  • "What a fabulous cottage , there was 18 of us included small children, all had a wonderful time ."

The accommodation is very roomy with everything you need . There was a welcome pack for adults and the dogs . Very quiet didn’t hear anything from the farm apart from the chickens. Fantastic walks, bike rides from the door . The local pub was a mile away good food . Would definitely recommend.

  • "Newfield farm cottages is honestly the perfect place to go to if you’re planning a large gathering and want a place where you don’t have to worry about noise!"

It’s set well away from any other properties and the owner Anna has been so laid back leaving us to do our own thing. We had a large group of 16 people and the place is enormous! It has so much space you never felt like you were on top of each other- to tell you the truth it was that big some of the rooms we didn’t even use! Looking at other properties around this size price wise we couldn’t believe how good it really was! Rooms were very clean and tidy and everything was well equipped for what you would need towels, plates, bowls etc. lots of tv’s in main living areas and games room. Lots of seating and plenty of places to walk around the site too. Really hard to pick any issues out but if I were to say anything I’d only mention the road leading up to the cottage. It’s very rocky and you have to drive very slowly especially in my little fiesta! Though this would in no way put me off booking again as the place is fantastic! Thank you Anna for having us and we will be keeping you in mind for any stays in the future

The rooms are all tastefully decorated, the bathrooms clean and modern. The kitchens had everything we needed( maybe some kitchen scales would have helped) and Rose cottage was so spacious we all fitted in perfectly. We had a perfect birthday celebration and can throughly recommend a stay. Anna also made sure we had everything we needed.

  • "A beautiful property and some nice touches such as home baked cake and fresh flowers but some overriding disappointments."

On arrival, we received a text to say the TV remote in the main house was lost so we couldn’t use the main TV. We had a short look and found it straight away down the back of a sofa. It clearly hadn’t been looked for. On looking for it, we were horrified at how dirty the sofa (under and behind the cushions were - crisps, debris…it was filthy and if it had been hoovered the remote would have been easily found). It clearly had not been cleaned for a very long time. The floor underneath had also clearly not been swept. We found an old dirty sock underneath. Throughout the property there are some lovely big windows and bifold doors. These were filthy! Covered in so many handprints that you could hardly see out. Throughout all 3 properties the level of cleanliness was very bad. Cobwebs everywhere and flies (multiple flies) in many of the rooms. On Saturday, we couldn’t make the hob work on the main range cooker. On contacting the owner, they said they were sorry, but it looked like that the gas had run out and they couldn’t get any delivered during our stay. So we could not use the main 7 ring hob in the big house AT ALL. There were 17 of us and we needed that to cook big family meals. We were told by the owner to make do with using the shoddy very old fashioned cookers that were in adjoining cottages. This was unacceptable. Very disappointed for the money we paid.

Hi I am so sorry to hear this feedback, I have passed your comments about the cleanliness of the sofas to the cleaning team as it is clearly not acceptable. The windows are cleaned by a window cleaner every fortnight however the cottages are used every weekend, I will make sure that the cleaners also check between his visits. The gas situation was very unfortunate and I can understand your disappointment. We have now arranged for a company to routinely check and change the bottles to avoid this happening again. There is a new oven in Bluebell and the oven in Forget -Me-Not is also perfectly functional but I understand that this did not meet your needs. I will contact Sykes and ask them to arrange for some compensation. Anna Property Owner

The cottages are deep in the countryside surrounded by fields and provide an ideal respite from the general hubbub of town and city life with only birdsong breaking the silence. We all enjoyed the walking with ideally placed farm/coffee shops and the sight of hares boxing in the open fields.

Prior to our arrival, we had had contact with the owner and she was extremely helpful. When we arrived, we were thrilled to discover that all three cottages had been decorated for Christmas. In addition to the spotlessly clean accommodation, we had been provided with tea, coffee, biscuits, eggs and milk. Although we spent the majority of time in Rose Cottage, it was very useful to have the other two for food preparation and a separate living space. All three cottages were cosy and warm and well equipped and we didn't need anything in the way of utensils. On our first evening there was a storm (unbeknown to us there was also a powercut) but the owner contacted us to make sure we were okay and that everything was alright. The fenced off area was great for the dog (under supervision) and it would be a delightful venue for a summer weekend for a large group as there are picnic tables outside, as well as a cosy autumn or winter break. So this is 3 seperate cottages, all with their own kitchens, lounges and dining areas. Combined outside area, which is a good size, with garden furniture and gas barbecue. Ping pong table for outside games. You could easily have 20 adults and have plenty of space inside and out. We were a large family group. Parking, we had 8 cars and there was space for more, you block each other in, but that was fine. Local pub, The Anvil, was a 40 minute stroll, you could go cross country or road, decent food and the staff very proactive with covid precautions. Cottages all clean on arrival, with covid paperwork. Felt clean, safe and welcoming. Phone reception was hit and miss, but WiFi was decent. This property is rural, and on a working farm, which was lovely and looked well kept. Lots to do locally, cider farm, brewery in Blandford, national trust properties galore, and lots more, really good location. You need a car, public transport look limited. Choose to gather together in the spacious sitting room and toast to a marvellous holiday with the woodburning stove offering an extra sense of comfort in the cooler months, or break off into separate groups and relax into one of the plush sofas in the open-plan living spaces.

The flexible bedroom layouts across the cottages make sleeping arrangements easy to organise and there is a large comfortable seating area in Rose Cottage where you can all gather for relaxing evenings indoors when you’re not exploring the excitement of Dorset.

Offering a games room too with table football and table tennis, the cottages provide hours of fun for all ages.

Be sure to make the most of your outdoor space, where the little ones and your canine companions can play freely as you enjoy alfresco dining in the form of a barbecue in the summer months.

Newfield Holiday Cottages sits in the middle of the countryside and is walking distance from an excellent Farm Shop and a couple of local pubs serving great food, offering everything you could possibly need just a scenic stroll away.

Dorset is famous for its beautiful Jurassic Coast which is within easy reach for a day trip to the seaside, as well as the cottages benefiting from being very close to the National Trust gem of Kingston Lacy House and Gardens which has many activities for children and adults alike with play areas and a great walking/cycling trail. Both Bath and Salisbury are within range for a day out shopping and Blandford Forum has some lovely little independent shops and cafés.

About the location

BLANDFORD FORUM

Thornicombe 2.7 miles; Child Okeford 6.5 miles; Moors Valley Country Park & Forest 17.9 miles.

Blandford Forum is a market town in Dorset, England, situated by the River Stour. Notable for its Georgian architecture, most of the town was rebuilt in the 18th century after it was destroyed by a fire in 1731. King George II made a donation to rebuild the town centre with designs from local architects John and William Bastard. The Blandford Georgian Fayre is an annual event held in the first week of May and celebrates its Georgian heritage, with presentations, historical re-enactments and music and dancing. One of the town’s biggest events takes place on the late Bank Holiday weekend, the Great Dorset Steam Fair. A largely colourful festival with over 2,000 exhibits and an old time steam funfair. Offering a wide selection of independent store, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, cafés and a Georgian tearoom. So much to visit within this quaint town and makes for a wonderful tourist attraction, whatever the season.
