  • "Nice comfortable house, though room thermostats didn't seem to work would have liked to turn down the heating a little instead of opening doors/windows to cool the rooms down."

The driveway is also very narrow, unable to get out of car unless parked at top or bottom of drive. Otherwise all good.

  • "The property was not very clean."

On arrival the floors were dusty and had tumble dust in numerous places. The table is permanently sticky and despite numerous attempts it did not improve, so the finish needs to be attended to. The stairs had not been vacuumed. The ensuite shower needs to be thoroughly cleaned, the door runner was dirty with dust and grime, the grout and sealant were discoloured and grubby. The underside of the toilet seat had not been wiped clean. The family bathroom was the the same needing to be cleaned before use. The furniture in the lounge was uncomfortable with sofas being worn out. The leather may look ok but the springing and foam is no longer functioning. The kitchen lacked one cooking pot large enough to cook a one pot meal for 4 people, having 3 saucepans of the same size does not suffice. The same problem with lack of a large roasting dish or two. For a house of this size there are simply insufficient cooking pots. A tap was broken in the downstairs toilet. The walls need to be cleaned of the scuff marks to improve the scruffy appearance of this house. On the plus side the linen was sufficient and was all clean, the house was warm and the hot water plentiful. Location of the property worked really well for us and it is a really nice house. But, it certainly needs more thought to made to make it more comfortable and better equipment to function better. Cleaning needs to be improved between occupancy with more attention paid to the detail.

Nice modern kitchen well equipped. Comfortable lounge. The bedrooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. The parking down the side of the property is tight for a large car. The property is in a good location to visit many places. My friends and I have had a lovely stay.

However some of the plates could do with replacing due to a few cracks in them, the table needs rewaxing as it was sticky also we wasn't told about the water tank being on a timer and being there was 6 of us the water went cold, maybe this could be mentioned in the welcome book at the property. Otherwise, it's a lovely comfortable home. we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend and book again in the future. Thank you.

  • "House could be amazing and is in a great location but the level of cleanliness was very poor which detracted from our stay."

Bathrooms not cleaned properly with other people's hair on tiles and dirt around shower and sink plug holes. Remains of spiders smeared across tikes too. Skirting boards in kitchen and bedroom were dirty in mulitple places. I appreciate that wirh age a property gets permanent marks but I tested these by wiping with a tissue and the marks came away - they were there because of a lack of cleaning. Paint peeling in multiple places which added to the grubby feel. I have photos if you want evidence to pass on. The pictures on the website showed a gleaming, immaculate property and this is not what we experienced. I feel really disappointed as I thought Sykes was very reputable and with this plus the fact that the property had good feedback scores including for cleanliness, and that we wouldn't experience this type of issue by booking with them. We paid a lot for the property and for the price paid we shouldn't have had to stay in a dirty property.

Looking at the listing, it seemed that the pub and river were nearby, but they were a fair walk away. The house itself is nice and roomy enough, the area is quiet and parking is a little tight. I’d stay again.

Secondly, a doormat INSIDE the front door as the outside one was always wet and ineffective with regard to cleaning shoes before entering. As I say, only small points and overall, we loved the facility.

  • "We stayed at this property in 2014 and 2015."

We were disappointed to see how badly the property has been maintained since then. We could list at least 10 issues that could be easily fixed but the main ones were that the underfloor heating does not work in the whole of the ground floor. Plug in electric heaters were provided but we were not made aware of this before our visit. Also, there are 2 kitchen drawers that need urgent attention, there was flaked paintwork in most rooms, a large damp patch on the ceiling if the downstairs WC from a previous water leak, a handle missing from one lever tap. These are all mostly cosmetic issues but they have left the property looking tired and unloved. A deep clean of the kitchen is also required, especially under the wall cupboards. Despite this, the property was comfortable, the bedding was clean and there was plenty of hot water for 5 adults and 2 children.

  • "Such a disappointment to arrive and face so many problems."

The kitchen was in such a bad state that a cleaner came on Saturday afternoon to attempt to make it more usable. Fridge and Freezer were dirty. The fridge light didn't work and one of the shelves on the door was broken. There were vivid handprint marks on the cooker hood which weren't removed whilst we were there as the cleaner couldn't reach. Dirty handprints over most of the kitchen doors were unacceptable. The saucepans and frying pans were in a very bad state. The 2 drawers below the ovens were broken. The sieve was handleless and therefore unusable. The kitchen rubbish bin was broken and in pieces when we arrived. One of the baths had a sticky smear over its side and a similar mark on the bedroom mirror. One of the bedroom floors was gritty in places. The alarm panel fell off every time anyone brushed past it. The underfloor heating downstairs doesn't work. I complained and was provided with electric heaters on Sunday. The dishwasher didn't work. Another complaint made and it was replaced on Thursday. The base of 1 of the settees has collapsed. On the plus side - clean, comfy beds, plenty of hot water and the heating for the 2 floors upstairs was efficient. The house lacks care and attention and is in desperate need of maintenance. Our attempts to get sensible compensation through Sykes have failed and they will not provide details of the owner, through whom they say we should seek redress, until we take legal proceedings - outrageous.

  • "Very nice house: clean, well appointed, and modern furnishings."

Had a very enjoyable holiday there. When we arrived we noticed the kitchen bin was slightly broken, I was impressed the it was replaced about 90 minutes later (it had presumably been reported by the cleaner) It's in a great location: only a short drive to Weymouth, with Durdle Door and Corfe Castle quite close also. (Our children loved Sandworld - we bought a family season ticket). Would recommend the Springhead pub - food was tasty and they deal well with allergies ( we were asked 3 times if we had allergies), and also Indian takeaways from Chillies on Queen Street A few small "gripes" about the house: - really disappointed there was no recycling. (I ended up bringing most of our plastics / glass / cardboard home to recycle) - the description about the parking seems slightly misleading to me. Technically there is parking for three cars at the side of the house, but it is incredibly narrow. The parking is on a slope, between the property and the neighbour's property, and is very narrow, leaving very little margin for error. We managed to squeeze an Audi Q7 down there (probably one of the widest cars on the market) but it was incredibly tight. I would NOT want to drive the car up and down there every day for fear of scratching it: we parked it down there once and left it there. That said, there is room in front of the house for a vehicle on the pavement (and you can just about squeeze two vehicles there if needed), so the narrowness of the parking wasn't a particular issue for us, but would have been better if the description had been clearer - the garden table was broken which meant we couldn't easily eat outside (in fairness we didn't report it or request them to replace it, although I assumed they'd have already known) - the kitchen dining table felt sticky in places! We wiped it lots but couldn't remove the slightly sticky feeling! Please don't misread or overemphasise the "gripes" - none distracted from our enjoyment of the holiday - it is a lovely property, is well appointed, and was clean. Thank you!

  • "The location of the property is great and the house had enough room for us all."

It was clean when we arrived, however there were also cobwebs on the ceilings of the rooms. The drive is very narrow and parking is very narrow around the property in general as parking on the road isn't an option. Unfortunately the property felt a little warn out, as the table was sticky (even though we cleaned it), the taps had missing parts, the extractor fan was didn't always work and the light to it didn't work at all. There were also marks around the paint work and some of the plaster was falling off the wall towards the top staircase. It could've done with some more storage areas either in the bedrooms or hallway. We did really enjoy our stay there, but it felt like the house needed a little bit of TLC on it.

The back garden is not as well kept as the rear view photo depicts. The drive at the side of the house is so narrow that were it possible to park a car or three there, it would be impossible to open the car doors to get out. On road parking is competitive to say the least but with consideration for the permanent residents, we managed. Having said that, the house suited our needs.

  • "The photograph needs updating as it gives the impression that it is at the end of a cul de sac with a view over the hills."

More houses have been erected beyond No.11 . Parking is a problem as the drive is narrow and steep and most neighbours park on both sides of the narrow road preventing a right turn out of the drive. The house was fine apart from minor items like a loose tap top, but maybe it is time to update the TV from a set top digi box. (Only about 20 Freeview channels). The owners may like to know that there is a slight leak from the hot water tank drain tap.

This beautiful clean, spacious house is situated in probably the most picturesque village I have even seen! The walk from the house to the fantastic family friendly springhead pub was breathtaking. The house is walking distance from Bowleaze Cove, although we weren't keen on that beach or the fairground there. Less than 10 minutes in the car and you're in Weymouth which has absolutely everything! We would definitely have booked this accommodation for next year, but unfortunately it won't quite have enough beds as our youngest family member will have outgrown his cot by then. It's a shame as this really is a very special place, can't recommend it highly enough.

Really would be an advantage to have a shower hook and curtain in the family bathroom.. my daughter/son in law had to borrow ours or my son’s shower which was a pain for them and so unnecessarily as a tension rod and shower curtain plus shower hook do not cost much and would have so improved their comfort. But lovely place and definitely would recommend.

We had a lovely holiday. It was just the small things that we were disappointed in as Sykes are usually very good with this. Plastic blinds on the windows, a lot of them were broken and were unusable. Also, they were covered in dust. The kettle was covered in scale and needed a good clean inside. The back garden is tired and needs a refresh, no outside table just 4 wooden chairs on their own with dead plant pots. The little swing mirrors in the bedrooms were not very useable they kept swinging round so you cannot use them. No blind on the kitchen window. TV with many controllers, due to multi systems, one that fits all would be easier to work.

It looks like it has space all around it whereas it is in a small cul de sac. The comments about the drive being big enough for 3 cars is also very misleading. The driveway is extremely narrow & some residents on the street also don't appear to use their driveway as it's so narrow. The main bedroom has no blinds and felt very overlooked. Had to keep curtains drawn all the time. Some of the other blinds need repairing. The kitchen tap kept dripping all the time and needs to be renewed. Also main bedroom ensuite sink tap needs attention. Clock in the kitchen not working! waste of time having it there as other guests have commented on it and it's still the same. Apart from that the house is lovely, very clean, good facilities. Good location, near to shops, pubs and not far from Weymouth.

The windows were filthy. The driveway so narrow we all parked on the street instead of even attempting it! Suggest a gardener and window cleaner. Some of the blinds in the property are broken too. It was comfortable, clean and gave the 6 of us freedom of space. It was an excellent base to see the sites, all not too far away in a car. The Spinghead pub in the village was excellent, and do an amazing carvery!! The house itself overall had good facilities...well equipped, good WIFI, although I would like to feedback a few minor gripes. The garden was quite overgrown back and front and looked unkempt. I feel that this ruined the first impressions of the house. Also because the back garden was so overgrown it made using the washing line a little difficult...you could only use three sides of it and also when the line moved all the washing got caught in the bushes, some of which were thorny! There were no bin liners anywhere to be found...not a massive issue as purchased more. One of the two frying pans has seen better days...it seemed quite mucky and old. The driveway to the side is very narrow....we all had fairly small cars and struggled to use the space effectively as you cannot open the car door to get out, unless you are parked either at the very top or the very bottom, this needs to be clearer in the summary of the facilities. I would like to say that these are just minor things all of which were easily rectified, and it did not dampen the fact that this is a lovely property and we would certainly book to stay in it again.
