  • "Great location, nice and clean but why so mean?"

We've stayed in lots of other cottages where we've had a welcome hamper and flowers, but in Blueberry Cottage, the one dishwasher tablet left strategically on the worktop sort of says it all really,.

Thank you for feedback and we are pleased you loved the location of our cottage and found it to have a high quality of cleaniness. We are sorry that you expected flowers and a hamper but in order to keep our cottage completitively priced we provide a welcome pack of biscuits, tea coffee and milk ready on arrival, as do lots of other Dream Cottages. There are normally several dishwasher tablets left for customers use, and we are sorry that you seem to have only received one. Your comments have all been taken on board and will be given consideration by Dream Cottages. Property Owner

A small walk from the cottage takes you to the village pub. And the duck pond. There are many walks in the area that are suitable for dog walkers. Supermarkets within a 15 minute drive. And lots of local attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

Also there was no spare bin bags, although this may of been an oversite. But apart from that we were very impressed again with Blueberry cottage after our second visit.

Thank you for your feedback and we are so pleased that you were impressed with the cottage.. The spare bin bags were in the bottom of the bin, but due to your feedback, which is appreciated these will now be placed under the sink. We look forward to your next visit. Property Owner

Huge parking problems Unfortunately on arrival the oven needed cleaning. TV poor reception Quite disappointed not to have a dog welcome pack. Thank you for our milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Overall we had a fantastic holiday. Not happy stripping bedding

Dear Guest, thank you for your feedback and for letting us know that there were a few things that need re-checking. We are pleased that you had a lovely holiday. The TV has been retuned to resolve the reception issue. We normally have such lovely comments about how clean the cottage is, and apologise that the cooker did not come up to your standard on this occasion.. We appreciate that you notified us of these issues so that they could be corrected. Since the covid restrictions we have requested that guests assist by stripping the beds so that the cleaner does not have to handle the dirty sheets, but this is only a request. We are sorry that this made you unhappy. We hope that you will choose to visit us again in the future. Property Owner

We had a comfortable stay at blueberry cottage,Only a downstairs bathroom which wasn’t made clear, no basic salt pepper, oil hand wash, etc but enjoyed our stay

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately, since the Covid pandemic we do leave some dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid, but no food for hygiene reasons. As the cottage is a genuine small cottage , the only way that we could get a fully functional bathroom was to house this in an extention on the ground floor, and although this is stated on the details I am sorry that you felt it was unclear. Hopefully the fact that the bathroom is newly furbished with both bath and shower made up for the inconvenience. Property Owner

  • "There are two things that were unsatisfactory."

The first was that the recycling provision was woeful. All that could be recycled at this property was glass, aerosols (!) and cans. Having stayed in Sutton Poyntz previously I know the Council recycles much more. I wou9 suggest this is addressed. The other issue was that the lighting over the hob was poor, verging on dangerous. The under cabinet lights didn’t extend over the hob and the extractor light, which was provided by blue bulbs was worse than useless. Who puts blue bulbs in an extractor hood? Other than these two issues, which I am very unimpressed by, the cottage was good.

And the cottage is set in a pretty, friendly village, a really good dog friendly pub is just 60 steps from the cottage ( not that we were counting!) The only thing we found was that the sofas were uncomfortable but we loved everything else about this lovely cottage.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and great that you loved our local dog friendly pub. I am sorry that the sofas were not quite to your liking, but we had chose leather so that they can be cleaned with leather wipes for hygiene reasons, and sometimes people allow their dogs to sit on them. I will look at increasing the amount of cushions now that we are a bit more free of covid restrictions. We hope that we will be able to welcome you again in the future. Property Owner

The older part of the cottage is full of character with stone walls and tiled floors (good for when you come back in muddy boots) and the newer extension includes the bathroom and kitchen which is spacious, warm and sunny. The bed was very comfortable too.

Thank you for the lovely feedback. Especially great to know that you found the memory foam king size bed comfortable, and that you found the cottage nice and warm during what was a very cold November this year. We do appreciate this feedback. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic time."

Loved the location and the cottage. A few observations were: There is no clothes airer to dry clothes inside if the weather is bad. The sofa has seen better days and is very uncomfortable. Also the iron and ironing board needs replacing. The double mattress is very uncomfortable and much too soft. Sykes cottages need to be very clear that the cottage has downstairs toilet only.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback regarding our cottage. We inspected the iron and the ironing board and the iron was found to have been burned by a previous guest, and we were unaware. You are correct in that the cover of the ironing board was also burned and damaged, and these have both now been replaced with new. The king size bed is a curved slatted base with a modern memory foam mattress, which does feel different from a traditional divan and I am sorry that this was not to your liking. The sofas in the lounge are both modern leather sofas, and again are different in feel from a soft material suite. We have leather for hygienic reasons as they can be washed over regularly. We are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and loved the cottage and village location, and are disappointed that for various reasons you do not wish to rebook. Once again, thank you for your feedback which gave us the opportunity to correct some minor issues for future guests. The Owner. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean with very comfortable bed!"

It is situated right in the heart of Sutton Poyntz with some great walks and pubs on your doorstep. My only criticism would be the absence of cushions on the patio chairs, the cottage has a lovely sunny patio area however the metal chairs which are provided(which have obviously had the cushions removed) are so uncomfortable it is quite impossible to sit on them unless you perch on the edge. I am not quite sure why the cushions have been removed perhaps due to getting wet if it rains, however maybe wooden or wicker chairs would be a preferable more practical and definitely more comfortable option?

Thankyou for your feedback I am pleased you found thought cottage was beautiful. I have replaced the chairs and hopefully guests will find these more comfortable. We hope to welcome you back soon Property Owner

It was in a beautiful setting, near to a pub and shops were a short drive away. Other reviews stated that there is limited parking near the cottage. I agree, but we always managed to get a space each day . At the cottage itself, the outdoor chairs needed cushions as they were very uncomfortable without. The landing light also needed a bulb in it, but these are minor issues. We had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this accommodation.

  • "The cottages was very pleasant, clean and comfortable."

The only thing we would say negatively is the outside seating needs to be addressed as the chairs had no cushions and were most uncomfortable without. The only other downside is the parking, we could not park outside of the cottage at all as the cars that were parked there when we arrived on the Friday evening didn't move all week, we therefore parked outside of the pub but when it is high season and busy that may prove very difficult to do. Other than these two little niggles we had a lovely week and enjoyed the cottage very much. The best places to eat are The Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills and the Seven Stars at Moreton both of these are so much better than the pub in the village both food and atmosphere also The Crown Inn at Stickland does a really good Sunday roast.

It was our 2nd visit to this cottage, and we would go again, perfect location in Sutton Poyntz and for visiting Dorset - only issues were that the hob only seems to work on the 2 smaller rings and so it could do with replacing for a better one, it made cooking a meal a chore when it shouldn't be and that the outdoor patio chairs are uncomfortable ones for sitting on and could do with some seating pads for them or again replacing - everything else was perfect

Set in a beautiful little village with pub opposite duck pond. Our only problem, and this is us and not the cottage owners fault, was that we have a spaniel and the wall around the garden is only about 4 foot high, which he jumped within about 3 minutes of our arrival. • "Blueberry cottage is very nice, well maintained and modern, warm, good facilities, enjoyable place to stay."

The location, almost equidistant between Weymouth and Dorchester and in a quiet village is excellent. On the downside, car parking is a problem. There is no designated parking spot for the cottage and the locals are extremely possessive of any spaces going, including in front of the cottage itself. We parked as far as 200 yards away opposite the village pub. A minor problem concerns the loo which is on the ground floor off the kitchen. Navigating steep stairs from the bedroom in the night to visit the loo is not ideal. Almost reminds me of early years, at least this loo is inside! On a wider issue, why do Sykes insist on Friday to Friday lettings? Friday is the worst day of the week for road travel. Arriving on holiday in an unfamiliar place fraught from Friday travel is not the best start to a holiday. We use other holiday cottage agencies who are happy with Saturday to Saturday lettings and I'm afraid whilst Sykes continue with this Friday to Friday situation, we shall prioritise those other agencies for cottage bookings.

With regards to property, it was very nice although there are a couple of things i would like to point out: 1) It could have been cleaner, a lot of cobwebs in corners of ceilings. - not sure if this was due to lack of use owing to Covid. 2) Oven and hob were next to useless. The hob could do withe being exchanged for a modern one with more effective heating rings. Very old fashioned. The oven was ok, but again rather lacking in punch when cooking. At the centre of the village sits a beautiful duck pond, and the Springhead pub, where you can enjoy a drink in the pub gardens whilst admiring the chalk horse carving. Just 3.5 miles from Weymouth and it’s golden sandy beach, lanes of boutique shops, sea life centre and historic harbour this is a perfect village base for exploring the Jurassic Coast. Just 13 miles away are the UNESCO world Heritage sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle, a short drive further on finds you at Corfe Castle, most recently known for being the inspiration behind many Enid Blyton Famous Five novels.
