  • "Thank you. The property was amazing."

My mother being 93 years old was also pleased it was just what we were looking for. There is a problem with the heating and could only get it to work by overriding it . Please pass this on to owner. The red light flashing at the side of boiling is the indication of the fault from room thermostat. But as we had such good weather we only wanted heating on once. Please send the owner my apologies, for not emptying the fridge. I also took all our rubbish/ waste back home with us. But was distracted by my mum hence why I forgot the stuff in the fridge. And again would like to thank the owner for such a wonderful week. And if it’s ok I would like to recommend this apartment to my friends. And I would like to say in all the time I’ve used Sykes Cotages you have always come up trumps on your searches. So a big big thank you to all the team at Sykes.

Thank you for your kind feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. I will get someone to look at the heating. Kind Regards Val Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a 4 night stay at this modern, clean, well equipped ground floor apartment."

Having the en suite to the main bedroom was a bonus. It was very convenient for us as my daughter lives 5 minutes away. Also only a short walk to the beach, bus stop, cafè and convenience shop. It is easy to get the No.4 bus along to Weymouth beach. Weymouth beach is sandier but much busier than stonier Preston beach which is closer to the accommodation. Wi-Fi worked very well, good to have the card with password just inside the cover of the white folder. Take care to take the red fob key (opens main door to the building) as well as the yellow fob apartment door key when you go out. Although there is the entry code system on the main door another resident locked the door once or twice which means the entry code doesn’t let you in.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay. With family close by I hope you decide to stay again. Best wishes Val Property Owner

  • "The front door entry system needs to be repaired."

The exterior night lights require servicing as they were triggering throughtout the night every night of our stay, caused disrupted sleep for the whole family. The gardens were unkept, grass was dead, the side passageway fence was down, caused issue with pedestrians peering in on bedrooms. On suite shower grouting dirty Not sure how the next point can be resolved; but the parking bays are tight, especially when packing/unpacking vehicle. We don't have a huge vehicle. In general though the accommodation was fine, beds were comfortable, the living area clean and functional.

I am sorry that your family had their sleep disrupted. I will report this fault to the managing agents. The fence and door have already been reported and should soon although I realise that this is not satisfactory that the issues are still unresolved. I hope you managed to enjoy your holiday. Weymouth is a lovely place and has a lot to offer. Kind regards Val Property Owner

  • "A lovely, well equipped and comfortable apartment."

A short walk to the beach or 25min walk into Weymouth. Convenient for many local attractions and only 45mins from Swanage. Only minor niggle was that there were no spare bin bags or food recycling caddy. If we return to this area, would happily book here again.

I am glad you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to you visiting again. There were spare bin bags but I take on board your comments about a food recycling caddy. Kind Regards Property Owner

Also the shower water in the double bedroom didn't run away freely the base of the shower kept filling up. Every thing else was good and we enjoyed our stay in Weymouth.

Thank you for reporting these problems. We have already contacted the Managing Agents regarding the front door. I will get someone to take a look at the shower. I am glad that you enjoyed your time at Weymouth and hope to see you again. Kind Regards Val Property Owner

The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need including all modern appliances. Both bedrooms were very comfortable with the master having an en-suit shower room, TV,good quality bedding and towels were also included. Overall we throughly enjoyed are stay in this spacious, modern and spotlessly clean flat ideally situated to explore Weymouth,Portland and surrounding areas. I would highly recommended and will look to book the property again in the future.

Thank you for your kind comments. There is much to explore in Weymouth and the surrounding area and so many lovely restaurants to sample on future trips. Property Owner

  • "Lovely well equipped modern flat."

All facilities needed for a family stay. Wifi, TV, washer dryer, dishwasher. Even a hairdryer in the main bedroom. Plenty of space for a family of 4 - inc 2 teenagers. Quiet location. Can walk to the sea at the bottom of the road and short drive (or cycle or bus) in to town centre. Minor niggles: blind in the main bedroom couldn't be closed or pulled up; It's a shame there wasn't a proper shower in the main bathroom to avoid all 4 of us needing to use the en suite shower; the shower head in the en suite was quite low (we are a tall family!). Thanks

Thank you for your lovely feedback much appreciated. Property Owner

  • "Flat 2 Preston Road, Weymouth is a beautiful flat and in an excellent position to be able to reach many surrounding areas."

However, I would like to point out a few things that lowered the rating I would give to my holiday there. First of all, the flooring was dirty and doesnt appear to have been mopped recently. Some of the kitchen equipment was also dirty, including the coffee machine which had a thick set layer of coffee stains in the drip tray, and a pair of scissors that were covered in grease, as well as crumbs all over the toaster and in the cutlery drawer, which I had to wash out. I would definitely stay there again because the flat itself is perfect, but next time would be better prepared by taking my own mop and bucket and bed sheets etc.

Dear Carol I am glad you liked the flat and the area. I am very sorry that the cleaning fell below it usual high standard. I have not had a complaint of this nature before and I will certainly investigate what went wrong with the normal processes on this occasion. Property Owner

Great base for exploring south Dorset. Short walk to the beach and 35 minutes walk into Weymouth centre along the sea front. Quiet residential with good access to facilities. Small single beds not ideal for teenagers. Should be in the listing that the beds in the twin room are smaller than standard single beds.

I am glad you enjoyed your holiday. The beds are standard 2ft 6in wide and of normal length. I will ask Sykes to add this detail to the property description. Many thanks for your input. Property Owner

Very close to a Bus Stop, if you don't fancy the 2 mile walk into Weymouth Town Centre. I rather enjoyed the walk. It was a paved prom, on the level & right alongside the beach. There were also 2 Smart TV's - a bonus, as my husband & I watch totally different programmes. A brilliant place to stay with a dedicated, & clearly marked, parking space.

The flat was amazing, very clean and modern. The owners provided everything you could need for your stay and more. We would definitely recommend this holiday home to anyway wanting to stay in Weymouth. Very home from home. A designated parking space, and the secure entry to the building is a great bonus too. • "Although we enjoyed our stay this is the first Sykes holiday property we have been to where we have had no contact from the owners to check everything was ok."

It is also the first place we have been to without a welcome pack of essentials such as milk, butter, bread etc. We were disappointed to find watered down hand wash in the kitchen particularly with the current situation. Overall the property did not feel homely due to the open plan nature of the main living area and as someone else had pointed out the net curtains left you feeling on view and chilly- curtains would help to make you feel more cosy and less on view. The parking place was an advantage.

  • "We had a wonderful holiday."

The flat is an excellent base to explore from. It has been done to a high quality. The kitchen was lovely, very well equipped. It had a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a dolce gusto coffee machine. So don’t first to bring some pods with you for it. We ordered an Asda delivery for our first day which was easy. The cupboard had herbs, tea bags, dishwasher tablets and some washing machine tablets. But I imagine they were left by previous occupants. We left cooking oil there too. The bedrooms had very comfortable beds and the bed linen was very soft. Both rooms had plenty of storage and bedside lamps. The towels were huge and thick. There were extra towels left for everyone. The 2 bathrooms were lovely, good sizes, v pretty lighting options. The bath was huge and the shower had 2 shower heads which was v nice. Liquid soap, toilet rolls and shower gel were available. The main bedroom had a television in it too with freeview on. It has a Hoover, extension cable, iron and ironing board in the storage cupboard. Cleaning sprays, cloths, tea towels and an oven glove. There are 2 hair dryers, with attachments. There is a huge tv in the lounge, it was a smart TV with freeview and apps for Netflix, etc. If I was going again I would take a bag of coat hangers as I could have done with more. Although there are some, there was about 10 in each of the 2 wardrobes. I would also fit in a clothes airer/ suction washing line to dry items I didn’t want to tumble dry. I ended up using a towel rail from the bathroom put in the lounge in the sun, the window ledge and dining chairs. There was a washing line in the garden with a peg bag but I didn’t use it as I didn’t know who it belonged to. The single beds are narrow so if 4 adults go then the ones who don’t wiggle would need to sleep in them. They’re v comfortable though. I rearranged the room to put both beds against the walls and put spare pillows and towels on the floor as both kids kept rolling out. They loved it. The area: it’s a 5 minute walk to the beach front. There’s a little shop (closed Sunday’s) which is like a little spar. A bar ‘hatch’ with picnic benches on the beach to drink your alcoholic drinks. A nik nak shop behind it and a surfing/beach shop selling wetsuits, blow up boats, water shoes, etc. The beach is stony with small sand patches but water shoes were great. It’s shallow quite a way out so perfect for the kids. 10 minutes down the beach to the left brought us to the Hoseasons site with bars, cafe, restaurant, Ice cream shop, milkshake shop, chippy. There’s a fresh water river running to the beach there too which loads of kids loved damning with the rocks and playing with. A jetty people were crabbing off too. It’s all dog friendly. The restaurant had dog bowls in too. If you turn right at the beach you can walk along a promenade to Weymouth. We were delighted to have taken the scooters as it’s a safe zone away from the cars and the kids loved riding up and down it. It was a 20 minute walk to the edge of Weymouth town. There the beach is sand and no dogs are allowed. It is very pretty with houses overlooking the front. No little shops until much further down. A few cafes are there. There’s a pub next to the Sealife Centre just there on the edge of town. About 15 more minutes along the promenade is a lovely cafe in a garden. Slightly further is a cheapo beach toy shop with arcades. We went to the Sealife Centre which was amazing for little kids in good weather. The Kellogg’s vouchers made the £80 fee a bargain at £38. It’s got a big playground, arcades, splash park and knee high pool with slide and water bucket. There are changing rooms, pizza shop and waffle shop there. We went to Monkey World but it was v hot, with lethargic monkeys and lots of large fast kids on the excellent playgrounds so we were a little disappointed. It’s a lovely location for a walk round though and lots of picnic spots there. A visit to Dudley Door was fantastic and seeing the cliffs with caves/arches was great. A fabulous place to walk about. Wear shoes though as it’s a mile walk from the car park. Once you leave the car park there aren’t any water kiosks so go prepared. We went to the national trust beach Knoll beach too which was white sand and shallow water. It was a perfect day out. An excellent holiday and we would book into the accommodation again.
