Cottage is clean and tidy, great view of the sea and Weymouth. Good value for money. Having bed linen and towels supplied is a plus. Did have issues with the Wi-Fi as it kept cutting out.

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for recommending the property. The problem with wifi has been investigated and it was an outside wiring issue. It has since been upgraded. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday at Sea Spray."

It's a lovely cosy cottage, and equipped with everything we needed. Beautiful views of the sea across the bay. It was very helpful having the slope from the car park down to the path leading to the front door for our elderly family member, and then everything she needed on one floor. Unfortunately the local cafe, Oasis, had a marquee on the beach for 3 days which blocked half the view of the sea from the ground floor. We were pleased when this was taken down. We enjoyed exploring Weymouth and Portland, and Sea Spray is a good base for this.

Thank you for your feedback. I had no idea the marquee was going to be put up as this has never happened before and hope it doesn't happen again. Property Owner

Bonus having a car space for each cottage.Double mattress needs replacing, uncomfortable and can feel springs. Vacuuming between sofa cushions is a must and looks as though hasn’t been done for awhile. Vacuuming under beds too, false finger nail and accumulation of dust found. A boarder (perhaps two more of the planter that is there already) in the garden area between the two properties would be good as holidaymakers in adjacent property come across and it invades on privacy. Also, have witnessed holidaymakers climbing across the bushes over the wall into the oasis car park and back again, and also dragging kayaks and paddle boards over. And going into privately owned garden to access oasis car park. Have stayed in both holiday cottages & do find the garden area an issue.

It's more suitable for a couple, would be very cramped for 4 people. Very little room and no view in the back bedroom, and you don't really have much room to put dining table up, beds are comfortable. Good downstairs shower. We had a great time, go wanting to be outdoors, drink in the views, would use again.

  • "There are some issues with the cottage which need addressing: 1."

The toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom is loose. 2. The extractor fan in the downstairs bathroom did not work - I was afraid to pull the cord too hard for fear of breaking it. 3. There appears to be no wheelie bin for No. 28. There are 2 bins by No,26, one with a "26" on it but the other (with a green lid but a grey body) with no number - is this the one we are meant to use? Or is it for recycling? 4. There are no instructions about what can be recycled - this is very disappointing. Are the grey wheelie bins with green lids for recycling? If so, what can be recycled? 5. There is no visitor's book. This is unusual and unfortunate. It is always good to see what eateries previous occupants can recommend. 6. The key-safe was very difficult to lock and unlock. At times it took me 10 minutes to replace it after opening. 7. The cottage is in a good position with easy access to the sea, but it is very cramped for 3 people, and a bit of a pain to have to put the gate-leg dining table away after each use (otherwise there is no room to move around) 8. IHow do I stop the bombardment of emails I get from Sykes Cottages, there needs to be an Unsubscribe link at the bottom - but I cannot find one!

The cutlery and mugs were looking very tired and we would have preferred a dishwasher as opposed to a freezer. The fridge door requires a tweak as it didn’t always remain closed. Minor issues that didn’t spoil our lovely stay and wouldn’t deter us from a future booking.

Thank you for your feedback and will replace the mugs and cutlery for the new season. Will look to fix the shelf sliding forward which stops the fridge door shutting properly. Look forward to you visiting again. Property Owner

It would be ok for 2 adults and two children, we had to rearrange the furniture the best we could including the single beds down stairs ! Which was very cramped for two elderly people! Also found soiled tissues under one of the beds! The settee wants taking to the tip. Very disappointed for the price!!

I would stay again if items below fixed. Shower door upstairs wasn't sealing at the bottom so water leaked when showering. Fridge door had dropped so was hard to close. Seating area isn't very comfortable for a relaxed evening. Parking space very small for our van. Good holiday made better by the weather.

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately the cleaner took away the seal but a break in communication meant a new one didn't get fitted. The settee has been replaced with a softer one. Hope you will visit again. Property Owner

The property was perfect for a family of four. The weather was amazing when we stayed so we would eat outside looking out over the sea. It was very clean and had everything you needed in the kitchen. My only suggestion would be to get black out curtains for the bedrooms as the current ones are very thin and let a lot of light in. Very clean. New picnic table outside. Your listing didn’t include the hairdryer in the dressing table or the access ramp at the end of the car park to reach the path to the front door. Great view across Weymouth Bay to Portland. Easy drive in and out, avoiding Town centre. Convenience store and post office about 400 yards away. Oasis Cafe is good for beverages and snacks. The bath and shower would benefit from grab handles as they become slippery. Property would be cramped with 4 adults, but better if outdoor dining is possible in the summer. Parking is tight with a large car in the allocated space. WiFi is good; the router is in a neighbouring property, but the access SSID and password are in the information pack. Netflix and Prime are accessible on the lounge TV if you hold accounts with those. The site allows easy drives to Portland Bill, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove and Lyme Regis. Should we visit this area again, we would be happy to rebook.

On closer inspection, there were a number of cleaning issues which led me to believe that this cottage had definitely not been deep cleaned, which during a pandemic, was a worry. The shower downstairs dripped constantly, and had been mentioned in previous week's feedback. There was no numbered dustbin outside, also mentioned in previous feedback. The lounge seating was very uncomfortable. We had a good holiday, but it could have been made better with a bit more work on this property.

  • "Stayed at this cottage in July."

the living accommodation, along with the Kitchen area is extremely small. the way the furniture is set out, especially the sofa makes it difficult to watch the TV. I would also like to suggest that a small fence separates the outside area from the next door as there is no private space. Upon arrival, we noticed a very large crack in the downstairs toilet seat. We reported this immediately and it was rectified within two days. The front of the property and all properties needs some attention as there is fencing surrounding the wall which appears to not be complete. We also mentioned the lack of anhy bin facilities (no28), which wasn't rectified and we were informed this was a council issue. We cannot have been the only people who have stayed there that have complained about lack of council bins. Would definitely not stop there again due to the price and issues as mentioned., On a positive note, it is situated in a nice area with views.

Its nice to see that past feedback has had an affect, ie, a new sofa and tv in lounge area. The bedroom tv might as well not be there, its dated and although there's a signal booster, very few stations can be seen. The cleaner needs to go that extra step and move the sofa and clean behind it as there was stale food and dust. Our concern for the future is on looking at next year there's been a big price hike which will reluctantly make us look at other options. But we do love the place, location etc. It would be nice to hear why the prices have been raised drastically.
