Facilities were good and all to hand. 3 suggestions:- Non slip mat for in shower; light with sensor over patio for at night; extra lighting near the gate to the road.

A good base to visit both the countryside and the coast of Dorset. Our only criticism is that the garden is a bit wild and overgrown which stops you from enjoying the view hence the 4 stars.

  • "An ideal spot, deep in the Dorset countryside, for a peaceful three day getaway with the dog over the firework weekend."

It was so quiet, with stunning views over Blackmore Vale. Nice walks in the area, lovely enclosed garden and a good inn at Ibberton. Very good facilities, warm and spacious. It suited us just great! The cutlery, glassware and crockery was a bit limited and the frying pan handle was dangerously loose. These aspects need checking. The parking space could have been more clearly described before arrival. Also the path from the parking space to the front door, via the main house garden, was quite steep and slippery in the rain and therefore probably unsuitable for some people to negotiate. We were OK with it however as we are very nimble!

We found the pillows on the bed too firm for us and would have loved a bigger Duvet as it barely fit the bed. The owner was very nice and gave permission to use the field for our dogs which they loved charging around in. The area is a good choice for many days out within the hour. Bulbarrow is stunning in the evening.

i suggesteg that she had the tree roots cut out and a hard surface put down with shallow steps.

Thank you for your feedback. I did offer alternative parking through a gate on the other side of the property which was declined. The parking outside is off road and nearer the property. There is a warning on the gate about the uneven path . It was unfortunate March was a very wet month. It was nice meeting you and glad you liked the accommodation. • "Lovely property with stunning views."

Sadly my stay coincided with lots of heavy rain so I wasn’t able to enjoy sitting out in the lovely garden and listening to the beautiful birdsong, which really struck me on arrival (it was sunny then!) because it’s so quiet and peaceful out there. But it was still a very peaceful and relaxing stay nonetheless. The power shower was wonderful! Spacious cubicle, the water was lovely and hot and the water pressure was superb (I’d wondered about that after reading that negative review and I can confirm that that person was talking absolute rot! In fact I wanted to take the shower home with me!). The pathway to the cottage did get quite muddy because of the rain so I did have to do a bit of tidying up after myself around the front doorway when I was loading up the car on departure, so sorry if I missed anything! (During my stay I just made sure I took my shoes off just inside the front door so I didn’t carry any mud into the property, but during a dry spell I’m sure the pathway wouldn’t be a problem). The TV worked perfectly well and the bed was very comfy, although I couldn’t find a WiFi password - but that didn’t matter as I just used data on my phone (and I had no problem getting service, which I thought I might with the cottage being so remote). All in all I’d definitely book again - hopefully when the weather’s better!

So tranquil and the views are to die for. The annexe is a good size, nice size kitchen, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher if needed, a  comfortable bed and the sunset from the living room was amazing. We retreated to the garden in the afternoon for coffee and cake and just took in the views. We've never been so relaxed. The owners allowed us to walk our dog in the adjacent field which was appreciated in the late afternoon/evening if we didnt want a lengthy walk, we will most certainly be looking to book again. Thankyou, for an amazing chilled out week.

  • "Awful experience!"

It was like camping in the middle of woods with beetles, moths and spiders around! Boiler was running with a loud sound every 5 minutes. TV and wifi was not working! The postcode of the property was wrong. It was at least 12 miles away. No address details was provided. It took us 2 hours driving around the village to find the place with help of a campaign guide! All in all terrible experience!

The description of the accommodation very clearly states that property is located in a rural countryside position and as such you must expect insects and other wildlife to be part of any country holiday stay. I appreciate that the postcode gets you to the village of Ibberton (which is less than 1 mile away, and not the 12 stated), but again the information provided did state the issues of just following satnav and not using the direction information provided. The full address was also given. The water pump issue could have been resolved very quickly if Mr Finn and his partner had actually turned the shower off and not left it running for three days and when we tried to go round and help resolve things Mr Finn and his partner decided not to open the door to us despite being in the property! We helped with bags on arrival, set them up on the internet and TV and provided materials to help with any rogue insects that may have appeared during their stay. So, to clarify 1) Read the description regarding the countryside/city location 2)Read the directions on the booking site 3)Turn running showers and taps off when you are not using them. After investing so much care and attention to detail to this brand new property, this has been a very distressing experience for me. The negative review posted by Mr Finn is full of untruth and if he had cared to read the Sykes site more carefully we would never have had the misfortune of meeting. Property Owner
