  • "Well placed for visits to all the beaches in Lyme Regis and eaters."

The parking space a real bonus all be it for only one car. However public car park not too far away where a car can be left over night for fee. Are only problem was not entirely sure which outside space was allocated to Rona cottage and a problem with the refuse bin firstly hunting for it then although we had put the bin out on Thursday evening it appeared back near the cottage still full so we had to leave our rubbish on top.

  • "Another splendid stay, and booked for next year."

Nice to see that a minor improvement suggestion from last year had been acted upon, and please don't be tempted to pension off the time-worn leather armchair in the living room, by the way - it's comfortable and characterful. Thanks, all, for a much-appreciated break.

Thank you for your kind comments and for booking again next year. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We stayed in Rona cottage in 2020 and we were really looking forward to staying there again in 2023."

However when we arrived in August 2023 we were shocked at the state of Rona cottage. We were met with bird poo all over the windows which looked like it had been there for some time. The front door was in poor condition and the lock needed attention. The cottage was not very clean. There was black mould in the downstairs shower room and every bedroom stank of perspiration and was musty. Some if the cups were unclean and there was soot constantly falling down from an unswept chimney. The fridge was in a poor state of repair and was constantly iced up with water dripping on our food. The bedding and quilts were not fresh and the stair carpet dirty and full of fluff and fog hair. In the lounge the sofa smelled badly and there was a leather chair that had seen better days. Recommend a deep clean of this property some serious maintenance work and replacement fridge. It would also be better for clients if the washer machine worked and the washing line was lowered so you could peg out washing. We were really disappointed with the poor state of this cottage and would not recommend this property

We're sorry to hear of your feedback. The owner is intending to replace the front door later this year. Unfortunately being located by the seaside the cottage may be subject to frequent seagull whoopsies on the windows, but the property does have a regular window cleaner. We did attend to provide you with the new pillows and duvet that we had already purchased for the property, and our team attended to any mouldy marks in the shower. We are not aware that the washing machine doesn't work and will investigate this further. The owner has scheduled the replacement of the carpets later in the year. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful time (again) in this delightful cottage."

We were really rather surprised by the negativity of some of the visitor book comments; we were tempted to add our own satirical observations on the observations ("devastated that there was no le Creuset cookware;" "appalled by the lack of port decanter") to highlight how off-the-wall some of those entries seemed to us. A couple of ludicrously minor suggestions: It would be useful to have a hook for a bathrobe on the back of the 1st floor bathroom door; The kitchen was splendidly equipped (made the mental shift from induction back to gas without too much trauma), and the knives were far of better quality than the usual 'holiday let' - but maybe a knife sharpener of some sort? (I always bring my own knives anyway, holday cottages usually offer blunt iron bars with handles). And a really seriously, humungously stupid one - the place mats: they're a bit big, and smaller ones would make it easier to set the table and protect the middle from hot serving dishes. Mind, that gets close to complaining that 'the candelabra was only silver plate.' When those are the only critical observations to be made, neither you nor the owner should be over-anxious. It's a lovely, cosy place to stay; we hope to re-book shortly for next October. The move to Sat-Sat booking isn't perfect for folk who work Sundays like we do, but we are definitely in a minority. And a last word, about the stairs - our party is 77, 71, 67 and 58, and it wasn't an issue for us, save that one reflected whether there was anything else to be done up there when one had completed the ascent to the top floor! It's abundantly clear in the info that the stairs might be challenging for the less mobile. Thank you, all. A much needed break which couldn't have been better - and so handy for what we have dubbed 'The Gin Terrace' just up from the Mary Anning statue. Feel free to publish the feedback, but it may need redacting!

  • "Great location and the welcome pack including tea bags was a lifesaver after we forgot to bring some with us on the first day."

Beds were comfortable. The property was not terribly clean. Bathrooms were ok but my toddler pulled a number of empty plastic water bottles out from under the sofa as well as clumps of hair. Some sort of disconnect between Sykes Cottages and the management company meant there was no cot when we arrived, but the management company dropped one round immediately upon request. Some toys and games in the cupboard helped entertain the toddler. Other than that, it was good to have access to Sky TV and streaming services for the occasional downtime and the location was very good, just 2 mins walk to the beach. Although dogs are permitted, there is no garden so a short walk was required for doggy toilet time.

  • "Great position in the town with the added bonus of parking although that was very tight for an estate car !"

We have stayed in lots of different cottages in Lyme Regis and this was definitely among the best . Very well equipped and comfortable with plenty of hot water and a good shower

  • "On arrival we had to call cleaning team back as floors were filthy , bins and drawers not emptied."

Lyme bay quickly sent another cleaner out. location perfect , although property very close to neighbours who complained we were loud at 11pm!!! staircase very awkward and needs a rail or extra step at the top? quite dangerous. great size house, beds very comfortable .great size front room , seperate dining area and lovely kitchen . not much privacy in garden.

Everything we could possibly need in a cottage far cosier than we could have dreamed (and about a 30 second walk from the terrace overlooking the sea). Booked again for 2022
