The property

Keeper’s Cottage rests just outside the village of West Knoyle, conveniently located two miles south of the A303, on the Wiltshire side of the border with Dorset.

This beautiful area enjoys stunning night skies, being one of the few areas in the UK with an International Dark Sky Reserve status, as well as being perfectly positioned on the edge of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Located on the grounds of the owner’s farmhouse, Keeper’s Cottage enjoys access to the surrounding fields and woodland, connecting you to a network of public pathways.

Experience natural beauty at any time of year here, from the neighbour’s bison and elk grazing in the fields, wildflowers in the meadows through summer, the resident barn owl swooping overhead, and the plethora of wildlife that can be spotted.

Keeper’s Cottage is perfect for those wishing to enjoy a private, relaxing retreat, with two pretty double bedrooms sleeping four guests, with both featuring en-suite bathrooms, it’s perfect for a romantic couples break.

Inside you’ll find a delightful sitting room with bi-folding doors overlooking the nearby farmland, with a small sunny patio offering a super place to enjoy refreshments whilst planning your day out.

Alternatively, when the evening chill sends you indoors, you can snuggle up with a good book or a board-game or take in your favourite TV program in front of the warming woodburner-style, flame-effect gas fire.

In case you need to work or use the internet during your stay, Keeper’s Cottage has good quality broadband so WiFi should never be a problem.

There’s a small but very well-fitted kitchen, equipped with everything you need to prepare delicious meals.

Making a great touring base for the Southwest of England, Keeper’s Cottage is within easy reach of a host of exciting attractions including Stonehenge, Bath, Longleat Safari Park, Glastonbury, the National Trust’s Stourhead, the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury and Salisbury with its incredible cathedral.

Head to the gorgeous Dorset coast being just an hour away, seeking out popular spots like Lulworth Cove, Sandbanks in Poole, or Burton Bradstock.

Walkers can delight in finding endless opportunities for exploring with the Cranborne Chase scattered with plenty of routes, as well as Wessex Ridgeway, Wiltshire Downs and Blackmore Vale, with maps provided of suggested walks for guests.

Bring your bike on holiday with you, making use of the property’s undercover bike storage, and travel along the popular cycling routes, while Windhill mountain bike park is nearby too!

WEST KNOYLE

Mere 3 miles; Gillingham 4 miles; Shaftesbury 7 miles.

The two rural communities of East and West Knoyle, the former being the birthplace of Sir Christopher Wren, sit on the Wiltshire side of the Dorset border and are also close to the border with Somerset. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the edge of the Blackmore Vale, the gentle rolling West Wiltshire downland is dotted with picturesque villages and lovely walks, with the impressive house and gardens at Stourhead just a short drive away. Close by, there are opportunities for sailing available at Shear Water, which borders the Longleat Estate, well-known for its Safari Park and stunning stately home. There are numerous places of interest worth visiting nearby, including mystical Stonehenge, the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury and the impressive city of Bath. This is a delightful rural base from which to explore this fascinating area.
