  • "The apartment was clean and welcoming."

Sadly, on the Sunday, during the stormy weather, water was pouring through the windows and causing minor flooding to floor and surrounds. In effect, we spent most of the day mopping up. Add to this the lack of heating which made for a most uncomfortable day which only improved following the lengthy intervention (on mobile phone) of John under whose guidance we were able to restore the heating. On a separate note, it was noticeable that someone else in the building had kept a tv/radio on 24/7 and, often, in the small hours, appeared to be arguing or shouting, slamming doors and making for an uncomfortable stay. As a result of this, we decided to vacate the premises a full day before expiry. It is unlikely that we will be returning to what could have been a most welcome break. I regard Portland as my spiritual home having spent a number of years on the island in naval service.# If, or when, we return to Portland in the future, it will almost certainly be to different accommodation. PS Tried to contact the owner on the Sunday and was informed that she was abroad and what could she do?

I am sorry to hear you your stay wasnt to your expectation the leak whuch was from the roof has been reported to the management company and is their responsibility as it is a leasehold flat and they advised me the volume of rain caused this issue but it will now be addressed. Unfortunately being a flat amongst neighbouring properties im unable to comtrol what goes on within their flats but have stayed on numerous occasions and never experienced any noise issues or concerns before so apologise this was your experience. I was abroad during your stay with a time difference but ensured my business partner was available at all times and am pleased he was immediately able to assist with all your issues and talk you through resetting the thermostativally controlled new electric heaters just installed which have never caused a problem before. I hoped the fabulous views and great base this holiday home creates at a very competitive price would outweigh these small hiccups during your break kind regards hazel Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying

PORTLAND BILL

Easton 3 miles; Fortuneswell 4 miles; Weymouth 9 miles.

Portland Bill is a narrow promontory on the end of the rugged Isle of Portland peninsula which is joined to the mainland via Chesil Beach, a pebble spit, which stretches 18 miles towards West Bay. Situated on Dorset's spectacular Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site, Portland Bill is home to three lighthouses, the most recent built in 1906 being the 35 meter tall, white and red striped Portland Bill Lighthouse. Portland Bill is home to a pub and a restaurant/café as well as the Portland Bird Observatory. Formerly a quarrying area, the stunning coastal scenery and footpaths provide excellent walking and the surrounding countryside is well known as a birdwatcher’s paradise! The local communities of Fortuneswell and Easton boast a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. With great climbing opportunities and an array of watersports activities on offer locally, plus the wonderful sandy beaches and the pretty harbour at Weymouth just 9 miles away, this super holiday destination is not to be missed!
