was advised by Dream Cottages to go ahead but report any issues as the housekeeper might not have checked the property after the cleaning team had been in. The cleaning team had been in. The beds were changed and the towels were fresh. However, there was mouldy pizza in the kitchen bin. Food spillage on the kitchen stools. Crisps in the cushions in the lounge, dirty ring marks on the dining table and coasters and some surfaces had not seen a duster or a wet cloth for some time. On inspection, we had to contact your customer service team as there was a note on a blackboard in the kitchen 'dishwasher leaking put something under to catch water' or words to that effect. The floor tiles near the dishwasher were warped and lifting. The main bathroom had a drawer that literally came off in our hand, some of the floor trim was loose and not fixed and the dairy tray in the fridge was missing. We reported this, a maintenance man arrived and advised the dishwasher required an appliance specialist. We agreed not to use it. Mid week we decided to watch one of the generous selection of DVDs. Only to discover that the DVD player did not work and there was no handset. No-one contacted us for the remainder of our stay. The day before we were due to leave we received an e-mail advising of how we should leave the property on departure. Rest assured we left the property much cleaner than we found it. My complaint is that you were given additional time to clean the property due to COVID. On arrival I felt it necessary to thoroughly sanitise all surfaces before we were happy to use them. You failed to contact us to let us know what you intended to do about it. You have still not responded to any of the e-mails we sent you on 30.9.20 and 2.10.20. Although, you have sent us many e-mails asking for feedback and trying to encourage us to book with you again, and asking for feedback. Well hear it is. The property is beautiful, your cleaning and maintenance team have let the owners down. We paid a great deal for a weeks holiday. It was not in an acceptable state when we arrived, you need to get back to your customers when contacted with issues. I appreciate these are unprecedented times, but you had additional time to make sure the property was ready for use. You failed. I really hope to hear from you soon, as my next contact will be by letter to your head office as e-mail and telephone have proved fruitless. The owners have a fantastic property, you are letting them down.

Not comfortable or suitable for an adult , We also requested a high chair but one wasn't left so I called the office,as it was late they couldn't get one to us but the next day a brand new one was left for us in the box. The drive way and the steeps are extremely steep, worth bearing in mind for nervous drivers and people with walking issues. There is a dip at the bottom off the drive in front off the garage door so easy to ground your car. The whole cottage was comfortable and really well equipped, with good sized rooms and a decent garden. The driveway is VERY steep, which perhaps should be noted somewhere on the description. However, we had a few issues that would be easily solvable by the owners, namely: (1) the curtains in both the double and twin rooms have stains on them which, if they cannot be cleaned, should be replaced; (2) the mattresses in the twin room are really poor, the springs could be felt even by a light child, so much so that we had to pad the base with one of the duvets (good job it was a warm week and we didn't need the duvet!) - again, these mattresses should be replaced asap; (4) overall the cottage was clean, however there were parts (eg behind the TV in the main bedroom) that were pretty dusty and should be thoroughly cleaned, particularly in the current climate. However, none of these issues affected our holiday at all, just suggestions to improve the experience for others staying there this year.

A few minutes walk to the pebble beach which had areas of sand for digging at low tide. The tide only varied by a few metres so always able to be near the children when they were in the sea. Pleasant 40 minute stroll along beach front into town. Harvester opposite the house . We had an Asda food delivery on day of arrival which made us self sufficient for the week which helped during this time of anxiety about covid 19. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment but we took our pressure cooker with us. The house was lovely. Views across Weymouth and to the sea from the upstairs rooms made it an easy place to spent time relaxing. The house was clean but thick layers of dust under and behind furniture and in corners so it could do with a thorough clean at some point. Good facilities in the house but no remote for the dvd player and after a search we found the washing machine in the garage. A bit more info on appliances would have been nice but we worked them out in the end. We really enjoyed our week at Bowleaze view. It had everything we wanted and we have already booked for next year as in these uncertain times it will be lovely to know that we have a comfortable house and quiet beach to bring the grandkids to next year.

  • "The location of the property was perfect for the beach, visiting Weymouth town and generally exploring the Dorset coast."

The inside of the property left a lot to be desired given that we were only the third group into the property since lockdown eased. Where do I start - all the below reported at the time to Dream Cottages who really did not seem to care The dishwasher was leaking, reported to dream cottages who sent an engineer the next day who fixed what he thought to be the problem which was a split dishwasher arm with elastic bands and was going to return the next day with replacement parts- never return. The cups were so badly stained inside I had to go out and buy new. When we lifted plates out of the cupboards some were dirty and other had chips in them. Before being able to enjoy a meal we had to wash the crockery and glasses since we could not be convinced they were clean and safe to use given the current Covid climate. Not what I expected to do at the start of my holiday given we had to allow an extra two hours for cleaning before we could check in. The carpet on the stairs and landing was extremely badly stained. The curtain in the second double bedroom had what appeared to be make up on them. Every where you looked there was cobwebs and all the skirting boards where covered in dust. Some of the lights in the main bathroom did not work. The property advertised having patio furniture, there was none outside and only after hunting round we found it in the garage, not what I expect in July. This property should have been absolutely immaculate given the fact it had been closed from the end of March to July 2020. Attention to detail goes along way. Given the above I will not be staying again and would not recommend if your cleanliness expectations are at the higher end like mine. Given all the above disappointments we had a fantastic week in Weymouth/Dorset and the weather made up for the property.
