"Very friendly and helpful owners."
Enjoyed my stay. Will plan to come again.

"Very lovely property, if we were going by property alone it would have been 5*s (although there were a lot of cobwebs especially around the windows)."
However, the dog (which I accept was listed) was very loud and difficult to silence and would be barking at difficult times of the day. We weren't aware that there were works happening on the property prior to our stay, so we were very concerned when there was a man on the roof mid-evening (after 9pm) dragging cables which was also very loud. We did not have a key for the balcony door which meant there was external access we didn't have control over. All of these would have been fine if we were aware prior to booking.
'Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear about this and I will make sure the cobwebs are addressed on the changeover, I try to maintain this as much as possible. There is definitely no work being done at the property. The key to the balcony door is in the drawer next to it. I do leave my number for you should any issues arise and had you have contacted me during your stay I could have informed you of this and addressed any cleanliness issues. I would like to mention that the property was left in a bad condition as rubbish bags were left in the porch, there are 4 dustbins outside plus re-cycling bins which you could have used. The bin in the bathroom was full of soiled nappies and the bathmat was also soiled Property Owner

"Could do with updating as furniture and fittings very tired."
Outside decking with overgrowing brambles/plants. Otherwise clean and has what you need for a short stay. Owners like their TV quite loud at night and can be heard in bedrooms clearly.

"Uplands is a fantastic holiday home."
Plenty of space, lovely balcony with breathtaking countryside views, comfy beds and a great shower. Everything you need is available including cooking equipment, washing machine and iron, books, games, videos and even a sound system with headphones. Super friendly owners and lots of animals and birds to see. Local walks are great. Easy stroll to beautiful church and next village where there is a pub. Short drive to Dorchester or Weymouth for a golden sandy beach. Overall, a magical place. I would unhesitatingly recommend it and hope to return soon.

"We had a lovely week at Uplands and the hosts were very welcoming."
Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely comfy apartment with great views for wildlife watching and relaxing. Would definitely return.

"What a lovely little find, perfect to recharge the batteries!"

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much."
It was quiet and relaxing with great views over the countryside. The facilities were excellent and we wanted for nothing. The beds were a revelation in their comfort and I am seeking similar mattresses for home. The owners were very accomdating keen to ensure our stay was all ok. I cannot finish without mentioning a small spotty horse who gave us alot of laughter with his mischievous escapades.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Uplands."
It was bigger than we expected and the view from the balcony was beautiful. The owners were so friendly and helpful and let us walk round the farm to see all their animals. It’s a wonderful place and I am very jealous. Obviously there will be animal noises and Suellen let us know on arrival that her dogs will bark when she puts them out of an evening. Just what you would expect in a rural setting. The accommodation was a great base for exploring Dorset, Somerset and Devon, which we did, and came home exhausted as the weather was scorching the week we were there, and came back to this wonderful place. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who is looking for a rural retreat.

"Suellen was extremely friendly and welcoming."
It was lovely to observe the pony's, guinea fowl and geese in the fields from our windows. We were completely satisfied with the accommodation. Suellen had warned us that we may hear her dogs barking at times. They were heard mostly in the evenings when we assume they were let out. We acknowledge the barking may have been to protect the farm animals from foxes but it was necessary to close windows and turn up the TV volume to drown out the barking. It seemed that the dogs barking on the property appeared to set off a neighbours dog which yapped continuously. Other than this issue, it was a pleasant stay.

"We found the apartment to be very comfortable and enjoyed our stay (one of the nicest) also lovely walks nearby in a quiet area but close to places of interest for days out."
It was pleasant to see the ponies and ducks and guinea fowl in the field outside. The owners were friendly but we didn't see them often. I would definitely recommend this property.

"Uplands was quiet, clean and comfortable so we were happy."
The facilities were just as advertised. The location was perfect for exploring nearby gardens, castles and the countryside….and spending time at the flat, reading and taking in the view. Many thanks to Suellen and Pete.

"A nice and comfortable accomodation."
Great view from terrace and adjacent bedroom.Pity that you can't enjoy that view from the living room. As it was too cold (early May) to sit outside, we took 2 armchairs from the livingroom and put them in the bedroom. Problem solved and we could enjoy the view from behind glass. Had very nice walks straight from the accomodation, thanks to the Ordnance Survey Map that was available at the accomodation. And what a luxury to have a bath!!! All in all we really enjoyed our stay. We recommend it if you are looking for a quiet spot!

"An absolutely awful stay."
You need to get someone to visit this property we swapped a quiet comfortable home for a dog barking the owner has decided to breed dogs now. Parrot squawking door banging motor bike running grandchildren running shouting at top of their voices and some sort of steel banging at 8 at night one night. Along with a radio running all day in the garage downstairs. Stale smoke smells from below us. This is a no smoking property. I shall be contacting in writing over the next number of days. They need to be look at again regards no `pat testing` done on any electrical items the cleaning is a lot to be desired too. As for the covers on the double bed barely covered the bed let alone when you got in it. This is not what we expected from your company, and we have had holidays in many cottages in the country so know what we can expect this one we have rated bottom.
I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay, and it is a shame that you did not mention anything when we saw you most days as we live on site and always more than happy to assist any of our guests. I hope that you can see that all of my reviews up to now have been extremely good and if I may clarify that the duvets are the correct sizes for the beds, the electricals in the flat have all been recently upgraded . We do not breed dogs, merely have 4 of our own and the motorbikes which you saw in the garage have not been used since last summer but this is a rural area therefore tractors and farm machinery can often be heard. We are a smallholding/farm that has many animals and a variety of birds that do tend to be vocal ie. peacocks, geese, guinea fowl, ducks and chickens but we do not have any grandchildren so are unsure who the noisy children are that you refer to were Thank you again for your feedback Property Owner

"Quiert and secluded, but close to sarounding towns"

"Suellen and Pete are superb hosts at Uplands."
The accommodation is comfortable, clean, quiet and superb views over Dorset green fields and woodland. Our daughter loved the farm. The Guinea fowl, ducks, geese, chickens, peacocks, horses, cats and dogs - very charming having this area to explore and enjoy. Suellen and Pete showed us round many times. The local pub (The Griffins Head) was very friendly, but worth calling ahead to ensure it’s open and to book. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch there, really reasonable for dinner and pudding. NB. only takes cash though - very old school! Lovely walks around Over Compton and Nether Compton and very close to Sherborne which is a lovely town for shopping and eating out. We also had days out at Lyme Regis and Beer which took about an hour to get to, but worth it. We also visited the National Trusts Montacute House and gardens just the other side of Yeovil. That was also worth a visit to see how the Elizabethans lived. The castles at Sherborne are beautiful and the garden centre there is definitely worth a visit too. Uplands is a great base and was very relaxing.

"A very comfortable apartment with a lovely view over the paddock and fields to the trees beyond."
More interesting than most due to all the animals. The owners very friendly and welcoming. A perfect place to unwind and relax. Lots to do in surrounding area.

"We had a wonderful stay at uplands."
The views from the master bedroom are stunning. You get to wake up overlooking a field full of horses and Guinea fowl! It was a great base for our holiday, and we were able to travel round to meet family and friends with ease. There is a large supermarket close by to stock up the fridge too. The hosts were great, they took my daughters around the stables and let them meet the horses, cats and peacocks. They had a great time, would recommend

"We had a lovely weeks stay at 'Uplands'."
The property was very spacious, comfortable and clean, and very well equipped, and the owners, Suellen and Pete were really friendly and helpful. It was great to look out of the bedroom doors and watch the horses, including the new foal 'Mouse' in the field, and get to know all the other animals and birds that live there. The only thing is that the pub within walking distance isn't always open.
-
"Uplands has everything you need, you get a lovely welcome, it was a pleasure to be surrounded by beautiful countryside and to be introduced to all the animals, sitting out on the decking over looking a field with Tiggy and her four day old foal was amazing."
Facilities were great, v good shower, kitchen had all you need, nice big lounge and bed was comfortable, I would definitely stay again
-
"Very clean and very welcoming."
The directions were good and the house was lovely. The horses and animals were a lovely addition for the children. Really nice stay, we were staying locally to visit family and this was perfect for our needs.

"Lovely lovely lovely."
Lovely owners lovely views lovely property. Relaxing peaceful and just charming. My daughter and i need a few days rest due to long-term illness (not Covid) and this is the perfect place for that. We will be back because it just ticks all the boxes. Thankyou so much.

"We had a lovely stay at Uplands."
The property was clean and homely, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It's in a great location with beautiful walks nearby and plenty to explore in the local area.

"Beautifull place to stay"
-
"Beds were quite hard/firm and generally the accommodation facilities are dated."
Saying that it was very cosy and a great location with wonderful views. The hosts were warm and very friendly and we especially liked that we were allowed to wander onto the farm/amongst the farm animals. A great stay overall, thank you.
-
"A super retreat."
The surroundings are amazing. The owners are so accommodating and friendly. The animals including ponies, cats, dogs, ducks, guinea fowl and peacocks are all fabulous. Only wish is that the pub was a little closer! We had amazing weather that added to our holiday. It is a walkers paradise and not too far from the southern coast to get to the beach.
-
"The location was fantastic for travelling to places of interest, castles, motor museum, cider farms, and West Bay was about one hour."
Sue ellen and Pete were so welcoming and we all enjoyed spending time with the animals on the site. Accommodation was clean and more roomy than expected, with lovely views over the field. Beds were firm, and water was super hot when it came though. Would recommend the Pen Mill for food, and look forward to returning in the future.
-
"Accommodation was bigger and more spacious than we expected, and very comfortable."
Owners were very friendly and helpful. We liked seeing the ducks, guinea fowl, ponies and peacocks. Lovely location.
-
"The accommodation was amazing and the hosts were very welcoming and informative."
Great location. Lovely to wake up every morning to the horses, ducks and guinea fowl wandering the field.
-
"The holiday accommodation was perfect."
I could not recommend the accommodation or owners enough. Their hospitality and kindness went a long way for the 4 weeks we stayed for our university placement. The accommodation was clean and set in a beautiful location which was a delight to wake up to every morning. The location of the property was central to Yeovil and Sherborne with lots of beautiful walks and things to do in the area. The owners took our booking with one week before our arrival due to other properties and sykes agency letting us down multiple times so for this, I am extremely thankful to the owners.
-
"A quiet and amazing place for a family break."
The house is very clean, tidy and the location is great. The owners are kind and showed us the farm animals, making our daughter very happy and letting her even ride one of the ponies:) Definitely recommended
-
"The accomodation we stayed at was lovely it was so peaceful and quite and the views from the balcony were amazing."
The owners were very friendly and accomodating and left us to our own devices. We loved hearing the owners parrott Bobby talking away to us he was so funny. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and would certainly book Uplands again in the future.
-
"Suellen and Peter made us feel very welcome and were good hosts."
The property is beautiful in a very interesting area, there was lots to do. We took great delight in watching the animals from the balcony and relaxing . For a relaxing time I would recommend it to anybody.

"What a wonderful place!"
Four of us have just had a five day break in this unique countryside location. It was a joy to be within a small-holding and to know you really were away from the bustle of urban life. The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable, well equipped with all that you would need to make your stay relaxing and worry-free. The sound and the sight of animals from the windows and balcony provided an ambience and views that were stunning and relaxing; making for a reflective and peaceful setting. The owners, Suellen and Pete, were welcoming, friendly and helpful, providing local information on walks and places of interest. This is a very special place. Thank you.

"We all had a lovely time at Uplands."
Despite visiting the beach, looking for fossils, dinosaur parks, lunches out etc, the highlight for the children (aged 4 and 2) each day was going home to see the horses (particularly Archie!), cats and peacocks at Uplands! Suellen was a brilliant and welcoming hostess!
-
"A lovely apartment , the living room was spacious and comfortable for 4 adults and the owners were friendly and helpful."
Loved the view from the balcony too
-
"My friends and I have just enjoyed a great weekend at Uplands."
The flat has everything you could need, the view from the main bedroom was stunning and we really enjoyed seeing all the animals on the property! The owners were so friendly and helpful, highly recommended and we are hoping to make this an annual trip! Thank you again!
-
"The proprietors are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, but allow you to keep your privacy."
If you like animals or your children do, this is a really good place for you. They have peacocks, Guinea Fowl, horses and a pony, cats, dogs, ducks, hens and a talking parrot - All of which you are allowed to see. Lovely view from the balcony. We had a great week and found lots to do in the area.

"This holiday home was absolutely amazing."
It truly felt like a home away from home. The owners have done an outstanding job to create such a place, stocked full of basically anything you could need. It was perfect for what we wanted, an escape to forget about everything going on recently and just relax. It is perfectly suitable for a family (sure a couple would enjoy it thoroughly too) and our daughter loved getting to see their wonderful animals on a daily basis. Surroundings are lovely as well and there is quite a bit of countryside to explore from the house if you enjoy a walk. It's within an hour's drive to several very nice beaches. There is a good selection of supermarkets in the next town (roughly ten minute drive). After a five night stay I'm unable to fault this holiday home. We felt looked after and were sad to leave.

"Having lived and worked all over the world this is the cleanest, best equipped and most comfortable place we have ever stayed."
Would recommend this place to anyone. The place was also really convenient for lots of places to visit if one was on holiday.
-
"Fantastic location, very peaceful with lovely views."
We loved watching the horses and Guinea fowl while having breakfast on the balcony. The apartment was a real home from home with everything we needed. Suellen was on hand in case of problems but there were none. A great holiday and we will definitely book again next time we are in the area.
-
"On the photo of the kitchen I was concerned to find that the fridge was one of the small tabletop ones - not adequate for feeding my hungry family."
However when I contacted the owner she said there was also a larger one in a cupboard which she switched on for our arrival which reassured me before setting off. The boys loved the fowl, horses etc at this location and spent time feeding and watching them. The hosts were hospitable and the arrangements for getting there and access were fine. We had a good 4 night break and were able to access interesting places to visit
-
"What a beautiful part of the country."
We were made very welcome, with the surrounding inside and out were very comfortable. When back in the area we will certainly go back and stay. Thank you.
-
"The property inside was quite adequate."
There was everything you needed for your stay. Unfortunately the double bed was very hard to lie on. The path of paving slabs leading from the parking area to the entrance door were slippery when wet and overhung by foliage and in my opinion could do with pressure washing as could the patio decking and furniture. The hosts were genial and very pleasant when we spoke to them. The only other point I would like to make is about their dogs. When let out last thing at night they would bark incessantly for ten to fifteen minutes before being called indoors again. During our stay here on one morning they started barking at a quarter to six and another morning at ten past six. Not the sort of time you want to be woken when on holiday.
-
"Very pleasant stay, look forward to staying again."
-
"Really enjoyable stay, fantastic hosts, Fabulous surroundings, the perfect place to get away from the daily rush of life."
-
"Good spacious accommodation."
Quiet location. Nice watching the horses, guinea fowl, geese, chickens and cows. Owners very welcoming. Conveniently located for visiting attractions in both Somerset and Dorset.
-
"We forgot to bring any tea bags and was very surprised that none available in the cottage."
This is the only time I have stayed somewhere that did not provide anything,a small jug of milk and a few tea bags would have been adequate. We could smell cigarette from downstairs,as non smokers a bit unpleasant. Another slightly annoying thing was that all the knives were blunt. Other than that we had a very good stay.
-
"This was the second holiday we have had at Uplands, which says it all :) Lovely place, lovely owners :)"
-
"Suellen and Pat were so friendly an welcoming couldn't have asked for more."
Very pleasant, comfortable an warm, the animals outside the bedroom were an added bonus for us what a lovely thing to wake up to every morning.
